Alternity Megatron is OK as a car I guess I think he's got a number of design problems though – many of which are shared by Alternity Convoy – but he seems less attractive in terms of general shape and overall details than Alternity Convoy. The chest is a bit messy looking his face looks melted and in general he looks like a generic Transformer as he's not really showing any design cues that scream Megatron it's a bit like that Shoe Transformer or the Gobot they called Megatron they didn't look much like him either.
I think the ankle design has problems, the arms are to short and as I mentioned the face sculpt is not as good as it could be either.
Valenti
I'd get them if I had the money. =P
Dormamu
He looks good as an Alternity line figure, but the head sculpt just isn't winning me over. Plus, the flip out blade is good, but I can definitely see him with Animated Cybertron Megatron's cannon modded on the arm with little problems to give him the proper homage.

Thanks for the info, atm every TF I have to import is expensive still Im leaning towards picking this up, but I'll wait for a review or 2 with so much coming to us this year that I already have on my wishlist

I really don't' like the head, and now with that price there is no way I'll purchase Megatron :\
Draven
At current rates, that makes it nearly $52. For a toy that's the size of a Deluxe, that's hilariously expensive.
magmatron
I wounder if the Cybertron Unicron face can be fitted on Megatron…
Rodr-Evil
Yeah, he looks badass!
DazzalingFury
I like the silver color scheme better, the blue looks odd for me cos its Megatron we're talking about
Type-R
MSRP is ¥4,725 and it's in 1/32 scale. Contains die-cast. March 26 release.
Smaller scale than Binaltech(1/24 scale) and slightly lower MSRP than BT (¥4,725 vs ¥5,250). However, due to the strong ¥, the exchange rate makes it appear quite pricey (depending on where in the world you are).
Lament
Whats this price and scale of this Megs? Im kinda diggin the silver version…
ShadowStitch
Bleh. Easy pass. Too expensive, Too small. One or the other has gotta give. Compromise, people!! Else I'll be seeing YOU and YOU on the clearance pages.
Plus, why re-use the Megatron and Prime characters AGAIN? I mean, come on….it was bad enough when they turned into SNEAKERS, haven't they milked the concept a good 10 years too long? How about some new original characters for a change? …Or is it only the Movies and Animated who are allowed to do that…

Nice ads. Thanks!
Odd that they were planning to use the '98 movie 'zilla design rather than the classic one in the first two ads. Not that the new Godzilla design was bad or anything, it's just not as iconic as the original.
The one childhood toy I most regret having thrown out (or rather my parents throwing out) was my old classic Godzilla. At least i got to keep all of my very sizeable G1 TF collection.

HELLZ yeah I agree on all parts, hahaha… good to hear from someone who knows about the car as well as the TF character.
Take a look at this, they are storyboards for a proposed commercial prior to the GT-Rs release…Probably for a car show unveiling. GT-R Godzilla awesomeness!!!! Would be great to have displayed with Convoy Godizilla. I really can't wait to get my hands on one!

Apparently the President of Nissan way back when decided to name the car after the musical "My Fairlady" after seeing it. He thought it would invoke an image of beauty.
I like the name, on the car that is. Used as Fairlady Megatron, it makes Megs sound like a fairy boy. Z Megatron works better. Alternity Convoy on the other hand gets to be called the much more badass sounding Godzilla Convoy.
cypherstorm
haha yeah I meant in the American version of the car… but yeah… still the fairlady Z in Japan. I always wondered where they come up with these names?
Automorpher
Sounds workable to me. AT LEAST Meg's got a gun in that sense. I'm not saying that he MUST wield a cannon here but He's GOTTA have a gun-like weapon or some sort.
Megatron (RID – Transformers Wiki – Teletraan I)
This was what I'd copy & pasted with regards to R.I.D Megatron:
He comes with a pair of pressure-launch missile launchers that can double as swords..
Movie Megatron: His hands combine to produce a Cannon-like weapon, no?
Verdict: He HAS to have a GUN!

I'm with you on the GT-R not being a Skyline. It's nice that it still kept the Godzilla nickname.
Megatron however is still a Fairlady Z (or Z34/370Z) but still a Fairlady Z.

I'm not gonna get in an argument about this… but on the wiki link you sent, the car convoy transforms into isn't featured on the page, that's the GT-Rs heritage though… After the 2004 model, they discontinued the Skyline GT-R. Here's Nissan Japans webpage (there's an english version)… there is both a Skyline (coupe and sedan) and GT-R. Straight from the japanese themselves: NISSAN : English TOP PAGE
IF you look at what a GT-R (R35) has… It's freaking bad ass… you should read up on it…. it makes me appreciate this line more, and probably the reason why they made Convoy a car, especially this one.
look at what they call a 370z….yikes! good thing they dropped the "fairlady" poor Megs.
After the 2004 model nissan discontinued the skyline. The new president took over the company and vowed to bring it back once he got Nissan back on its feet financially. The GT-R took 10 years to develop… so that's why the GT-R is a big deal… they brought back a classic. Or a monster should I say,.. often referred to as Godzilla. They did most of their marketing through manga and video games, not typical advertising methods (Playstation even designed the digital interface). I'm guessing the production of this toy and line is a partnership with Nissan to further promote Nissan's cars.
Anyhow, I love the Gunmetal Grey.. awesome. I can't wait to see what else they come up with.
Having these cars turned into transformers is a great thing.. reminds me of when i was a kid with my G1 Prowl…. it made me fall in love with cars, and the Z at that time.
sorry about the long entry, but just felt like it needed to be said.
