NO mention of mirage bleh. He's gonna show up right at the end of the DOTM line most likely. Which could be nice, it'll be a nice send off into a possible spin-off line like hunt for the decepticons was.
Not keen on legends but I'd buy a few to populate a citybot if Hasbro brought those back.
That is what you call an "Associated Product" sales strategy. Hasbro is probably looking into this angle too. If I were marketing this for Hasbro, I would be looking into any and all ways to tie in product sales to a bigbot purchase. This type of strategy seemed to work out pretty good for them back in the 80's with the whole micromaster playsets thing, which came out after the bigbots, by the way.
"no comment" to Cyberverse City Bots sounds like GREAT news.
They could have just said "no plans" but "no comment" suggests there's something not to comment about.
I dream of Cyberverse Metroplex, Fortress Maximus, and Trypticon.
-ZacWilliam, Sooooo awesome potential there…
I agree. When I hear a, "No Comment", I get an impression that an idea, at least, is being evaluated, and being developed to the point of continuation or termination.
Hasbro has had enough to time since the cyberverse line (and even the legends class) was released to get the all important feedback, that helps determine among other things profitability and longevity of this line. I betting its been good too. Good enough to think about basebots playsets.
Long story short, if you want basebots, buy playsets, it just might work.
We might see something by toyfair or the next botcon, too.
Why not? They've done it before. That's like 20 cents to hasbro. Their top executives probably spend more than that at a strip club on their lunch hour!
For the most part, molds that went unmade were from lines that were discontinued (like Animated for example). This is the "classics" aesthetic, and we know its not going away any time soon (though there may be a break here and there). Not to mention these could easily fit in with the Prime toys look-wise, and could be put out in that line. Unlike Animated toys, which don't really fit anywhere else.
But regardless, its up to the individual here. I'm content on waiting, and picking up these guys at retail if they make it for $7-$8, and I'm not going to spend $50 for the japanese set (though now its going for much more). If they don't make it out eventually, oh well. I have plenty of toys laying around, my collection isnt going to suffer if I'm missing 2 scouts.
No, but the mold has been made. There's no reason for hasbro to NOT make the toys and eat that $20,000 or however much it costs to make a mold. They'll come out sooner or later.

I'd love to see all the molds over the years that were made and nobody ever saw. Gotta be tons of them.
If lucky, maybe discount retailers take some discontinued stuff off their hands cheap. I don't get that. Hasbro operates an online store! Push the crap through that and partner up with other online retailers to take some of the excess. BBTS and TFSource I'm sure would gladly take large amounts, especially if offered at a discount just to get them out.
I don't know what it is. There always seems to be some really good options out there for stuff that Hasbro never wants to consider. I thought they liked money too, but from what they sometimes do and don't do, I really gotta wonder!
If you want updated, official versions of Rumble and Frenzy, buy the United versions now or regret later. History has shown that Decepticon figures in similar circumstances have not been released in the West. These include animated Blackout and Thundercracker.

I found it pretty amusing the amount of people that apparently didn't look at the Botcon/SDCC pics based on their reaction. I don't think there was any pics that we didn't see before but tons of people were Whoa'ing & cheering like it was brand new to them.
New figures for the "Dark of the Moon" line. That doesn't mean a spinoff like RotF's HftD line won't take it's place.
Well, maybe Mirage and Topspin won't be expected in a month's time? Maybe we'll get them next year as a few gems in the expected 2012 line.
What? Nearly all of the DotM figures are new. What are you talking about? And who's to say Hasbro won't change their mind about when they release the figures? It's not exactly set in stone when they release something, like how Wheeljack and Soundwave are now in wave 5 instead of the previously shown wave 6. With some good spacing out between toys and a maybe a surprise or two here and there like Hasbro tends to do, they could pull it off. If they don't change which toys get released, which they could.
That's a matter of opinion.
I didn't say all the dotm figs, I said all of them released AFTER the line launched. Most of those have been repaints.
Since launch, one new leader. 4 new deluxe molds. ONE new voyager. Besides that more BB repaints than I care to count!
But really, 3 different Cyberverse Primes already. 3 different Megatrons. (granted 2 of those are the base sets) What are we up to 6 different deluxe BB's, and I lost count of how many legion class there are.
Even if a few more new figs are shown later, there is no way this line will be anything near as large as the last couple movie lines have been, and swelled by repaints more than the previous two. I'd pretty much call that a letdown! At least if you want more figs from this line it is.
I'm sure plenty are just happy the end of this line is in sight.
Well do the math. If the line is going to stop with new figures by December and they aren't even hinting at anything new coming then that doesn't exactly bode very well does it?
New figures for the "Dark of the Moon" line. That doesn't mean a spinoff like RotF's HftD line won't take it's place.
No reasons to keep secrets about figures expected out in only a couple of months time. Part of the reason for letting people know what is coming is so that people know what to save money to buy. Creating NO buzz for the new figures isn't a very good marketing strategy.
Well, maybe Mirage and Topspin won't be expected in a month's time? Maybe we'll get them next year as a few gems in the expected 2012 line.
Not to mention the fact that we've had few new molds released since the start of the movie line. We've got some new stuff coming, but from what we've seen is that enough to last through December? Seems pretty weak to me.
What? Nearly all of the DotM figures are new. What are you talking about?

Oh yeah…and WWWWAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY too many repaints!!!
I doubt it. As much as I'd like to think you're right about Soundwave and Wheeljack being in wave 5, I think it was probably a typo.
I wish we'd've heard about (and preferably see pictures of) figures like Deluxe Mirage and Leader Megatron (if he exists), but we still could hear about them from that convention China from which we saw the first RTS figures last summer.
If we didnt see any new stuff at SDCC, its not a huge suprise there isnt new stuff shown here…I was actually counting on not seeing anything new.
BUT, If Hasbro decides to shift focus on Primeline, Thats cool, But Im not buying that stuff, so I can catch up on a few that I missed.
I think there is a lil bit of the "rise of Cobra" thing goin on here. SOOOO many movie toys, Still wave ones clogging every retailer coast to coast. They are probably deciding to hold stuff back for awhile to let the shelves clear, so retailers dont have to clearance by the thousands.
I know first hand that a few retailers were pissed about the ROC stuff…Mabye they are trying to make them happy too. I have never seen this many movie toys in EVERY store that sells toys in my life…
Deluxe DOTM Wheeljack and Soundwave are in wave 5 now?!
That means they are coming next wave in the states, right?!
Hooray!!!
I doubt it. As much as I'd like to think you're right about Soundwave and Wheeljack being in wave 5, I think it was probably a typo.

I get that hasbro is proud of the movie line, yet unsatified with it. Didnt one of the designer said movie toys look like monsters, and classic looks like robots? Even the designers arent proud of their work…hence movie line just sit and sit and sit….i wonder how much store lose and the initial waves?
Lack of not showinh new products is weird but also exciting because we dont know what coming. Its seems like theyre putting a lot of effort in the Prime line…i know they have something up there sleeve, w/o a movie next year, better believe theyre going hard!…be patience good stuff is cooking…

I don't know. I think it was in August some time last year.

Nothing new to reveal ay? "Hasbro would like to continue Generations into 2012" & that's all we're being told? Yeah, thanks Hasbro…

I might pick up that more G1 accurate Unicron. But I already have Armada Unicron so there may not be enough of a difference to justify a purchase.
