TFW2005 just received a word from Activision; publishers of Transformers: Dark of the Moon Video Game, regarding “Pre-Order and Launch Bonuses”.

Pre-ordering the game will give you different freebies (for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3) depending on where you choose to buy.

  • GameStop – Pre-orders receive an exclusive code to unlock the playable character Sideswipe.
  • Amazon – Pre-orders receive an exclusive code to unlock the playable character Ratchet.

Other retailers who aren’t offering Pre-Orders are giving away “Launch Bonuses”.

  • Channel Wide – Original Bumblebee toys with the Wii and Nintendo DS Autobots version of Transformers: Dark of the Moon and original Lockdown toy with the Nintendo DS Decepticons version.
  • Best Buy – Free movie ticket upgrade to 3D.
  • Toys R’ Us – Exclusive Inverted Bumblebee in-game character skin for the Nintendo 3DS version of the game.
  • Target – Exclusive Bumblebee Deco in-game character for the Nintendo DS Autobots version of the game and Wii game and exclusive Lockdown Deco in-game character for Nintendo DS Decepticons version.

I HATE all these "preorder" exclusive crap. Ive been burned waaaay too many times to preorder anything besides things I KNOW ill love like BF3, and Operation Flashpoint Red River.

Ill gamefly it, and see…I still woulda rather had this with the ROTF engine..WFC is cool, but I like sandbox type, open games..

No preorder for me. Its almost as if the preorder gimmicks are just another nudge to get you to buy a game sight unseen without official reviews, Then you get suckered into a turd game with content that will be released later anyway..

I'll help you out then, O.F. Red River isn't that good and super frustrating. Save your money. I'm getting this then buying the DLC later on and get all at once like last time.

(start crazy talk:)  Awwwmannnn…I was really hoping Shockwave would be a special character that had a code from Gamestop, so I could put it on Ebay for double the amount of the game price to recoup my costs, and buy a Sentinel Prime early from Target, before they release the character online for free a month later. :lolol

Hm, it depends. I'll probably wind up picking it up from Gamestop because I don't like preordering from Amazon. I'll just walk into Gamestop and buy it, regardless of whether or not I get Sideswipe because I did the samething with best-Buy and got Jazz anyways.

Maybe Blockbuster will get one too. I remember Jazz being a pre-order character for WfC here.

I guess in all fairness it's nice of them to include characters who couldn't fit into the main story.

IIRC Jazz was also a Game exclusive.

Even if the Autobots get more gametime, I want to play as both factions.

Just because you have 1 campaign doesn't mean you one play as 1 team :)  Nah, you play as the Decepticons too. Soundwave/Laserbeak, Starscream, Megatron so far. Haven't you seen the screens?

You have to remember that this is only 1 campaign so expect only the main bots to be playable.

the only main bots would be optimus, ironhide, ratchet, and bumblebee. out of those 4 i think sideswipe is next in line

If they do give us some G1 Characters, it'd be awesome to see them get Stealth Force modes. G1 Bumblebee decked out with guns would be funny.

Next person to say "punch buggy" gets it in the face.

Obviously it's because they couldn't find a way to fit his character into the story. Did you really expect him to be in there? I'm not surprised about Ratchet either. I'm sure Mirage was added 1) because he's new 2) he adds a new element of gameplay (stealth)

I hope they're dedicated to this game after (which I doubt since WfC2 is in the works) but at least in RotF we got an extra 8 characters and 3 repaints. I doubt HMS will be as kind as to provide G1 skins (they won't even have stealth force). I hope that we'll get all the movie bots playable.

As for me, I'll be getting it on Amazon. Poor ratchet doesn't get enough love. Anyway, I'm sure SS and Ratchet (and maybe more) will be in the game's first DLC pack, just like WfC had Shockwave and the rest.

Man High Moon messed up here. Why can't we play as Sideswipe during story mode? I mean it's bad enough we're restricted to 1 character. Even the newbie Mirage has his own level. And with if PSN ever goes down again (or ever comes back for that matter) I'll only be able to use Swipe online. Lame.
