Volkswagen has released a new commercial for their 2019 Beetle, featuring our titular hero from Transformers: Bumblebee.
This latest vehicle is the last production Beetle before its discontinuation.
Sadly, the new car doesn’t come in its classic yellow but instead comes in ‘Safari Uni’; a very faint shade of yellow.
You can learn more info via Volkswagen official website.

I like the Camaro; it's just the robot designs I've always disliked. This new movie is notably…better at least.

I love those old Beetles and also own one (1960 convertible).
So I was a little dissapointed when the movie Bumblebee changed in a Camaro (not a ugly car though )
But I love old cars far above modern ones so I had the same feeling about Jazz (Porsche 911 versus that Pontiac) and even more Sideswipe (that Countach is still one of the greatest sportcars ever in my opinion ).
Finally this new movie is coming out with a Bee who DOES transform in his form he should be
Excited to watch it

Board member and customized extradirinare Lobo was in the process of making one and doing a small run, but has since abandoned the project.

I never liked the New Beetle either, I've always found it a bit ugly. I love the latest one though. I was kind of hoping we'd get to see Bumblebee in that form in a movie that takes place in modern day (maybe with a similar body that he has in the new movie). I guess that probably won't happen if it's being discontinued.

Ah, thanks for that. Of course, Google doesn't give the choice of informal vs. formal translation.
On topic, I doubt this is the last we'll see of the Käfer. It'll be back.

That's gramatically correct, but unusually formal. On fan message boards like this one, the more familiar "du" ("dann korrigiere mich bitte") instead of the more formal "Sie" would be the standard.
Now as for the original question, while "Automobil" is a "neutral" noun in German ("das Automobil"), "Autobot" has the same grammatical gender as the German noun "Roboter" ("robot"): Male. So it has to be "Der Autobot". Which would of course completely ruin the pun.

Yeah it's still in the toilet but it's working it's way out.

Dann korrigieren Sie mich bitte, Herr Nevermore.

I just recived a couple of those ice scrapers with a Bumblebee Movie motive on them from a local tire retailer. I don´t know if this is new or if this is even news worthy but I just wanted to share it here.

Not pieces of shit – mine’s been great and a fun car to drive, so that’s probably just from another Beetle hater (I’m baffled at some of the emotional dislike towards Beetles whenever they are mentioned on this forum). There may be different reasons in different regions, but from what I read, that size class of car has become less popular (in the UK and Europe) with the rise in fashion of the SUV. The Beetle and the Scirocco (which has also been discontinued) were basically just the Golf with different shells, and as the Golf is by far the most popular, VW decided to pare the line down and just keep that. No doubt the massive costs of the diesel scandal has played a part too. But love it or hate it, so many cars these days seem generic and lack character that it’s a shame to see such an icon go (even if I’m sure it will one day return).

A couple days ago I was watching a bunch of videos about GM & the collapse of the car industry. Shits too expensive, people aren't buying new cars, the economy is in the toilet despite what Trump says & people are buying used cars & learning to fix them themselves. Ford is no longer making cars, only trucks from now on. And the American cars are too expensive & the quality is getting worse & worse. I don't know for sure, that's just what I've heard. One guy was saying the new Beetles are pieces of shit so that's why they're discontinuing production.

Still wish *someone* would have made this… Wasn't a 3rd Party teasing a design similar to this years back, but it never happened?
That said… they could have also made an exclusive "2019" Beetle transformer out of one of the various Bugs… Hey, Blue Glyph with the 2019 Beetle design would be sweet.

I posted this in another thread but it works here too.

Even though my Alternator/Binaltech collection is in storage, and I've sort of moved on, I would still buy this, and I predict it would still sell. Might even be a whole line worth relaunching somewhere down the road. So much better than Alternity BB in the giant underpants.

Bay had his own reasons, but the "war toy" thing is not fan speculation, well, according to TFWiki at least. Though, Porsche, who also had a distaste for allowing their brand to be represented in Transformers, had a more clear-cut answer: "Transformers are not worthy of carrying the Porsche trademark. They are war machines and the toyline in no way represents the lifestyle and ideas which Porsche represents."

I always hated the VW Beetle and all its incarnations. Good riddance!!
