I had the iGear vans with MP, but when the official Ironhide and Ratchet MP's came out I moved them to Classics, where they really fit seamlessly with the new more accurate styling we've been getting since thrilling 30. Plus the original Classics Ironhide and Ratchet, even the Henkei versions which I owned, sucked. No painted wheels on Ironhide, and on Ratchet he has really weird color blocking in vehicle mode. They also both have the stupid facing down head. How that mold ever got approved we will never understand.
The iGear versions are some of the best 3rd party figures of all time. Capture the character while taking some liberties. Tons of accessories. LOVE THEM TO DEATH
Seige will not be a replacement, but this figure looks good to me.

No need to apologize I have no special emotional attachment to igear or their products. I haven't messed around with the van bros for years, so I have no idea how they're holding up by today's standards.

Sorry…didn't mean to put down the iGear figures with my cheap flimsy comment, lol. They just have a different feel to them, plus, mine was my first 3P figure ever and I didn't have much to compare him to at the time. MP Ironhide is on the tall skinny side as MP carbots go and really does tower over the others, for better or for worse.
fschuler
He's on the list, Lol. There are still 10, or so, I still want for the collection. I figured I'd start with the most G1-ish first and work out from there.
I'm really looking forward to the Siege figure. And, I swear to God I'm going to figure out how to make a tracked battle sled for him using the weaponizer figures.
Astronut
Thanks. I actually have the Igear van bros and use them in my MP display. I feel like the MP Ironhide is too big? Never really seen reviews or pictures since I was always happy with the igear version.

Huh. Surprised you don’t have this guy. He came out in 1995.

Correct on both counts. The iGear bot is also kind of fiddly and feels a bit on the cheap side. Interestingly, one version of him comes with a spare head that allows you to turn him into Tote.
fschuler
G1 Tote. I got him when I was a kid. I always considered him to be a miniature Ironhide. So, I gave him an honorary spot on the Ironhide shelf.
Astronut
I'm really debating getting all the major characters from this line and displaying them in alt mode. Especially the autobots. Really digging the cybertronian designs.
Is that Igear Ironhide on the left, second from the rear? I didn't realize he was that small compared to the MP. (which I assume is the one on the right furthest back)
Lazerwave
I wonder if Ironhide will be slightly taller than a normal Deluxe, but smaller than a normal Voyager.
Purple Heart
Who is the little Micromaster dude on the bottom left?
fschuler
Hell yes! Even made room for him already:

I didn't really expect to at first, but I'll probably end up getting just about all of wave 2 Siege.
Purple Heart
Hope your as smitten with Ironhide as I am!
SPLIT LIP
Oh shit you're right!

Hasbro doesn't expect anyone to have a collection spanning a decade.
Star Wars, Marvel, TFs have all had restarts in format, scale, design aesthetics. This is just one more jumping on point for new collectors and kids. Treat it as such and enjoy something that does fit in with past iterations of your Generations collection, but also is the start of a brand new three year arching toy line.

For me, I was always gonna dump my Classics/Universe and 2.0 figures as soon as slavish G1 representations came around. It already started in Titans Returns and Siege is just more of that.

You know Ratchet is coming as a Walgreen’s exclusive, right? I’d assume he’ll have a new head, as Wreck-gar did. But yeah, Ratchet is LONG overdue for a mass retail CHUG figure.
SPLIT LIP
Can't wait for that Ironhide to be retooled into Ratchet.
I just hope he has the red head/white crest. Though I'll just paint it if he doesn't.
