Taking a break from all this exciting movie news, Gametrailers.com has posted a video staring Hasbro’s own Aaron Archer and game creator Matt “Tieg” Tieger giving a sneak peek at the story behind Transformers War for Cybertron and basically the whole Transformers Great War. Beware there are spoilers in the following video, but enjoy none the less.
SPLIT LIP
Megatron doesn't have noble intentions, he has selfish motivations he thinks are noble.

Man the gameplay looks awesome and i like how they are stiching the history of the Transformers together. Now we will have the one continuity and know how G1 and it all started.
I certainly hope they end up producing a full toy line for them. It would look so awesome.
As for megatron and his "heroism", i think the Dark Knight sums it up "you either die the hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villian." Megatron at one time just have had noble intentions. Another good example is Sinestro from Green Lantern.
Transformed
I lol'ed when I heard him say that too.
TwinSpin
Watch it again – he says it twice, "Even I…". Egomaniac. Why wouldn't he be impressed? The design team on WFC has created better looking stuff than anything he's gotten to work with since TFA IMHO. "Even I…" LOL

What Sso02V said.
I don't mind macguffins, or even some cliches to a degree, but it's just the concept of taking an already existing macguffin and then applying the word "Dark" to it, is such a cheap thing to do, I can't help but roll my eyes at it.
But like I said, I can live with it. I'm not saying the game is now total fail or anything silly like that. It's just a cynical critique.
Autobot_Wall-E
It looks like they're setting up Starscream for a pretty interesting story element. I can't wait to see how some of the relationships between characters develop.
Leadfoot
I don't think he meant it that way. He's the director of the entire Transformers universe for Hasbro. That's a pretty big deal. I think he was just saying that given all his responsibilities and required knowledge of Transformers lore, it is a credit to the game that he finds it impressive.

"This game plays in a way that EVEN I am very impressed with." -Aaron Archer
What an egomaniac fool!!!!
jgoss
very nice i'm counting down the days until WFC comes out i can't wait!!!
Deadend
Is it june yet?

lol So did i actually …..

I always thought it was called Dark Energon because it didn't glow, so it was really Energon only dark. :/
Sso02V
I don't think the issue is that Megatron found a more powerful fuel source, it's that it's DARK ENERGON, oOoOoOoOo!
It gets refined into Nepharium! A key component in Eviluminum!
Ceasar121
Hate to critique the critics (especially here on thes boards), but seriously people when has Megatron not been seeking Energon, much less a more powerful form? Nearly every story has a macguffin, and a Transformers story was guaranteed to have "copout" one anyway… be it the Matrix etc… I have to believe Aaron Archer wouldn't let them stray to far from certain established principals.
I just can't understand why people worry about what's cliche in a story, so longs as the rest of it works. Almost every good story contains some major cliche elements… it makes it relatable.
This looks great… I hope it's all that it appears to be building up to be.
Paxtin
I'm not usually one to complain about cliches, but the reveal of Dark Energon did make me groan: "Ugh…Really? You go to all this trouble and detail to make this great game rooted in TF lore, and you're going to throw Dark Energon at us?"
Yeah…In all honesty I can live with it. But it does feel like a kind of cheap copout macguffin.
General Magnus
Yeah.. I never liked that origin, familiar or not. A mere dock worker becoming the leader of the Autobots.. nah. Makes more sense if he becomes a soldier, then a field commander then leader of the Autobots.

I completely suck at 3rd-person action games like this (terrible vertigo problems I incurred in college), but I'll be darned if I don't at least pick this game up and at least try to get better at them. Everything so far seems really well thought out and executed well, especially the team aspects and the storyline. I love how they are going with Optimus being a seemingly reluctant leader, and how he scraps together a team to defeat Megatron. It adds to the legend and reinforces Optimus' and the Autobots legacy as real heroes. That's probably the main reason I loved the Animated Optimus as well.
So, potentially great game + already impressive upcoming corresponding toys = my nerd heaven

IDK if I said this before but the designs look ALOT better in movement than official art or screenshots, specially Starscream.

Nice find (sort of) i hadn't noticed it on bumblebee's back.
