While possible, the cape and shoulder pads are bigger than any accessory packed with MP Grimlock. So there is the possibility IF they ever release the MP-11 mold in the US that it MAY not come with the coronation parts.
It could very well too (it would definitely be a good selling point).
You never know what Hasbro may do (sometimes they surprise you for better or for worse).

The cloak looks like it can fold up quite a bit tho, I still reckon it's a cert….not that I'll be getting it
If Hasbro loses the coronation stuff, I won't complain one bit. The figure looks great but I think the cape looks awful. Plastic capes are usually okay at best, and the gaps we see in this one to make it posable turn it into a real eyesore, imo.
Yeah, the cape is the only part of this release I flat out don't like so far. It just looks clunky, and for a Masterpiece figure why not use fabric?

The foot claws and shoulder hinges on Takara MP Grimlock are also the same diecast as his chest, rather than painted gold plastic on the US release. Can't really tell from afar but up close there is a difference between the painted plastic and the metal diecast, giving US MP Grimlock a less uniform appearance than the Takara version.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but if you're saying that the toes and shoulder connections on the US Mp Grimlock are painted plastic, then you are wrong. I can assure you, the dino toes and dinomode hip/botmode shoulder connections on this figure are metal, painted gold.
There's no chance of a Western release of MP-11 having no crown and cape any G1 fan worth their salt will know its significance and that is what the line is aimed at. If Grimlock got his crown then Starscream's is a banker.

If Grimlock and Rodimus are a point of reference, Hasbro may ditch the coronation equipment and throw in something else instead

Grimlock is a redeco of the Japanese Masterpiece Grimlock with King Grimlock's accessories (also redecoed). He is a Toys"R"Us exclusive. Grimlock's gray is darker than the original TakaraTomy release. He features additional painted details on his thighs, biceps, and waist to mimic label stickers included on the original 1985 figure. The dark gray painted details on his robot mode toes for the TakaraTomy release are now gold. The dinosaur mode's toe nails are now coated in a thick gold paint rather than the polished golden look of the TakaraTomy version. The red paint used on the metal area on his crotch is a lighter shade of red than used on the TakaraTomy version, matching the adjacent red plastic less than on the import release. Grimlock's teeth and claws are slightly rounded for this release.

My U.S. Grimlocks are great, so I assume the quality was the same since I haven't heard many complaints about any versions of that mold.
There's a couple minor extra paint apps, so he's arguably the best release. The teeth and claws are a bit rounded off, but barely. I'd call all 3 versions of MP Grimlock about equal in quality and gear. To me, the U.S. release is a case where I could gladly pay the lower U.S. retail price without feeling like I was either missing anything or had a tough choice to make.
The teeth and claws of US are of more rounded because of safety purpose but i still prefer the Takara version of MP Grimlock
Yeah, I got a US version as well. I wasn't really paying attention at the time when these came out (deployed). I was lucky to find one late this past summer.
The only Japanese MP I bought was Megatron, as I knew he would never come to North American retail stores, but I think I might just go with the Japanese version of MP-11 as well…
On a side note, were there differences between the MP Grimlocks?
Quality-wise, I mean. I know the accessories were.

*shrugs* I know that it is not just the coronation gear that raises the Takara version of the MP toys. The extra paint details and the fact that people are more than willing to pay said price are large factors too (dollar to yen being another big factor)
I simply want to buy multiple seekers. I had multiples before and seekers are my favorite 'mold type'. The Hasbro versions of the MP molds have consistently been lower over the years, both Grimlock and Rodimus coming in in the same relative price range, which was my primary source for 'hope it'll be this price'… him not having the coronation gear was more becuase I don't like the gear all that much, especially the cape.
And even if we only get Starscream here, that'll be fine. White redyes easily for the most part which makes remaking my seeker armada MUCH easier than trying to repaint Skywarp's black^^

Hopefully, if Hasbro is smart, they'll release Thundercracker before another MP Skywarp. The best use of this retool would be to release TC first, THEN cash grab for Screamer, but that's got practically no chance of happening.

I've got a feeling that the feet simply rotate around and fold over those little blue squares on his lower legs.
Skywarp181
no new info? wish they would show the bottom of the alt mode. kinda concerned about the feet… looks horrible?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I know there were several paint app and plastic color differences, but I think the quality of the toy in general was the same.

Meh, I think there's a better than even chance we'll see new versions of TC and SW, one way or the other.
I mean, we're getting a black and purple Rodimus for some reason, so…
Love this pic!
