Movie producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura spoke to China.org regarding the future of the Transformers Live Action Movie Franchise.
He outlined that the previously mentioned animated Transformers movie is in its writing stage while Bumblebee 2, Optimus Prime and a major Transformers movie are all under consideration with a potential for a future Beast Wars movie.
However, the producer stressed out the fact that all of the above (including the animated movie) will only happen if the latest Bumblebee movie is a financial success.
“We probably will make a ‘Bumblebee’ sequel, and we want to make another even bigger Transformers movie in the future,” Lorenzo di Bonaventura told China.org.cn, after being the producer of every Transformers movie in the past decade.
“We have an animated movie in the writing stage right now. We are trying to figure out an Optimus Prime movie, while the Beast Wars franchise has the chance, too.”
However, the producer stressed this could only happen under one condition: “Bumblebee” must be a success.

Well, I've done my bit and went and saw it.
Curious to note that not even a month after it was released here, the cinema only has two showing a day.
Shin Densetsu
Lorenzo reminds me of Rambo from First Blood while the majority of the audience and Allspark Productions is Col. Troutman:
"It's over Johnny, it's OVER!"
"NO. NOTHING IS OVER, YOU JUST DON'T TURN IT OFF!"

I'm impressed Lorenzo knows what Beast Wars is. Bravo for doing his research.

Because he and Bay, via their companies according to Bees credits hold the Lions share.
And because the entire Bayverse is his own pet project/vision.
He has been doing his job admirably, playing and dancing as you say, to create hype around his investement with minimal cost. The fact that people cant put 1+1 together and believed and continue to believe that this movie is not a prequel and its different to the Bayverse, its not his fault. Heck half of the posts in here are "He doesnt know what he talks about".
Sure…the guy who is running the show for ten years straight and puts his money on the table doesnt know….

Hypocrisy is when you change an existing franchise drastically for ten years and then get frustrated that people want a return to form.
Again I and many more just want one good Bay / Lorenzo free movie, then you guys can return to crapping the bed.
Autobot Burnout
It's funny how the more fervent film defenders constantly accuse critics of not being open to reinterpretation of the brand…and yet when you turn the argument around and suggest the films themselves have somebody else take a whole new crack at them, it's like you've punched somebody's mother in the face with how much they lash out.
Change is only good to them so long as it sticks within their extremely narrow range of preferences. Hypocrisy at its finest.

The bayverse insulted the memory of G1. Bay-Lorenzo took pieces of the mythology as they pleased and rewrote the rules of the fiction as they wished.
We would like a movie completely free of Bay's influence. Why do Bay and Lorenzo get to redefine Transformers for all of us?
No I say!
Let me have one good Travis movie without reminders of Bay, and I, and many others would very happy.
drbeakman
See? Even when I encourage "using elements of g1 and the Bayverse in harmony, in a new continuity", it's not enough!
The plain and simple fact is a lot people, on both sides, just want "win/lose" situations. It's a totally unhealthy power struggle based on ego defenses and narcissism. A win win situation would simply be wanting what's best for the brand, whether it pleases you personally or not — we had ten years of one thing, naturally, it's time to upgrade and change using the best of what came before in a fresh new start!
Autobot Burnout
I agree.
It feels like some people resent the fact the films are not the end-all, be-all of the franchise even after all this time.

This logic is hilarious. If you like Transformers only when they try their best at being the least like Transformers, then why not just like some other franchise entirely? I can never understand that about some Transformers fans.

This post is hilarious
I hope a BW movie will take more cues from the creativity of TLK than the staleness of Knight's G1 panderfest.
GirlBot
Honestly, I'd be lying if I said that a BW movie is the thing I'm waiting for
Even if the movie won't be successful, the merchandise may be. I'd love to have some new BW toys like the ones in the Generation lines. If it would spawn a limited comic series or a new cartoon that would be awsome, too. There was a lot to BW that didn't get much spotlight in cartoon (for budget reasons probably). I'd love to see the cast expanded to those toy characters or more information on the Maximal/Predacon conflict on Cybertron.
ILoveDinobot
Guess what?
I'm a G1 fan, BW fan, RID2001 fan, Unicron trilogy fan, Animated fan, Prime fan, RID15 fan, Cyberverse fan. Although Beast Wars is my absolutely favorite series, I love all the series. Sorry if I enjoy what I enjoy? I'm not sure why you assume it's an us vs them standpoint for anyone who likes a series you don't. But, if you have been on this forum long enough and still hold this view there is no point in lecturing you.
Shin Densetsu
Your naive assumption that that's what movie Dinobot would look like despite the new direction Knight and Allspark Productions took the Bumblebee movie and associated designs is either borderline ignorant or straight up pessimistic.
Dinobot Snarl
I understand his frustration.
We won't live forever, even though Bee was a good course correction, most G1-ish fans are still hoping we can get a movie with the real Optimus Prime, as seen in Travis Knights rendition with out any connection to the Bayverse, which we see as Michael Bay and Lorenzo's big budget fan-fiction. It's too late to enjoy it in our youth, thanks to Bay and Lorenzo.
Personally I wouldn't be opposed to Beast Wars, I would be kinda sad if we saw Beast Wars done right, while for G1, Bayverse remaining the legacy.
It could easily be done right you just have to get a group of people who love the franchise to make it.
Bay-Lorenzo, came at it hating the original premise, the toys. They sought to distance the franchise as far away from the roots as possible, their original vision was an alien invasion movie, where the transformers were truly monsters. Somewhere along the way they were pushed to making the movie somewhat more like normal Transformers, so what we got were nightmarish renditions of characters we were supposed to be familiar with. I think this was only possible because Hasbro wasn't confident about their IP. I don't think its possible now.
SPLIT LIP
Example? The post you replied to had no ill-will towards G1, and most BW fans are also G1 fans. (did you not notice the G1 Rodimus in her Avatar?)
Seems you've decided for yourself there's some sort of feud between BW and G1, when there absolutely isn't.
ZapRowsdower
No offense… but man… you BW fans are something else… I wouldn't mind your enthusiasm if I felt it wasn't laced with absolute poison toward G1!
Just hearing BW love makes me wonder if it's time to assume my defensive position at ye old G1 Castle!
Your naive enthusiasm is almost breathtaking!
A movie-verse BW would look more like this:
View attachment 28171970
"Why is BW Megatron yellow?"
"Why does he turn into that Robotech mech?"
drbeakman
oh wow, you acknowledged my response!
one can only assume it's going to be yet another human driven story if we're going to continue building on the hollow caricature that was TLK, no? what transformer driven arc of any significance can be built out of that?
i really hope the knightverse can become a thing and we let him build it rather than using his sincere efforts like a tool to prop up a structure which bay himself admits was "a mess". this is such perfect timing to right wrongs, admit mistakes, and start fresh. there are elements from G1 and the bayverse that can be used in harmony, but trying to maintain the continuity as gospel is suicide!
P.S. when are you finally going to tell everyone who you really are?
Autobot Burnout
Unless of course Paramount goes bankrupt because you seem oblivious to the fact they are not out of the hole TLK dug them into.
