Speaking to the gathered fans and the journalists following a fan screening of his movie; Transformers: Bumblebee, director Travis Knight stated that he will be returning to Laika Studios to continue working on their future projects.
“After Bumblebee, my goal is to return to work at the animation studios Laika; my ‘child’, bringing with me all the baggage of experiences I have gained with this project.”
Mr. Knight also debunked the rumors surrounding his involvement with Guardians Of The Galaxy 3:
“I’m a huge fan of what Marvel did; it’s no surprise for anyone to know that as a child I was a huge fan of comics. But no, it’s just a rumor!”
At the moment, Mr. Knight has no plans for a future Transformers movie. However, some info which TFW2005 received from Paramount side states that he will at least stay as a Creative Consultant for upcoming movies; a position currently held by Michael Bay.
We have also heard that Paramount is looking for a director for Transformers: Optimus Prime. A notable name is in discussion but is unable to commit at the moment due to other priorities. We may hear the info on an official capacity very soon.
Critics and fans are thrilled with the work Mr. Knight has done for the new movie and are actually looking forward to see more. Transformers: Bumblebee is his first live action movie directorial debut. His prior work was limited to stop-motion animation including the critically acclaimed Kubo and the Two Strings.

As long as the new director keep the G1 style designs and maintain the Bumblrbee level of story telling I will be very happy

… or the Knight of Cybertron

I'm not familiar enough with them to know if they'd want to do it, or even if they'd do a good job. So hire away, I say!

You pose a solid point. No complaints for McQueen or Gondry?

James Gunn’s not doing anything right now, eh….

Dude it's a just a movie centering around a child friendly character who's always been the poster boy of the franchise since day one. You're pretty much are a contrarian at its finest. Nobody cares about you bitching the movies, you're just a somebody who's crying out for attention like you're the little boy who cried wolf. Just grow up, support the movie and then you'll have to write yourself an apology letter to Paramount, Michael Bay, Travis Knight and pretty much the entire Transformers fandom.

You want the anti-corpratist, anti-capitalist, avowed socialist to make a movie promoting the interests of a multi-billion dollar corporation designed to sell plastic crap to children? In what universe does that make sense? Riley would probably slit his own wrists before agreeing to something like that.

Travis Knight should at least be the kevin feige of the rebooted Transformers live-action franchise. i was hoping he'd still be the director of at least 2 more sequels.

At the risk of sounding rude, this entire comment is pretty much proof that most G1 fans will never be happy. You want straight up G1? Go watch the cartoon series and the movie. Expecting everything, more specifically the live action films, to be straight up G1 at this point is kind of foolish. Make no mistake. I’m not saying G1 shouldn’t be present or ever used again. There should be elements of it. But given that this franchise is 35 years old and the robots have gone through different redesigns and iterations, there is more to this franchise than just G1. I’m being sincere when I say that I’m sorry you got burned by the overmarketing of the Cybertron scenes. However, it shouldn’t be a surprise. It was pretty obvious that those scenes were only going to make up a very minuscule portion of this film.

The movie has not been deemed a success yet.

"run this by Bay. if he likes it, cut it out of the movie."

Get Seth MacFarlane to direct Optimus Prime thanks to Ted & the Orville.

The fact that Bay was “creative consultant” on ANYTHING baysplosions me away.
