Its ok imo, transformation sort of similar to the old school bots,there for made as simple as possible. Ill pick it up jus to display with G1 Optimus : )
I agree with your opinion on this. I think he's one of the underdogs of the toys released so far. Although I have one thing to say- the blue shoulderpads should be angled upwards in order to emulate the silver spike-ish things on his shoulders, the ones that are molded in red but painted silver on ROTF Leader Optimus.
At first I thought that, but they are two squarish to emulate something so triangular. Pads look better laying flat.

Check out the molded detail on the underside- It is the exact shape of the triangular shoulder spike thingies. Is there an exact term for those?
