Hasbro Inc. and Paramount Pictures both confirmed their presence at this year’s Licensing Expo with Hasbro confirming products and marketing material from our beloved Transformers franchise.
Strangely, Paramount Pictures does not list Transformers among the list of items they will be showcasing on the show floor. However, with a summer tent-pole movie coming in, we may very well see some push from Paramount.
Hasbro states the following to the press:
“Hasbro is committed to Creating the World’s Best Play Experiences. From toys and games, television programming, motion pictures, digital gaming and consumer product licensing, Hasbro fulfills the need for play with families around the world. Hasbro Studios and ALLSPARK PICTURES create entertainment brand-driven storytelling.”
My Little Pony, Transformers, Monopoly, Littlest Pet Shop, Nerf, Play-Doh, Magic the Gathering
- Paramount Pictures Booth: U188
- Hasbro Booth: South Seas FIJ
Licensing Expo 2017 will be held at Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Las Vegas from May 23rd to May 25th.
Hot on the heels of The Bumblebee Movie logo trademark, Hasbro has applied for another brand new Transformers related Trademark at the United States Patent And Trademark Office.
What’s interesting is the fact that the trademark description is very descriptive unlike previous Transformers trademarks.
- Trademark ID: 87443682
- Trademark Date: 05/15/2017
- Owner: Hasbro Inc.
- Trademark Description: Toy robots; buildable toy robots; toy action figures, toy vehicles and toy robots convertible into other visual forms
The trademark is obviously a wordplay of the names Cyber + Electronics or Cyberton + Electronics.
We currently do not know for what purpose this new trademark will be used but there may very well be electronics involved along with a construct-able functionality similar to what Lego has to offer with their Technics line.

Care of SwiftEagle at the Allspark, we have word of a potential variant tooling for Robots in Disguise Soundwave. You see, the existing Soundwave toy has a faceplate on the packaging, but the toy’s head lacks a faceplate, instead giving Soundwave a head that evokes his Transformers Prime incarnation. However, SwiftEagle’s variant does indeed sport the faceplate!
From what we know, the faceplate is not painted, and on SwiftEagle’s sample the translucent plastic for the eyes is set back, due to it not accommodating the extra plastic at the front for the faceplate. This suggests that there exists an alternate, faceplated tooling, but it was not intended to be used on this version of the mold (owing to the lack of paint apps and the “eyes” piece not fitting flush). However, the counter to this is the packaging artwork, which has always shown the faceplate.
Which one will it be? Time will tell, but in the meantime, you may share your informed opinions via the discuss link below.
Via Toysrus.co.uk we have new stock photos for Transformers: Robots in Disguise Combiner Force – Team Combiner Ultra Bee.
As we saw in Toyfare, it’s a 4-pack with Bumblebee, Strongarm, Sideswipe and Grimlock figures, and we could consider Drift since he is a sword (as seen in the cartoon) but it’s just a non-transformable weapon for the combined form. We have pictures of packaging and all the figures in the set. It’s listed for £34.99 (45 dollars aproximately).
UPDATE: Galvatronus stock photos were also available on the site, same price.
You can check the pictures after the jump and share your thoughts at the 2005 Boards!
Couple of months back, we reported that Hasbro owned Boulder Media Studio, an Ireland based animation company is working on a Transformers franchise related animated series.
We’ve just learned that a week ago, something has flown under our radar. The studio in question is hiring candidates to work on the aforementioned project.
The openings are for Transformers Character Designers (2D), Concept Designers, Prop Designers (2D) and Background Artists (2D).
You can look at the job openings via the official website but some of the highlights include:
- It’s a 2D Animation Project (characters and props are 2D and so is the background)
- Based on ToonBoom Harmony
- Sci-fi Vehicles and Weaponry are involved.
Although we do not have a clear idea as to what Boulder Media has planned, but all of the above criteria ticks a certain Transformers show that is on hiatus at the moment. And that show is Transformers: Rescue Bots. However, things are up in the air. It could be a new show, it could be a return of an old show or it could be a follow-up. Fire away your thoughts, on the thread associated with this news post.
Only yesterday we were reporting on in package images of these new Robots in Disguise One Step Changers, Heatseeker and Strongarm (2017 version). Today, we can report they’re already out at US retail! Once again it is OCProwl with the spot, this time in a Target in Huntington Beach, California.
