The line of toys was called New Microman. They had various sub-groups within the line, but Micro Change was not a separate line of toys.

Cue Russian Accent: microMAN…microCHANGE…ALL MADE IN VIETNAM!!! (or China, or Taiwan, or Macau, or Japan, or something or France if you're hip to the whole Joustra thing).

I know, you got the image from
The very TFwiki page I linked. But it was still called Micro Change.

Micro Change was not a spin off, but a sub-category of the Microman line:
Microchange was not a separate line of toys. It'd be like saying the Headmasters or the Pretenders were a separate line of toys from the Transformers. They were all part of the same line of toys.

Has there ever been any indication that the 85 Minibots (Cosmos, Powerglide, Warpath, Beachcomber & Seaspray) originated somewhere else? They seem odd to be the only original toys in the first two years.
Purple Heart
Nope. Go and read my posts.
Mirco Change was a spin-off line of Microman released in the eary 80’s. It is from that line, not Microman itself, that all those molds are taken from.

Getting close.
The G1 Transformers were almost all from either Diaclone or Microman toys from 1983ish. There are exceptions like Shockwave and Jetfire, which came from different lines entirely.

When these show up on Brickseek or Walmart.com, do you think it’ll be front paged?
Purple Heart
Maybe thats it.

Presumably from the old misconception that stemmed from the copyright markings of those toys, because back in the day, copyright markings in Japan identified the launch of the series in general, not the creation of that particular figure. So basically, a toy designed in 1982 and released in 1983 as part of a toyline that started back in 1970 would have a "1970" copyright.
Purple Heart
Yep, those molds were released in 1983 as part of the Micro Change line, a subsidiary line of the New Microman line. Don’t know where I got the 70’s from. Maybe I was confusing it because Microman had been around since the late 70’s.

All of this is factually false.

All of the original Transformers figures from 84-85 were molds borrowed from Takara’s Diaclone and Micro Change toylines. Hasbro more or less just struck a deal with Takara to bring the toys over, practically unchanged, as Transformers. For most of them, the only change was the inclusion of faction insignias/rubsigns, and a new box.

That’s not how things worked back then. They would have wanted to sell a $3 tank and jet for the sake of variety than to have “realistic” comparative scales for vehicle modes. Besides, the Autobot cars were their own sub-group and only featured cars from Diaclone.

Powerglide was an A-10. Hound was a military Jeep.

Warpath and powerglide should of been made larger size in the original toy line. Powerglide should of been seeker sized and warpath should of been Blitzwing size. If Hasbro could of made powerglide (would be out of original g1 scale) Cobra Rattler size, they could if sold thousands of repainted cobra ratter repainted of powerglide when given joe vs TV comics came out.

It would be very strange to just have 2.
We could also see 2 more of the recently reissued mini-bots: Pipes, Cosmos, Huffer, and Powerglide.
I need all 4 of those for my collection, so I'd be stocked on any.

Seems weird to release just 2 minibots after the poor distribution of the first wave of 4. Do you think we'll see 2 of the previous releases restocked with these guys? Or maybe another go with the whole assortment in a case?
Fingers crossed as I never came across a Bumblebee locally and he was the only one I was interested in…

I've been a little choosy with my G1 reissues but I don't think I'd say no to Gears, I love that guy! Aside from my obvious Minibot need (and I'm not deluding myself, I sincerely doubt they'll do a Hubcap or Cliffjumper in this line) the only one I really want them to do next is Huffer – I never actually owned his G1 toy so him I'd happily buy two of so I can play with one and display the other in the box.

Awesome. Cannot wait to pick these up.
Warpath is definitely the most non-sensical Autobot. His design with the giant cannon in his chest in robot mode is weird. He's the only Autobot that turns into a machine of war.. Well besides the aerialbots. Also a mini tank makes no sense. Tanks are big.
