Precisely. Here's betting the line "This is better than I thought it would be" is said during the first review. I personally think that he is rather brilliant. However, I have never been much of a fan of gestalts. This and the Legends class version are mine!
Bgrngod
If I remember correctly, it was estimated to be around 16 inches tall based on people's guesses at Toyfair and the pictures that came from that event.
iwasherenotyou
how ya know optronix?
looks like devastator be a dumbass bitch.
"I am decepticon!"
Optronix_prime
You guys are going to be very disapointed, This thing isn't even 12inches.
MegaHavok
He is not out of scale with legends figures
Prescient
I wonder if like Jetfire, until we get some fan galleries giving some decent shots, poses and scaling with the other characters most of us will remain indifferent.
It will only take a hand full of shots which shows him to do some great poses next to G1 Devs or munch a deluxe before people begin to crack.
He may be out of scale with ROTF but he will be epically proportioned against a lot of the G1 line including the Combiners and Autobot cars / prime / seekers etc.
Sso02V
Don't get your hopes up. It doesn't even look like he has elbows.
MisfitRobot
I originally wasn't going to buy this toy, until I saw this picture.
if the LEDs make a decent green glow and I can fit mudflap in his mouth. This toy will be sold.
Also I hope the arms are stiff enough to be able to hold it a deluxe figure in his hand. And I really hope it makes a transforming noise when you stick the constructor cons together. I think these will be the deciding factors if people buy this toy or not.
Since they sacrificed the robot modes I'm expecting a lot of features and pose ability.
Dran0n
Still not very excited for this guy.

For some reason I want to see the genie's face on this thing. The one from Aladdin.
neospark1
Oh, look. 100 bucks for 4 paint apps. yay!

Has anybody noticed the difference between Devy's mouth in the box and the official photography on the back? I think the photography shows his grinder vortex thing.
Toxicon
Done.

1.Well we all know hasbro loves to milk a mold…of course thats actually more hope than anything that they would do it.
2.True…but it shows that they CAN make a bot in the movie line with three modes. Plus it looks super bad ass
Shin-Gouki
Oh Hell Yeah!
Might get a Oversized KO of the Legends version if that comes out.
Veloxiraptor
Uh, why? If the first Devs doesn't sell they're sure as hell not going to chance a more complex one.
I can't believe anyone would seriously make that comparison. All Jetfire does is wrap around Optimus's back.
Burnout
Amen Brother. Im sure some wily, crafty individual who makes customs will figure out a way to make them combine (the indvidual pieces) or give the big bot's pieces a single robot mode but hasbro shoulda done that in the firstplace. I mean if jetfire can have a bot mode, jet mode AND combine with prime then theres no reason devestator couldn't have a cbiner mode, vehicle mode and individual bot mode. Hasbro didnt think this one through or thought that even in the midst of a depression parents will buy their kids both big bot and small bots. I think that was what they are banking on and completeists who need everything in a line. Thank the gods i only want prime jetfire and sideswipe…maybe leader megatron but that will about do it unless they make a leader bonecrusher and voyager soundwave.

I've given this alot of thought because having a combiner Devastator seems almost too tempting to pass by, and the resale for this figure will be huge if I change my mind later.
However, the majority is absolutely right in this matter.
One member mentioned the cost of individual parts would add up to a higher sum; but the sale of these figures doesn't go by the cost of plastic solely. We live in a mostly capitalistic society where profit is determined by overhead in a ratio with demand. These figures do very little in terms of changing.
As for the drop test theory I just don't see it being an issue. There is an old phrase that says a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. If this hunched over gorilla had weaker joints to his arms (which i nthe case of him crawling would need more stability than actually designing firm poseable arms capable of holding delux figures in them) this would not be an issue.
The 2nd part of that is the whole size and weight issue. So you design the middle three combiners (and I am assuming Overload to be among them) to be less heavy than the leg and arm pieces, and down scale the damn thing. When we can have a deluxe figure like Lockdown rival the height of almost every voyager class to date then putting these guys in an oversized boxed giftset showcasing all six/seven vehicles would A) make it appear bigger and B) Allow them to shrink the overall scale. And yeah there would be some flack on the matter but not nearly as much as Hasbro is going to get at Botcon.
As far as individual modes versus the combined form, I don't think anyone is debating the matter that there would be compromises in one mode or another. But lets face it, people bought the deluxe figures from movie 1, the premium figures, the legends figures, the fast action battlers, the bumper battlers, the robot replicas; I think the fear of whether or not the robot modes of individual figures in a giftset would be saleable if that was the one that saw a sacrifice. Consider also that in Movie 2 we are looking at the Human Alliance modes of both Bumblebee and Sideswipe…. so far.
Detailing is another matter, we are seeing far less detailing on this combined Dev's compared to the deluxes. Sure some of the paint is missing from these individual figures but the molds are superior.
Lastly and this one tops it all off really, the Devastator we are getting is completely inaccurate looking save for the face; and in light of more recent information does appear to be lacking a constructicon combiner.
"Combine" all these topic elements and you get a product that is overpriced, underwhelming and innacurate. The principle of the matter at hand is if you know you are going to be taken for a song, you are the only one you can blame later on.
I think I will be settling on individual 'cons, the legends devs' and a robot replicas eventually. The Supreme Devastator offers nothing new and delivers on less than what the company is capable of. Bottom line.
Burnout
man what a rip off no individual robot modes. I see hasbro a year later doing a "premium" series devstator that DOES have individual robot modes as i can see a lot of folks passing on this. While nice its kind of a huge let down that to have the individual bots we have to buy them seperately essentially spending anywhere between 300-400 some odd dollars to have the big bot and single bots.
