The Transformers Collectors Club have been posting on Twitter, suggesting that the upcoming Collectors Club subscription figures Nacelle and Generation 2 Starscream will be the final two times that they make use of the mold:

From 2007-2015, we have provided 10 of the 31 versions of this now truly “classic” mold. Nacelle and G2 Starscream seem a fitting end.

When TFSS 3.0 G2 Starscream ships, that may well be the final use of this mold. We have no future plans to use the Classics mold again.

You’ll note that, like when this was originally mooted at Botcon 2014 in California, there’s a certain level of “not completely ruling it out” in the statements, but as it stands, it seems like with the 30th and 31st releases of the mold in the form of Nacelle and Generation 2 Starscream, the Collector’s Club is retiring the use of the mold. Hat tip to TFW2005 member almightymaximus for letting us know about the Angry Birds Transformers Jenga Galvatron, Lockdown, Soundwave and Heatwave being spotted at a Walmart in Connecticut. This is our first reported sighting of the toys, which is sort of a crossover of a crossover combining the game Jenga, Angry Birds, and of course Transformers.

Check them out after the jump. [Read more…]

Courtesy from a TakaraTomy ad from the most recent Dengeki Hobby Magazine, we have confirmation of a crossover event between Transformers and Evangelion. The ad first seen here on Twitter and reported by AnimeNewsNetwork reveals Optimus Prime (drawn similarly to his MP-10 silhouette) with nods and symbols from Evangelion, including a NERV symbol on his shoulder. Does this mean a potential toy release with this deco? No details are available at this time unfortunately.

For those fans not familiar with the Evangelion series, Evangelion is an apocalyptic anime in the mecha genre first airing in the mid 1990’s, which became very popular in Japan. The series is set in a futuristic Tokyo, fifteen years after a worldwide cataclysm (see more info here). AnimeNewsNetwork also translated a summary of the cross over explaining more details:

The Angels are invading. Breaking a long silence, the mysterious life-forms known as the Angels suddenly appear. The weapons the UN forces gather together in retaliation can’t even scratch them. In the end, they turn to the secret agency, NERV, to manage the anti-Angel strategy.

With Neo-Tokyo 3 in their sights, the Angels slowly advance upon the city…but suddenly a spaceship comes hurtling down from the sky above the Angels: the Sky Lynx! Out of the ship emerges warriors of the far-off planet Cybertron. They’ve come to investigate after noticing an unusual energy reading.

“We can’t let a disaster like the Second Impact occur on this planet.”
“What?! What are these monsters?!”

The shocked Cybertron convoy sets its sights on an enemy much bigger than themselves.

iitoy857 Redecos, Assemble!

While the spirit of Marvel Crossovers has apparently carried on into Top Spin and Twin Twist-style toys in The Avengers line-up, it appears the bigger toys aren’t quite dead yet. Thanks to three eBay listings, we now know the line will be returning (at least momentarily) as the Transformers: Mech Machines subline for The Avengers toyline. It is unknown what the distribution, release date, or price for these new releases at this time. [Read more…]

20eef2f0 I sense a disturbance in the Force…

That’s right, the Class III Star Wars Transformers Darth Vader has hit US retail. This $40 giant toy has four modes – Anakin Skywalker, who turns into a Republic Attack Cruiser. But Anakin falls to the Dark Side, and the toy becomes Darth Vader, who turns into an Imperial Star Destroyer. It’s effectively two different toys in one!

The Force was definitely strong with ViceGripX, who found this toy at the Toys R Us in Tacoma, WA. [Read more…]
