The developers were kind enough to address some of the concerns buzzing around the internet after the big reveal. Update: PlatinumGames revealed a teaser for Transformers: Devastation moments ago.

What was mentioned during the interview following the teaser:

  • Inspiration for the game came primarily from the G1 cartoon but ideas from IDW Comics and other media were taken in as well.
  • Develeopment team from Bayonetta and Legend Of Korra video games were involved in making Transformers: Devastation (which certainly explains the familiar style from both games).

Transformers-Devastation-Revealed-3

Best Buy Canada have put up preorders for the new Transformers video game, Transformers Devastation, which we first learned about earlier today. From these listings, we can confirm that:

  • The game will be released on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4 and Playstation 3
  • Five Autobots are confirmed to be playable – Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Wheeljack, Sideswipe, and Grimlock
  • The original voice cast will be reprising their roles, including Peter Cullen, Frank Welker and Dan Gilvezan
  • The game will feature five difficulty levels to provide an appropriate challenge to all fans
  • The plot involves Megatron harnessing Plasma Energy in an attempt to cyberform the Earth
  • The game is being developed by notable studio Platinum Games. It is reported that they will be bringing their signature fast action to the game, for instant robot to vehicle attacks, slam downs, counterattacks, and infinite combos

It is also reported that Transformers Devastation is coming on October 6th, 2015 – so not too long to go before we get to experience this game!

There’s also a few more new images attached to the listings – one of which shows a purple Ramjet, so it looks like the Decepticon Air Warriors are also in as enemies to fight.

Prepare for devastation!

It seems we have a new Transformers video game to look forward to. Gaming site Pure Xbox has leaked some images and information of what is coming to us next from Activision.

Transformers Devastation, as it is known, is a cel-shaded brawler with a very slick artstyle recalling the look of the original Generation 1 cartoon. From the images we can see the Autobots in the game include Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Sideswipe, with Optimus and Bumblebee looking like they may be playable characters. Decepticons shown include Megatron and Devastator, the latter of whom absolutely towers over Optimus. Generic Decepticons armed with swords are also shown in droves, and they seem to resemble the Generation 1 Decepticon Runamuck. There is evidence of combat involving both guns and also close-range melee weapons, such as a pair of swords on Sideswipe and Optimus using his energy axe.

Further details are unknown, but Pure Xbox reports this game is heading to Xbox 360 for certain. We’d imagine that Activision will not ignore the current generation, or the Playstation, so we’d imagine that Xbox One, Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 versions must also be on the cards.

Allegedly, this game will be officially unveiled at E3, so we hope to see more then. For now, check out the images which we have mirrored here for your viewing pleasure.

Is this finally the Generation 1 cartoon inspired game we’ve all been dreaming of?
