Posting earlier today on our 2005 Boards, Roberto Orci shared a few new pieces of information with us about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The big news today is about the length of the sequel:
“one new bit of info I can tell you is that the movie will be a longer than the first one (probably)”
Additionally, Roberto explained that the footage shown at the recent wrap party was not a trailer but rather select footage only, and did not show any footage of the robots. He does confirm though that to the best of his knowledge, all of the designs for the ‘bots are pretty much finished.
On behalf of the staff of TFW2005, I would like to thank Roberto Orci for his continued support and continuing to answer our questions about Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. If you have a question that you would like to ask, you may do so in the Welcome Mr Roberto Orci You May Ask him Questions thread on our 2005 Boards.

The human attention span has gone out the window. You're all complaining about the length of movies meant to entertain fer bootin' up cold. (Gosh it feels nice to ref Rattrap again.) Movies don't have to be super long, but I for one find no fault with long films. I can sit through them and enjoy them for what they are, escape from reality. They are also damn entertaining and sometimes a long film can really make you think, or laugh or heck even cry. If you're complaining about a film based on Transformers being too long when you love Transformers enough to buy the toys, and critique things to the nth degree on a message board then your ability to retain datum is insignificant next to the powers of the Force… Er wait, what I meant to say was, you should work on conditioning your attention span. (And your bladder.) Not since I was a child have I ever stepped out of any film for a bathroom break. I become far too engrossed in the film.
And I welcome the chance for the sequel to be longer than the first, as long as that length is used wisely and allows for greater character development of the Transformers themselves and no more of those stupid fleshlings. I hereby state emphatically that if Hollywood just draws out the human crap a second tme, I will be sorely tempted to leave a scathing post on this here message board. (Either that or roll my eyes and only see the film once in theatres instead of twice.)

If it NEEDS to be longer, I'm all for it. Personally I found the first film just a touch too short for some reason.
BUT, if they're just making it longer for the sake of making it longer, please don't.

That and it gives you another reason then to buy the DVD. Sort of like how I went ahead and got the Tropic Thunder DVD on release day because it offered up extra and extended sceens.
With any luck they would mix it into the DVD film and not do that annoying thing of making it part of the extras on the second disk or something.
WWMEGATRON
I would say from 2 and Half hours to 2:40-50 !!

With the budget they had the only people we'd get 'development' for are Maggie and Glen.
Length later, quality first. The Dark Knight was long but it had enough content to fill that span of time. Every minute was utilized fully for the plot or for characterization. TF07? Not so much, barely in fact.

Save the long stuff for an extended edition of the film on DVD. At least then you can pause it and go for a drink or a piss or make a sandwich and come back without having missed anything. Sitting through long films in a cinema makes the experience less enjoyable in the end, especially when it's long simply because of pointless filler stuff that really should've been nixed in the edit.
Railguard
I hope it is longer, the first one almost seemed rushed. The fight scenes weren't long enough, you don't get to see Prime and Megs duke it out, they kept cutting to Shia. I hope they pay more attention to detail in this movie.
Bottom Out
lotr is way too long, i still havent been able to watch them in one sitting, i actually walked out of the theater twice on the first one – during the same showing
Nerdicon
But sometimes longer can be better. Look at the Lord of the Rings DVD's the extended cuts are way better

Yeah..oh gawd i got so frazelled with the 3rd one i skipped it alltogether after just an hour in……. YAWN!

Longer would not be bad if it's for things like story, longer fights, or character development.
If it's stuff that feels like filler, characters that aren't adding anything, or that way too much set up for a joke then blah.

Both Pirate movies (2,3) drove me nuts in this regard as well.
Bottom Out
the first movie was better than pretty much all of g1 including the movie combined so…
anyways, the dark knight should have been longer, they didnt get a chance to develop two face
Kimmer
they can't really do any worse……or can they?
[Wing_Saber-X]
Hey, im all up for more screen-time and imho, 2.5 hrs should jsut about be right.
Velcrohead
If the movie was an entire day long, I'd stay for it.
Hell, I watch Jack Bauer for 24 hours, why not Optimus Prime?
Ravenxl7
Sounds good to me. A longer overall movie has potential for even more bot action than I was already expecting. It could end up being too long, and thus dull, but I have faith in the people making the movie to make it enjoyable to watch at the very least.
Soundwave784
For me, i was like "I thought this was a Transformers movie?" then at the end of the movie, autobots were fighting decepticons and then i finnaly felt i was in the right theater
Mastodon
I hope we get more masturbation jokes!

if this movie is longer than the first this will be enough to make any fan (including me self) happy.
it makes sense in a way considering more robots+dialogue+battles+explosions+babes+showing off cars+starscream galore+constructicons+soundwave.. am i missing anything?
