A preview page has surfaced from Hobby Magazines October Issue showing more pictures of the upcoming Masterpiece Rodimus Prime by Takara/Tomy. The preview page reveals that one of the figure’s gimmicks will be his flip out binoculars which he used in the 1986 Transformers: The Movie. Also we can see several size comparison shots next to the original G1 Rodimus Prime toy. Click the thumbnail to see the preview page up close and click DISCUSS to share your thoughts on this upcoming masterpiece.
Batman
Looking good
Can't wait for color photos

Im guessing a big constraint on the size of his robot mode would be that his vehicle mode not tower over MP Optimus's truck mode. It is the first land vehicle alt. since prime. Anyone have pics of G1 Rodimus prime in alt mode next to masterpiece optimus in the same position as the magazine scan?
Kranix
go back through this thread and the original, its been done about 10 times, but i forgot the height
Tigermegatron
Please can someone who has a MP Grimlock toy out on display. please measure the robot mode from head to toe. i'm kinda curious how tall the toy is in robot mode.
my guess is MP Grimlock is around 9 & 1/4 inches tall in robot mode.

Im still super excited for this guy. I had a g1 Rodimus when I was little, before I even knew who he was and I remember spending hours with that strait legged, un-articulated bot and if all we get out of this is a Modern Day, 10 inch Rodimus Prime I'll be extremely happy. Throw in Hot Rod, which seems to be more and more plausible with all the extensive pouring over of images and put me down as having not a single qualm about dropping the $200 for this figure.

also a smaller megatron would mean a more life size gun.

Yeah, I'm fine with the smaller size. Grimlock and the Seekers are great figures and big enough to get the detail but not overly large to take up too much space or be unweildy. I'm glad they did MP Megatron the size they did to offset MP Prime but I'm also glad they've made the rest of the MPs smaller.
And I think that if/when they do an MP Galvatron, they would make him comparable to Rodimus. They purposefully made Megatron a size to match Prime, I dont know why they wouldnt do so again with Galvatron and Rodimus.
Valkysas
I like the smaller scale. MP Prime's size and weight makes it a pain in the ass to do anything with him.
I'd only be mad if the eventual MP Galvatron was a different scale than Rodimus.

Seems like the two iconic characters of transformers got big statueesque figures and everyone else is in line with eachother somewhat. yeah grimlock could be a little bigger but not too much. Mp01 is overly huge if you ask me. 12 inch tall toys take up way too much space.

I kinda of have to agree and disagree. I think that from Grimlock on, they should have established some relative size that they wanted, which appears to be what they did. I don't however care that MP Rodimus won't be a mammoth like MP Prime and Megs. All in all, as long as MP Galvatron (you know he's gotta be coming) is in scale with MP Rodimus, I'm fine with it.
And I've been thinking about accessories some more. I think I'd be happy if he just came with Hot Rod's guns/Rodimus' Gun and a Matrix. Anything like his buzzsaw, fishing rod, daniel, or a Target Master would just be a bonus at this point.
Valkysas
They could actually do that with the existing transformation… head wouldnt be able to look up anymore probably, but putting something in the chest could push something that goes all the way up the neck and enables the face switch.
but that's really, really wishful thinking and so not going to happen.
GreenScream
Really digging these new pictures.
In terms of scale, I could care less. Once you accept the fact that the MP figures are not of scale to one another, it makes collecting them all the better. Masterpiece to me simply means the definitive version of the character. Plus it gives me hope that they'll tackle a G1 combiner at some point.
Anti Spark
I would want one thing.
A special lock that uses the Matrix from MP Prime as a key.
So no Rodimus Prime until he gets the Matrix. LOL
PoweredConvoy
He'll have his gun(s) and matrix I think.
I wouldn't be surprised by the buzzsaw or welding tool.
Anything else is probably asking too much.
I would like a Targetmaster Hot Rod release later though with fully poseable Firebolt.

I'd prefer his accessories be:
the Matrix
HR's Targetmaster gun
HR's buzzsaw
chrisr291
The only accessories Rodimus needs are
1. Matrix
2. Daniel or spike
Everything else would just be icing on the cake
mags2424
Could definitely see a 3rd party co. doing this though.

Except the training robot would have to be as tall as Rodimus, thereby doubling the price.
mags2424
For me the top 5 woulr be:
1) Matrix
2) Sheild
3) Energy Sword
4) (dare i say the training robot too?)
5) Targetmaster Gun
protostar8
4. Energon Chips w/ container (from the movie)
5. Buzzsaw
6. Exosuit Daniel would be even cooler…lol
I also hope they tint the windows blue. No clear plastic laziness.
