As promised, our own GenZhao has treated us to the second e-Hobby exclusive photo gallery in as many days. Today Black Megatron gets the spotlight. He is a Generation One Megatron recolored with a gunmetal black barrel and trigger and brown stock as an homage to the mold’s Microman original release, and was first released in 2001. The reissue came out this week along with Sunstorm and several of our sponsors still have preorders available for both exclusives!

That's an effect of the flash.
I don't have both, yet. But I'm willing to bet they are exactly the same as the people who had the original complained about the same thing how it was very light.
Here is some pictures of the original. Note that the chrome is a gray color and not black.
Black Megatron
The new one is probably exactly the same, just with the flash making it lighter.

Do you have a side by side comparison picture of the two? I've owned the original eHobby Megs and the chrome was definitely a black chrome vs. the standard silver chrome that is shown in the first post of this thread.

The previous version wasn't all black, it was like this one. The Microchange one was all black, and it had blue instead of red.
The black chrome is like the chrome on the original black reissue. More of a gunmetal color then black.

Aww man……. there goes the thought of buying him.
Sigh. ~*

Ugh. I was expecting the all black Megatron. ::cancells preorder:: Looks like I just saved $100.

The original colors are so much better…can't so much get into that doo-doo brown handle. But it is cool that it comes with the little plastic pellets! You wont be seeing these for sale in the U.S.!

It's worth it, but not as good looking as the original eHobby Black Megatron. You could always buy the #6 TFC Reissue Megatron
or locate the Encore Reissue if you prefer the G1 style box. In reality, you can't go wrong since its Megatron in all of his G1 goodness.

Very disappointing.
I actually ordered this thinking it was the all-black one again. (Many dealer sites were showing pics of the old one.)
If it happens to get nabbed by customs, I won't be all that sad.

the original black reissue has teh same sparkly plastic, the peg on the hand (the one you pull the hand out with) did break off on one hand, then again ive TF'd that thing many, many time since i got him about 6 years ago.

i have the original special black version, i always felt it had a 'richer' look than the normal chromed megatron. a favourite toy.

as someone who doesnt have the G1 Megatron (or any gun Megs, for that matter) and who loves 25th Anniversary Prime, would you say this guy is worth the price? cause i think he looks cool, but the price seems steeeeeeeep

soundwaveCA
Agreed.

Great, I Love Frankenstein!
Megaplex was Megatron's clone. This will be Black Megatron's clone & I name him Frankenplex maybe? *Evil laughs!*
UltraMagnus3786
that is some sweet ass

Glad I canceled my pre order. I'm not digging the mixing of the chrome and black. Very Frankenstein.

I prefer the original colors. A pass for me.
