HobbyLinkJapan has updated the stock status for upcoming Takara Tomy Chrono Label products indicating that the line may be canceled. Listings for both Time Limit and Autocepter now show a “discontinued” stock status, even before they were ever released. This means that the retailer has no stock of them coming, and they can no longer acquire them from their suppliers. Keep in mind that this may only be a hiatus and the products could still eventually see the light of day.

Haha. Awesome.

I thought they were cool, and was willing to buy one.
That's before we got the price, that is.
The label series toys have always been a bit expensive, but what they were asking for this was insane.

Hmm, I guess there IS a limit to how much people (including the Japanese) will pay for electronic novelties.
DrillBIT
and I love how the japanese react to the news.

Cancellation confirmed. according Big Be, japanese toy retailer's entry at Rakuten:
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/bigbe/19505/
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/bigbe/19504/
clearly written as "発売中止", means "Cancelled".

Why am I not surprised?

So, I can't spend hundreds of dollars on a toy that turns into a real working watch that I could have gotten as a kid out of a GUMBALL MACHINE? NO!!!!!!
Okay, I exaggerate, but… seriously. These things are ugly watches. These things are ugly robots. Other than additional articulation, they don't have any major engineering advances over the ones I got as a kid (They don't incorporate the strap, the watches themselves are simple). There's no nostalgia factor because they don't look like ANYTHING.
They AREN'T worth $300, and I don't know how Takara thought they could sell them for that. I could buy Masterpiece Grimlock and a REALLY good watch for that much.
I'm guessing this was the brainchild of a new department that hasn't quite gotten it's head around the appropriate price point for this sort of thing. Either that or they spent WAY too much developing this thing.

I hope that they do get cancelled on principle alone. If they were to release them with less gadgetry for $50, okay. If they released other molds with less gadgetry that turned into G1 inspired figures like the Blaster USB Hub or Ravage USB Drive or Grimlock Mouse for $50 or even $100, okay, but as is they were a big mistake.

One of the rare times Takara/Tomy made me go "WTF?!?!?"
They're cancelled? GOOD.
Waverider
I could buy a much nicer watch than what they wanted this for. I would wear this if I was 11 years old.
Railguard
Too expensive and they don't look worth it.
Dran0n
Good. They're to expensive anyway.
saberconvoy
not a surprise their
TIE Bomber
Oh hell no! I was going to get 2 of each! I hope my pre-orderes don't get canceled. Okay, I checked my email, so far so good! I hope they don't get canceled & I'll still be able to get them.
jazz1autobot

This right here needs to happen.

HLJ lists things as Discontinued before they come out all the time. Just last week the listed a figure as
"NO LONGER TAKING PRE-ORDERS. followed by DISCONTINUED. followed by SOLD OUT followed by AUGUST RESTOCK"
imwthstpd
no one cares…. untill they found out it got direct tv and does all the work arond the house…
Tomiku
…so, wait, this "news" is based on an HLJ listing? HLJ? You guys are aware they toss around the "discontinued" status like it was going out of style. Like, an item that's been recently released, but the factory is still making more, will get marked as discontinued simply because they ran out of stock and are too lazy to get more. Most likely HLJ just filled all their preorders.

These thing were ugly. They were overpriced and over-chromed RealGear figures. Big meh.
