According to a press release received by Ain’t It Cool News, the Transformers sequel Revenge of the Fallen will have key action sequences shot with IMAX cameras, as was done previously with The Dark Knight, released earlier this year.
The IMAX scenes will be integrated with sequences shot on regular 35mm film for regular theaters. The movie will simultaneously be released at IMAX theaters, with the 35mm scenes upgraded with IMAX’s digital re-mastering process. Either way you view the sequel, it should be an exciting experience!

This is quite possibley the best news I've herd on ROTF. Actually, "strike that, reverse it" it is probabley going to be the best news for the film until it comes out really…
Blackout
Railguard
I can't wait to see that!!!
Blackout
Imagine seeing Devastator transform and tear shit up on Imax.
Damn….
DeathsHead
The IMAX scenes will be present in standard screenings, but down-scaled to 35mm as with Batman.
DeathsHead
None of the above were actually filmed using IMAX technology. If they had IMAX screenings it was either a straight forward 35mm print on a big screen or the result of using the patented IMAX 'blow-up' technique to enlarge the original negative. AFAIK The Dark Knight was the first 'proper' feature to shoot IMAX. The difference between this and the re-mastered films is enormous.
Dropshot
So this Imax scenes will be projected at normal theaters too or just at Imax?
I was getting a Spidey 3 vibe too for the movie, but everyone in the production said that this is going to be at a must faster rate, since we already know about TFs being on earth, and there's no mistery around them.

TRUST ME…. IT'S WORTH IT. Los Angeles County has 4 IMAX's
EmptyArmor
I was thinking the same thing, but on the bright side this movie doesn't (or shouldn't) have too many subplots going.
Transformers 2=
1.Autobots vs Decepticons (Maybe the Fallen joining in)
2.Sam with college trouble
3. Military getting in the way of Transformers
Spiderman 3=
1.Black Costume
2.Tension with Harry
3.Tension with MJ
4.Tension with Eddie
4.Spiderman vs Sandman
5.Spiderman vs Venom
6.Spiderman vs GG2
Since there's not too many individual antagonists in TF2 if a story is present, it should flow a smoother than Spiderman 3…..I hope
Poho
this reinforces my belief that this film is going to be "too much". honestly with what information we have, i'm really getting a Spiderman 3 vibe. and Spiderman 3 sucked.
darthrage
That is absolutely correct. Not a lot of people are aware of this because actually alot of movies are presented in IMAX but the black bars are still at the top and bottom. The screen is of course much larger but there are not that many films that were actually filmed using IMAX cameras.
The only one that comes to mind is Dark Knight. And that was awesome!
It mentions that Michael Bay WILL BEE shooting at least 3 action scenes in IMAX, does that mean he hasn't done it already? Because there's roughly 2 weeks of filming left.
I've seen the following movies in IMAX. Does anyone remember if any of the ones listed below were actually filmed in IMAX so that it takes up the entire screen?
Matrix Revolutions
Star Wars Episode 2: AOTC
300
Spider-Man 2
Transformers
I Am Legend
Beowulf
Ironhide546
Shakey cam was fine in the first film. It was the framing of the robots/ILM's motion blur that sucked.
Also even though it was on a regular screen the IMAX scenes of the Dark Knight still gave me vertigo lol

I guess I can be considered lucky. I live about a hundred kilometers from Ottawa, where there is an IMAX theater there at one of the museums.
fastballspecial
coooooooooool.
shibamura_prime
Oh, sweet!
Even though they didn't add anything really of consequence in the first IMAX release, it was a blast watching it on that screen. I can only imagine how exciting it'll be to see it when it's partially shot FOR that screen.
cleftasunder
Sure TDK was spectacular in IMAX but it also had a complex plot and characters which TF lacked.
I'm hoping that TF2 isn't as dumbed down.

I cannot WAIT for this. Dark Knight was Spectacular.

You said it. Mind you, knowing Mr Bay he'll find some way to go all spazzy hand-held even with a giant IMAX rig…

I hope it looks as nice as Dark Knight did I loved that movie!

I think the best part of this is that micheal bay will be forced to not have so much of his shakey cam that he loves so much.
