See, I thought about that before I attacked that decision & think it's not only possible, but better — or so I thought…
Was just going over the renders again & realized that though I'm right in that it would make his transformation more movie accurate (would need a traveling shoulder using a small arm that would carry it up the chassis from behind the seats to the tire well – in the same manner that LDR OPs hitch becomes his waist), it would also involve making the tire well itself, rotate inward on the forearm to become the tire stabilizer. Plus it would also mean making a small arm on the upper arm that would allow the rear quarter panel to flip over the tire well & then a hinge to rotate it 180 degrees (so the slogan "To Punish & Enslave" would be on the inside of the arm) while allowing the tire protecting forks to stay on the inside…
In short, more trouble than it's worth – I'm off to bed…
I still find it fairly odd that they made the same mistake TWICE, with his arms upside down – not surprising as they re-used much of the same transformation layout:
Looks cool and will most likely get it… But do you guys notice that the vehicle mode is missing some details on the car such as the numbers 911 on the sides… The fuel cap should also be black.. Bugs me that its not black.. And the word POLICE on the rear spoiler is inverted.. Shouldn't it be the other way around….???? The deluxe Barricade got it right… >>> http://www.toystoreinc.com/catalog/barricade.jpg
I just got my HA Barricade from BBTS. There are no forward and backward hip joints, just an angled rotation joint. It severely limits the poseability of the figure. He looks cool though.

Picked up one today in Taiwan and I must say that Barricade easily surpasses Bumblebee and Skids.

GREAT review. Informative and entertaining. Likely to be the only HA I get. I want him, dare I say…id hit that. Barricade looks amazing
In response, I am not sure how they could uninvert the arms to make it CGI accurate

Wouldn't it have been better to just attach the pic?

But they're both lacking in details when compared to the real thing:

So, yeah, there's discrepancies, but it's also a toy… so I'll take it as it is & hope/wait on Reprolabels to hook us up.
