A selection of new images of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave have appeared today. First, 2005 Boards member S250 shared a nice sharp close up image of Soundwave’s face with us. Next, we have a mini-gallery of Soundwave on ACtoys.net posted by Comus of TF08.net; these images show Soundwave transformed into what could be his satellite mode. Last but not least, Benzo linked us to a picture by Dave’s Toylet, which shows a size comparison between the new Movie Soundwave, and the classic Generation 1 Soundwave. This new image seems to suggest that Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave is going to be a Deluxe class toy (in line with speculation that this might in fact be a Revenge of the Fallen “movie preview” toy in the style of the Protoform Optimus Prime and Starscream from the 2007 Movie line).

Ironhide546
It's just a cheapie Cybertronian mode guys.
Remember when we came our pants for Ironhide, Voyager Prime, and the Leader toys? Yeah? Camaro Bumblebee?

I'm aware of the history of the toy line. I understand they have to change to look of the design to make it work on the big screen. All I'm staying the design could been done in a better way. The movie line i can't even tell if the toys have eyes or not. They look like some thing that came out of the Alien the movie in 1979.
WWMEGATRON
AWESOME !!!!! Imagen him once he is in the screen !!
shroobmaster
… Hey that's not bad! The best mode so far IMO.
roy_flagg00
WOW!!!!!!
This toy is awesome!!!!!
Bayformers ROK!
Seriously, I don't blame Bay for this, he is not creating the designs. I Blame America. Why can't we design robots that look cool? I mean, there is nothing wrong with this design, but their is nothing great about it either. Just another meh milktoast design. For me, the perfect example of what the movie asthetic should have been is Wreckage from the first movie line of toys. That is one of my fav designs of all time. Why can't they have gone in this direction for the in movie characters? This piece of garbage is one step up from ol' paperclip bot Megatron.
I don't want the characters to look like g1, believe me. I happen to like beastwars/machines myself. But I am not buying that this is the best that they can do. I mean jesus christ!!!! Armored Core anyone? These guys designing probably prefer Mechwarrior over Armored Core, which is also a hot steaming pile of garbage. If you like this design, there is nothing wrong with you, you are entitled to your opinion. But you are being dishonest if you cannot agree that the designs are heavily inspired by incects. If you like the incecty look, more power to you. For me, the only transformers that should look like incects are the incecticons.

…As opposed to Hasbro slapping Autobot and Decepticon labels on older Diaclone, Microman, and Bandai toys and calling them Transformers to make a quick buck?
Let's be fair here. G1 Soundwave basically transforms into a box. It's a box with certain surface details added onto to it, but when you get right down to it, it's a box. Of COURSE there's no kibble on him and he looks monolithic. He's a BOX.
As for looking like anything. To early to tell. If he looks like something in the movie, he hopefully looks like that. Everyone's more or less just taking wild guesses to his vehicle mode at this point.
Sso02V
wait, are you talking about the movie or G1?

OmegaVPrime
Well you can't honestly know until we see his actual movie version, for now, this toy looks pretty awesome

Umm, i suppose its meant to be some sort of "entry-mode" vehical/ pod mode. As everyone else was suggesting, its probally most likely 100% Prequel-movie mode Sundwave, ala Protoform Prime and Screamer. For all we know, he wont be turning up in the movie, or just a glimps of him entering the earth's atmosphere. There.
This~!

I hate toys with no real alt mode, this toy doesn't look like it transforms into anything.
S_Windell
I just had a flashback to 1984 when one of my friends got Megatron for his birthday.
phreakybot
yeah, awesome… he was a friggin utility pole!
Malikon
yeah but every pic I've seen of him he looks different. I'm not sure we've even seen him properly transformed yet.
jmandawg
LOL, i totally agree. The true soundwave is a cybertronian streetlight, and he should be a streetlight for the movie!!
Bottom Out
i think you're looking way to into soundwaves g1 design, all this monolithic presence, size, personality stuff was all created by the huge fanbase soundwave had after the fact. Its not like soundwave was intended to represent these things, its just how it happened and the fanbase ran with it
PirateCop
looks like depth charge

I really hate to be a hater, but the G1 just looks so much better. I'm not saying the G1 design would work for the movie, but it's a bold, iconic design classic. The movie version just isn't. It's a more fluid agile design, but Soundwave really doesn't need that. He's the one character that doesn't need to be jumping and diving around. That's part of the reason the G1 design was so effective for his persona. It has a certain monolithic quality about it. It also has zero kibble.
Where the G1 looks classy, Preview Soundwave just looks cheap. And that alt mode, even for a cybertronian mode, it's pretty blah. Doesn't even look remotely like anything.
That said, it does look better than the first movie's preview figures, and they did grow on me eventually.
