Hasbro has scrapped any plans to release the upcoming Powercore Combiner Spastic with Stunticons set in the United Kingdom and Europe due to outcry from the United Kingdom. The word “spastic” is seen as offensive in the United Kingdom, while the word itself in the United States is seen more as a slang term for someone who is hyperactive or clumsy due to hyperactivity.
The original story can be found on various websites on the Internet.
The news comes as a resounding blow to the hearts of millions of children in Europe who have adored the Powercore Combiners, as they have undoubtedly heard how amazing and breath-taking the toys are here in the United States. The toy is still planned for a January 2011 release in the United States, if someone will just buy all the freaking Combaticon and Aerialbot sets still sitting in my local WalMart.
The overall response from TFW2005.COM UK members? “Like we get wave 3/4/5 of ANYTHING anyways.”
At least Slag now has a friend to hang out with in the mists of obscurity on the other side of the pond. Or is his name Snarl now? Maybe it was Grimstone … I can’t remember.
