For those eagerly awaiting the release of Fansprojects newest upgrades (like myself), they have started showing up in the US (and Canada) and our own daelite20 has already picked up two sets so that we may live vicariously through him until BBTS and TFSource get their shipments.
I won’t spoil the transformation by posting all the pics of the instructions here (which *spoilers* are included in this review) however, on the last page is an interesting little feature showing the line of Fansprojects Crossfire products. Included is of course 01 (Superion) and 02 (Bruticus) but also there is a space for 03 (?). What could this be? The new combiner they are working on? Or perhaps Devastator will be getting the Fansproject treatment as well.
Check out daelite20s full gallery of pictures by clicking on the title and I hope it helps sooth the wait by even just a little.

This is probably a late post and sorry to bump this thread, but if you look at the missile pod that plugs into Explorer to attach him to Onslaught for combiner arm mode, you can see two tiny pegs at the top of the bigger pegs that slide into Explorer to form Bruticus' arm. My question is, if you disassemble the combiner, how do you remove that missile pod from Explorer without putting strain on those tiny pegs and potentially breaking them? It seems like a very tight fit to get that missile pod to plug into Explorer, and getting it out again seems to require some force, which once again, leads me to be concerned that those little pegs can break off because of the stress. Thank you.

Are there photos of the new recoloured set used with the Universe Bruticus? Thanks.

Random question, but I don't suppose anyone has a pair of the Takara United grey energon hands/feet/weapons that the Crossfire set replaces – specifically the two radar/guns that come with the tank mold – that they would be willing to sell/trade with me?
Note – I'm based in the UK. Please do PM me if interested.

I think I found some new ways to configure the parts. New to me, anyway.
It all started with my frustration with the missile pods. I like the look of the missile pods on the helicopter, but the joint is too loose, and the pods won't stay up! So I tried to look for an alternate way to use the pods.
The missile pod (the one that connects the helicopter to Bruticus) fits just fine on Swindle. Just loop the hole through the peg in Swindle's gun, and it makes for a fairly convincing Humvee with a missile attachment.
The other missile pod (the one that connects Blastoff to Bruticus) attaches just fine to Bruticus' foot in base mode. Doing this with the other missile pod runs into the same issue as pegging it into the helicopter (gravity pulls it down).
And lastly, I was also kind of annoyed that Bruticus' hands had no clear place to go when Onslaught is in base mode. I like this configuration so much, I think I'll keep it this way even when Onslaught is in truck mode.
And…voila! All parts are used!

Ah, thank you. That really is great work.

Onslaught is ROTF like the rest of the set.
Soundwave3k makes the heads, but he's not making them anymore because the molds are spent I believe.
He painted them to match the set exactly, TOP notch quality, looks exactly like the G1 cartoon.

This.

Thanks man – much appreciated.

Munitioner can combine w/o add-on bits (though, I'm not sure if the Energon weapons will fit on him as a foot), but Explorer's port is in the missile pod.
Acidophilus
Very nice looking heads. How/where did you get those? Is that Onslaught one from RID?

This is a good time to put my pics up, now that they are finally done.

Random question for anyone with this set (and apologies if previously answered): can the FP figures combine using the original energon weapons as hands / feet, rather than using all of the additional combiner parts?
I realise it wont look as cool, but I'm interested in whether you can strip the set back to just the figures and a weapon each and still build a version of Bruticus.
Does Explorer/Blastoff even have a combiner port?
Cheers

Thats a nice set piece. Who makes that one?

Just thought I'd share a new "arsenal drone" config I came up with…
..for when the combaticons are in botmode, but don't need to be armed to the teeth.
And an obligatory group shot…

By the way, they don't come with the Bruticus parts. It's been known since release. Sorry you feel ripped off but they are really cool figures none the less.

AAARGH!!! I just received Flameblast and Warcry and didn't know they don't come w Bruticus parts. LAAAAAAME!!!
TFao
100% agreed.
Bountyan
Just Onslaught and Vortex in general. They're not as accurate as they could be but I like their sculpts.
TFao
Did you mean you like the way Onslaught and Vortex look overall, or the way I loaded them up with weapons? Either way, I have to agree with you on all three counts.
KP gots it right. Don't know if I was the first one to config Brawl's weapons like this, but I posted it early on and haven't changed him since.
I do the same as Bountyan. I detach the head and store it in Onslaught's backpack. It leaves a nice platform for a place to store one of the missle clusters I added from the 1/48 Macross Valkyrie.
