yayabeee of The Arker has posted another extensive Transformers Revenge of the Fallen image gallery. This time, the subject of the gallery is the new Leader Class Optimus Prime toy. Check out all the new images which show off the excellent range of poseability in the toy – including such poses as doing press ups and even balancing on one foot! If that is not enough, there are some comparison images with both versions of Megatron, Ironhide and others showing that this is the definitive Movie Optimus Prime toy!

Awesome review, thanks Peaugh! I watched it while eating breakfast,…good breakfast. Leader OP is amazing. I can't believe TFW has not frontpaged your video yet.

The pics don't load.

Weird. I haven't had any problems viewing the video since it went active. I just double checked and it definitely still works.

I can't get the video to play… Says it is not available… I can see why there is no news story or thread about it, as it doesn't work.

I'm surprised there's not a thread yet about Peaugh's review. This figure is easily the highlight of the ROTF line so far.

As hard as it may be, I'm going to try and hold off for premiums as well. Which sucks because I'm really wanting this figure.

Both exhausts can disconnect from the blue panels, turn 180 degrees from the connection at the end of each gas tank, and fold down at the pin near the bottom of the exhaust, so they are next to/flush against the gas tanks. This give his back an even more movie accurate look.
The only thing I don't like is how they ditched the extra moving parts of his side steps which would have given us gray plastic side steps and more proportionate outer sides to both his lower legs.
Also, his shoulder points and toes should be gray plastic instead of red, and he could REALLY shine with some more painted areas, as seen on the Prototype images.
Overall, most of this figure's colored areas are molded in correspondingly colored plastic and because of that, there really is not much paint to him. I think it's a great move since it eliminates the risk of sloppy paint, but it with all the remaining unpainted areas, even with them being small areas, you would have thought they could have painted them. Most notably the gold disks around his various joints.
With that in mind, and the same evidence on pretty much all the other movie figures (small amount of paint) I'm strongly holding off for the possibility of Premiums.

Awesome Figure, but, funny, and really out of place, the fact that the exhaust actually conects directly to the gas tank!

Looks great.

Damned you! Damned you all to HEEEEELLLL for not heeding my warnings! lol, Ok, anyone wanna guess at the next End Date? I call dibbs on 2013 (hehe, why give Conspiracy Theorist a vacation! Keep em on their toes!)

Two things bug me about him now.
First I have seen pics of him, show his wings without the smoke stacks lining them.
Which made me think, "hey cool they got it right." However, lately I've been seeing the stacks line them, when they should be to each side and straight up.
The second part I have mentioned before… The stupid wheels.
COME ON!!! I can do better then this.
The flap could fold down all the way, and then have the wheels slide up, so they can sit above the other wheel on his leg, thus both are flush.
These are the only two things keeping me from thinking he is anything special.
Sure they got a lot of other things right, but why pay 40 for something that has a lot of kibble that doesn't fall into the right places?
I guess I'll let fate decide after this supposed video review shows up today.
Peaugh
It's coming today!!

Just type "2012" into Google and you'll get all the info you need. It's basically just the new panic date that everyone decided to focus on now that 2000 came & went and we're all still here. Take it all with a miniscule grain of salt.

What? The end of the world?

Only a 2 year hiatus… just like between TF1 & TF2. Bay will take off summer '09 to summer '10, then start filming again later in the year and have it ready by summer 2011. He has much as already confirmed this.
Haha, I think everyone is aiming for 2011 just in case 2012 does end up being the end of the world – we'll all die easier knowing we got a completed TF trilogy.

Yeah, by 2012 we may get a leader prime where the rear wheel covers actually fold over the sides to form ribs. In this mold we see that, though they have figured out how to get the rear wheel covers to fold, they don't quite reach the sides of the robot- hence why they folded it up to the back instead.
But that is minor. Even if they don't make a masterpeice to this, i would be quite satisfied with the 2009 figure.
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE VIDEO REVIEW !!

I agree, in fact, the backpack design on this one is one of the major selling points for me on this figure. It's amazing what they've done, and I can't even begin to imagine what TF3's Leader Class Prime will look like.
Especially with a supposed 3 year hiatus in between. (two for filming and completing film, one year off for Bay)
We should see a Masterpiece-esque Optimus that will just absolutely floor and wow us.
I'm still stunned by this new Optimus…the transformation, I want to know how it works, so badly.
The only things I'm sad about are the headlights (superior on the original), paint apps (still not entirely movie accurate), and the lack of a gun (had to make room for the swords, but still…)
Those things can be dealt with however.

The backpack kibble is quite accurate to the movie design, notably the angled blue plates and the gas tanks. It's just impossible for it to fold as flat as it does in the movie.

Um… I was defending Hasbro. I was trying to say that since they share the duty of designing them with Takara, both share in the win and fail when the figures succeed or crash and burn.
And that the guy was missing the point that Hasbro's not only to blame when things go down the crapper.
