We flash backwards to Transformers Reveal the Shield G2 Optimus Prime today, why? Because with the current update to Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus, I thought it was at least high time I look at this mold, a version of the G2 Autobot leader that many seem to adore to this day.
Technically, correct. However, if you look at the back of the box at around 18 seconds into the video, Prime transformed it EXACTLY as Hasbro did in the picture. The wheels are not pushed in and the sword is in his hand the same way Prime put it in. I appreciate you pointing this out. Maybe Prime just didn't know any better. If this had been a regular review rather than a "quickie" review, I'm sure he would have pointed these things out. I'M just the producer!
Never ever ever use a Hasbro promo photo as reference, they're almost always mistransformed in some way. Funny review though, as usual.
Great review but when you a review a figure try not to mistransform it. The wheels collapse into thighs as the black panels along the back of his legs fold in. You also put the sword backwards. You also didn't point out the Matrix in his chest. SO the review is really missing many elements of this figure.
Otherwise it's really cool that you do the reviews in G1 voices haha.

Optimus Prime FINALLY gets to review… HIMSELF!!! Leave a comment about his awesomeness on the video and win the chance to get the figure for free! More reviews coming!!!
Thanks For the Video Review.
Before I was not even going to buy this version of Optimus. But now that I See what it looks like, I am so going to get one for my collection.
Is anyone else allowed to review new Transformers or is this guy the only one whose opinion matters?
plenty of other people do review transformers, it's just peaugh gets a lot of them first, there are alternatives, personally i like peaugh's reviews, some of the other earlier video reviewers just annoy me. (not namng any names)
I've been saying from the very beginning that this figure looked really cool, and this video really drives the point home. The truck clashes, but that's because it's Generation 2 and more to the point, to establish the look in robot mode.
As for the robot, I'm a total sucker for "swordsman" transformers, and Hasbro has really been nailing hands lately. I want this guy to fight Drift. The hilt of the sword is the trailer hitch? That's hilariously genius. And for the umpteenth time, the "movie" influence is radically overstated. The sword, yes, it's a synthesis. The flames, double homage to the movie and the G2 trailer.
The head? That doesn't have an ounce of movie style, or any other style. It's just Classic OP with some blue pointies, a couple of which are right off the G2 toy anyway. It also has a sculpted in 1986 Movie/Season 3 Matrix!
This is a really quirky and cool-looking mold, and even though I have way too many Primes, it will be mine.

Anyone is allowed to review anything they want. It's just a simple matter of Peaugh, Emgo and a couple others that regularly get new figures before their mass-retail release, so they typically are the first ones to be able to post reviews.
I was looking forward to this guy, but now he's a pass until the Scourge repaint comes along. The vehicle mode is nice, but the sudden shift in colors messes it up. Even worse, it falls victim to the "poorly matched windows" curse that seems to be plaguing the toy lines lately. The robot mode itself looks blobby, for lack of a better term.

forgot to mention, the views of Optimus Prime do not necessarily reflect those of jon3.0. i'm personally not a fan of the figure.

I don't see anyone stopping you. Did you notice that this thread is in the middle of a forum where several other folks have posted reviews?

He just gets them first. Because he has money. Oh well.
Frankly I don't trust anyone's opinion but my own and a few close personal friends.
