Via sources like bloomberg.com, cnbc.com and reuters.com we can inform that it seems that Mattel Refused Hasbro’s Latest Acquisition Approach.
We had informed previously that Hasbro was in merger talks with Mattel which would result in that could have created the largest U.S. toymaker. Once again undisclosed sources report that this merge won’t happen anytime soon. Mattel would have refused the proposal due to a low offer from Hasbro.
“Mattel Inc. slipped in late trading on a report that it rebuffed a takeover approach from rival Hasbro Inc., spurning a deal that could have created the largest U.S. toymaker. Mattel informed Hasbro that the proposal undervalues the company, according to Reuters, which cited unidentified people familiar with the situation. Mattel also had concerns about the transaction being challenged on antitrust grounds, the news service said”.

Could the reason Hasbro wants Mattel could be that Hasbro realized they don't as many characters as Marvel and DC to use for the Hasbro Cinematic Universe. Could that be the reason why they are going to buys all of Power Rangers in the near future?
Dragonclaw
Mattel no longer has Shogun Warriors. The individual characters are owned by their respective companies and the name is (or was, if they've now abandoned it) owned by Toynami…who showed some in-house designs but managed to only offer Godzilla and Futurama's Bender under the line.

…i think licensing for all the sundry shogun warriors toy designs is a bit of a rightsholder minefield; mattel may hold the trademark but that doesn’t make the original toys fair game for reissue…

So the possible reason Mattel said no to Hasbro might have to do with the upcoming live-action Barbie movie starring Anne Hathaway as Barbie that's coming out August 8, 2018.

Does Mattel still have Shogun Warriors?
Starfire22
DC would be awesome to see in a (better) Legends format. Not like Icons.

Computer Warriors could come back if Hasbro buys Mattel.
Darth Gonzo
Maybe.
Sideswipe523
Along with new updated wheeled warriors, lol

From what I can find on Mattel, they might have to sale to Hasbro, that is only if they keep losing money the way they are.

The slot-car truck of US-1 got a Marvel comics series in the 80's.
Diamondback
US-1 like the slot-car highway system made to work with HO scale model trains? I wish they'd bring that back and modernize it… had a bunch of it as a kid, and more than once Mom had to talk me out of trying to repaint one of the cab-overs to match Optimus Prime.
Better yet, since my model railroading is mainly keyed on the 1930s to 1950s, have both "Now" and "Then" lines… the old stuff can crossover as "collector vehicles" like how once in a while you still see 50s and 60s cars ont the road today.

Hasbro: And we want He-Man, US-1, Street Sharks, Barbie, Hot Wheels, & Rescue Heroes in our shared universe for our comics and movies.

And I acknowledged that fact, but because we're in a Transformers-centric part of the forums, that's where I was coming from initially. It wasn't helped that your arguments parallel many of the specific comments made specifically about Transformers in the last ~5 years. So again, we got off on the wrong foot, carrying on a conversation where we were both coming at it from two slightly disjointed viewpoints. Moving on.
Coming from the low point of the Fall of Cybertron lineup? Hell yes there's been improvements. Not as great as things were back around Animated/Revenge of the Fallen/Universe, but they're finding a more solid middle ground between those points. Triggerhappy, Top Spin, and Twin Twist could stand toe-to-toe with anything from those "halcyon days".
I'm not denying that competition is a factor, but you go the opposite direction and chalk everything bad up to competition, when there's been all manner of internal shake-ups within the industry that fully account for the complaints you're making.

Hasbro: "Mattel, we want to buy you."
Mattel: "Why?"
Hasbro: "Coz you're DC Multiverse is inconsistent & T-Crotch hips is very dated & sucks."
lolz

I disagree, Mattel probably know Hasbro will pull on them the same thing they did to Kenner and eventually fire all the Mattel workers.
But this discussion is beyond transformers only and so it's logical to talk about it's consequences to the toy market.
Transfromers generations marked an improvements?! Lol! They keep getting more hollow, less painted and more stickers. Hasbro "collector-oriented lines" are a joke, they're overpriced playine toys with a bit more articulation then usual that's all.
Keep on trying to make competition light factor, when in reailty it's one of the most important factors in economy and we see it's effect on the toy market. You should check Retroblasting, they talk about that as well.

See you next year!!!!

Such a bummer this fell through. I guess I will have continue to live with Mattel doing DC figures still. I was imagining there being DC Legends also. Oh well.
Spontificus
Glad that the merger talks fell through. I feel like we dodged a bullet with that one.
