Welcome, Transformers fan. I have summoned you here for a purpose.
I wish to share with you these in hand images of the upcoming Amazon.com exclusive Unicron with Kranix. These pictures were snapped by RampageSSS of the 2005 Boards – the lucky chap has him in hand already! Some things to note:
– Unicron has green eyes on this release, but red LEDs behind them.
– Unicron’s packaging is marked 25th Anniversary of Transformers the Movie
– They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so we’ll leave it to you to check out RampageSSS’ comparison images with Armada Unicron and TakaraTomy’s Celebration 2010 Unicron.
As if that was not enough, a few more images have been posted over on ACtoys.net.

You're right, I can vouch that the Millenium Falcon suffers from GPS. I must say it could be a case of simply weak plastic, but my Chewbacca's knee crumbled when transformed, and it had swirly golden plastic. I'm not so sure about Legends Scorponok though, as TFWiki seems to say that it is a case of structural weakness, not GPS.
I'm not sure if Unicron here suffers from it, but the shade of gold used on Unicron is far too different from ANY toy that has previously suffered from GPS. Previous GPS sufferers used a dark, murky shade of gold, like a bit of brown was thrown in. It resembles gold acrylic model paint you can buy in hobby stores, gold tin foil or golden Christmas wreaths.
I'm by no means an expert, but have a look at some GPS sufferers:
Even the Millenium Falcon, which has not been confirmed by experienced users as having GPS, has a similar shade of gold (the knee area I circled is where my Chewbacca broke):
Amazon Unicron, by contrast, has a different shade of gold, it's brighter and more like polished gold. It looks like a bit of orange was dumped in. It definitely isn't the type of gold used by the others:
So, while this definitely isn't a confirmation against Unicron having GPS, I think Unicron is safer than the other gold figures of yesteryear, at least, because he uses a different type of plastic.

Exactly, and on that note, can we keep this thread for ppl with in-hand pics
Billzilla
No prob! This thread is pretty useful for updates on it being back in stock, that's how I scored mine.
UnicronFTW
Actually, 07' legends Scorponok and Protoform Starscream suffered a little bit. And a SWTF (don't remember which one… I think the Millenium Falcon).
Koolimus Prime
It shouldn't. I don't think any toy since Beast Wars has had GPS. They stopped using that praticular plastic long ago. Also, Animated Red Alert already cured GPS!

Thanks for the info, Bill. Wasn't this supposed to be released in October or so? This is early! Man, I gotta keep an eye on this now!
Billzilla
There was no preorder. It just popped up late last week and went in and out of stock for most of the weekend. The lucky few who got in will be receiving theirs over the next few days. Smart money says there will be more, but nobody knows for sure.

What happened to the Amazon item? Did I miss the preorders?!? The listing says it is available from 2 sellers for $250-$300!! Am I looking at the right thing? If I missed out on yet another exclusive because I got to it too late, I will not be a happy camper. Please, someone tell me that it will become available from Amazon again soon!

Good to know. By the way, anyone have a link to review comparison of both versions (2005 and 2010) Predaking?
B’Bantor
if you have the blue & green Energon version PM me pls.
bdougwrx
It's a gold finish (paint) not metallic-coloured plastic.
Valkysas
2010 Predaking? So would that be… Gold Paint Syndrome?
no.
Mega Convoy
Sure looks like gold based on the earlier pics. Maybe I need a new monitor, or new eyes. I thought Hasbro had long since ditched GPS too, before the SWTF Millennium Falcon fiasco. That thing snapped like a twig not long after purchase. Which reminds me…a little late but I've been out…were there ever any problems found with the 2010 Predaking or was that a different type of gold too?

Yep, I doubt Unicron will have any problems.
UnicronFTW
Hasbro has gotten control of GPS. And even then, Unicrons not even Gold.
Valkysas
Because there's no gold plastic on Unicron. There's swirly, metallic orange though.
I doubt it'll be a problem. Hasbro seems to have gotten that under control in the last few years.
Mega Convoy
I'm surprised no one has mentioned GPS in comparing Unicron yet. All that gold concerns me. The real question in my mind isn't "what paint job looks a little better?", it's "Will it lose a leg, an arm, wing or head in a year or so?" So I'm wondering what type of plastic Unicron is made from, the stuff that degrades fast or the sterner stuff–if there is any.

I think a lot of people are freaking out for no reason. There will be more of these from Amazon. DO NOT PAY THE SCALPER PRICE OF $300.00! It will be back at the $60.00 Price Tag.
Valkysas
I prefer the white on the 2010 version and the straighter orange chest stripe, but other than that, I like the amazon version's deco more.
I do wish the red stomach squares were clear red though, and it sucks that hasbro didnt fix takara's mistake in not painting the sides of the helmet.
PoweredConvoy
Dead End is easy to come by between all the versions, I imagine he wants Kranix because it's a unique character or color scheme.
