Board member Runamuck has sighted Masterpiece Grimlock available on the shelves of a Toys R Us in Allen Texas! The figures are priced at $69.99. Go get ’em!
Toys R Us near me had two Masterpiece Grimlock figures as of Saturday, Oct. 3rd. I would guess they re-stocked the figure on Thursday or Friday. What a surprise. I was expecting these to disappear from store shelves entirely.
I will check that same store later this week to see if he's still around.
hmmmm, what do you guys think this will eventually sell for after they sell out? I don't really have the money for this now, but I should be getting a full time job in a few months. I'm trying to decide if I should just suck it up and buy now or wait…but i dont want to wait if its going to be ridiculously priced
If I had to take a guess I would say that it may go for between 100 to 125 on cheap side. Seems like some third party place are already selling him for this though, so it might be higher, due to exclusivity by TRU, but the Tak version should offset the price too, so time will tell.
But everytime I see an MP prime in MIB or MISB condition I have to bang my head on a wall. Still can't believe I passed on him. Dammit!!!!!

I picked one up for my co-worker. I loved Grimlock as a figure, but don't have $75 at the moment to drop on him.
The weird thing is that he was not in the main Transformers section. My local TRU had an aisle a couple over that had figures from NECA toys as well as some of the TRU-exclusives. If I hadn't looked down near the lower shelves, I would have missed MP Grimlock. They just had 3 in stock at that time. Strange that they stocked the TRU-exclusive Twins/Demolishor 2-pack with the regular TF section, but not Grimlock.
Finally got mine recently. The Toys R Us in my area did re-stock the following week like they said. He's a great figure – I have the first MP Prime and the MP jets. He's easily my favorite next to MP Prime.
Scalpers create artificial scarcity in order to make a profit. Don't do that and then tell me to like it.
Agreed.
But the point is that MP Grimlock just came out and there will be more, I read that there are an additional 2000 coming out for September. There will be more later on too. I understand how supply and demand work, and I am sure Hasbro does as well. Patience may be in order for this thing for some of the buyers though. Its hard not to want to buy from scalpers but eventually Grimlock should see a market saturation point. It probably wont be like MP Skywarp where you can pick one up for 30.00 or less on clearance, but it should be more available.
BTW, props to you for selling your third one at cost plus shipping.
Although Cinder's actions look like scalping, everybody body needs to take a deep breath and take a step back.
There's no point in equivocation. Cinder's actions are, in fact, scalping. Nobody made him brag about it, and nobody made him act all pissy when a spade was called a spade.
It's not as if this is libel. You just don't like the connotations of a word that can accurately be used to describe this action.
I found three Grimlocks at TRU and bought them all. One's for me. One's a gift for a friend. One I'm selling at cost because I want someone on this board to get this toy at a fair price.

Folks get a chance to order stuff…if it goes out of stock it does…that does not give them the right to act like 2 year olds to folks that did manage to order the item they were trying to get…
My post was meant to show that I am not acting like the others on this board that are butt hurt that they could not get a grimlock from TRU's site when it was up on preorder and feel the need to call everyone a scalper that ordered more than one…
The punch counter punch transformer is another fine example of this crap going on…the ones that could not get it ordered feel the need to pitch fits since they could not get one ordered…get over it folks…it is a plastic toy…there are more important things in life…
FYI: Scalping will never be taken too kindly around these parts.
Anyone know what the distribution is like around the States? I've been looking at various sighting threads and there doesn't seem to be a set pattern or shipment wave moving through, seems kinda random.
Trying to get this topic back on track, as it were, according to TRU here in Frederick MD, there are none in their supply warehouse and therefore none in this area, WV, VA and some of PA so far
But by posting on here that you purchased 2 extra with the intent of selling them you are just proving their point. You purchased extras of a hard to get item with the sole intent of reselling them for a higher price. Also known as scalping.
Exactly how does their misplaced disappointment justify your bragging about scalping?
Although Cinder's actions look like scalping, everybody body needs to take a deep breath and take a step back. This toy just came out. It will see a state of proliferation as long everybody does not buy 10 ea. (actually I am hearing that now it is more like 3 per customer or even 1 per customer, in the stores anyway)
I got mine the hard way with a fistful of boomstick and diversionary tactics, no way I was gonna let that super cute soccermom get one for her six year old. I wouldn't even let my teenage son play with this…oh wait I am digressing.
Anyway, Cinder, I dont think you are scalping at this point, because its a toy that just hit and will see a wider distribution during its lifecycle, but I do think you are bragging about it and your comment about throwing 2 on ebay is like a slap in the face to some around here.

They seem to be shelf warming over here in NJ. I've seen them at multiple TRU for a few weeks now.

Yep, 3 Grimlocks there yesterday, so they haven't completely disappeared from Toys R Us. Good news for those that don't own one yet.
