New images have surfaced at UGO.com of the Optimus Prime and Megatron figures for the Transformers: War For Cybertron toy line. They are based on the upcoming video game from Activision. Click the image to the left to view them in all of their glory!

I agree with the majority of your post. He's just mistransformed in that pic. It's not a matter of odd proportions.
But eh.. I think those ridges aren't tank treads…; the vehicle mode has those ridges are vertically ; so they're actually rubber hovercraft skirts. Megatron's a hovertank.

I'm dying to see some new pictures of these. Tired of seeing Megatron's arm so sloppily mistransformed, it looks like it would have taken 5 seconds to fix that before they shot the photo!!
RedAlert Rescue
I hate to disagree with anyone on the Internet… but if you look at the arms again more closely I think the pieces inside his arm are the parts that latch his forarms together… the sticky up bit near the edge is a pin that's not been pushed in all the way. the other peices marked with arrow are castors for the vehicle mode.
Half of his hand and thumb (on the left side) has been swung out the other half of his hand is inside the other 'tread' and the curve can be seen in the tread where it rotates out so he'd have quite small hands Possibly weapons might also be able to be plugged onto him some how (perhaps onto a hole or slider bar on the other side of his arm we can not see in the current pics).
It looks like his hand is designed to hold 5mm type weapon hafts. which can be judged by the curvature of his thumb and visible fingers.
I think the piece inside his forarm serves no function in robot mode other than to hold his arms together but might also be a latch used in vehicle mode as I think his treads are spread out when he's in that mode.
I think the slight misallignments seems to suggest his elbow can swivel above the join and that when his arms spread out to become treads they also rotate below the split 180 degree each so the split is inside the inner part of the treads and the piece inside his forearms would face inwards. and possible what is used to link it to the vehicle body at another point to add stability. so you then have one thin long skinny track on each side of the tank with possibly a slight gap half way along so he's got 4 tracks really like so many Tank Transformers now do. though the edges of the tracks look quite straight so it might look like one track not 4.
So despite the CGI model looking like he's a hover tank it seems he does have treads on the underside after all.

Pretty awesome looking figures, especially the Prime. Megs could be better, but I think I might get these at some point.
Excelsior Prime
Since I decided to give up on ROTF stuff (excluding what can pass as Classics/Universe) this will be the only line I'll be collecting until Generations kicks off.
Of course, it all depends on what the new series will be. If it's tied to WfC as a sequel, then I'll have to take a serious look at it.
And I think these guys look great despite the idiots who mistransformed them.
Veloxiraptor
I wish we could see this Optimus from a different angle. All that crap sticking out the sides of his torso just makes him look all fat and dumpy.
thygriever
Man that Optimus rocked. Very cool looking besides his legs looking a bit stubby for me? However I like how his head is now proportionate to his body where in the trailers it was really really small lol
SPLIT LIP
He's based of fthe game, but characters can pick up weapons and have melee and ranged attacks.
AniProwl
He's actually a hover tank similar to those that the droids from the Star Wars prequel trilogy drove around.
KingGrimlock
I think its supposed to look like animated cybertron megatron's alt mode.
doomtron
he is deluxe and so is megs i cant wait!
Scarletcrawler
Seems like Optimus toy is based in an early concept:
Notice the gun, the wheels and the silver windshield
Bovril
OP looks OK-ish, if rather bland.
Megatron is a mess… again. So many toylines where Megs doesn't get a decent mold…
Cybertron modes never really appealed to me, they're not really 'robots in disguise' if they all turn into mechanical housebricks!
Alpha-trion
Hey guys it has been a while since I have posted here at TFW2005 so for starters…hello.
I think that these figures are awsome and I am really looking foward to getting the game. For x-mas I got a PS3 so now it is a must have. I didn't get a chance to read this thread throughly but if they mass realease these that would be great. Hasbro needs something to keep up collectors buying. now that ROTF had it run and Animated being pretty much done this may be a new line to threaten our wallets

The more pictures I see of Prime I'm really digging him. Are there pictures anywhere on the net of Bumblebee's vehicle mode? Not liking the Megatron at all.
Ravenxl7
It's been described as a limited line. In fact, from what we know, it isn't even an entire line on it's own, just a part of the continuation of Universe under the name TF:Generations. Not that we won't be getting more than the four we know about, just that I'm not expecting many, if any at all, more.
Shizuka
This isn't a limited line is it? They're not going to release a few figures only are they? If not then we should expect voyagers presumably with their melee weapons
