Weibo user Notrab, who has been a reliable source for reveals over the time, has uploaded our first images of the rumored Official China Exclusive Masterpiece MP-09 Rodimus Convoy (Rodimus Prime) Reissue.
There were rumors about this reissue some months ago, but we hadn’t seen any proper listing at main online retailers or images until today. According to Notrab’s Weibo post this reissue will be limited only to Chinese market and it’s expected for release in early December.
The box looks almost the same as the original release, but with a “Long Life Design” logo in the lower right corner. We also have images in both modes. So far, this reissue looks identical as the original MP-09 toy.
While this is good news for collectors looking for this Masterpiece, there’s a question many fans would be asking now. Would this reissue have any improvements or fixes on the infamous QC problems of the original release? We still have no official confirmation about this matter, and we are yet to wait for listings outside Chinese online retailers. Be sure to stay tuned to TFW2005 for more information once it’s available. Now, you can check all the mirrored images after the jump, and then sound off on the 2005 Boards!

the self-seriousness of some ppl on these boards is mind-boggling lol

@ people just need a hug, kisses and the dopamine rush of hit, run and hide!
Anyway, it took like almost 6 mos before I figured out that thing on the backpack and how a millimeter off caused this staying flushed issue.

Some do, some say "do not @ me"

We grow up and mature right?

Cough..sure…cough… As long as you don't look at my earlier posts on this topic…

Thank Primus for a member like you who can discuss even an older mold objectively.
Sure I emoted owing to a what could have been perfect, heck, Takara fixed this for China. Means there must have been a demand for this mold.
I have an option to get the Good Life Design but opted to get this V2 first to get to know MP09 even better. Its been like more than 6 mos now( hope not jinxing it)
Old tech compared to like we are at 55 now, quite ambitious as you mentioned. Implementation was the stinker.

I could be wrong, but I think the exploding knees are mostly limited to the black version. This because they're painted and they also painted the joint. As a result, the joint is too tight. That said, I sold my v2 and the buyer returned a few days later in tears because one of the lower legs, not the knee but the leg, had completely shattered — a break I've never seen reported elsewhere.
Likewise, the exploding shoulders is I think mostly the issue with the Hasbro version, although there have been some reports on TT versions.
V1 has the foot springs emerging and some other small problems
V2 fixed all the problems of V1, but created a new one with the chest/torso connection: that hinge is made from clear plastic and something went wrong resulting in it breaking. A possible solution (I did this after mine broke and it held up) is to take this piece apart and with a drill widen the hole for the pin.
To my knowledge, the most recent version hasn't had any problems reported…yet?
But this figure is too ambitious for it's size and time. I think if it had been bigger, say the same size as MP-01/5 as it should be for the Rodimus Prime mode, then it most likely would've been much sturdier.

Woke up on the wrong side of the bed? Another Brian S? It is only human to voice the frustrations as I knew what I was getting into when I bought a preowned MP-09, so if you took time to read my post I was asking our fellow members who got the Good Life Design if indeed the issues were fixed.
Those who don't own the Good Life version need not post.
I hope the dopamine rush was worth it.

This release is almost 100 years old. Its problems are well documented.
Buying one and complaining about it having issues or questionable design decisions is silly at best. If one decides to buy this POS, it is your own fault.
Do not @ me.

I'm late into the game owning one. Having fiddled with the 2nd release (I think), fairly mint with some scratches on his engine block, pre owned MP-09 of the Takara version, I was stumped by the seemingly stupid design of that latch that connects the backpack to his body (y'all know what I mean).
Anyway, been trying to attach it but it keeps on slipping out. I was thinking, WTEF Takara? Who's the m0r0nic engineer you hired to design this? Was this a 1 month all nighter project like MP-05?
Anyway, I noticed a connecting "Y" (it is colored black) which is connected to that red "I" plastic, just below his yellow spoiler in front of that light gray plastic part that connects to his main body. That effin part has to be aligned in such away that will in turn push that gray part upwards to give it just enough enough room for the pegs to the red part of the back.
Mor0nic(?) Or just it didn't occur to them designers? That red "I" part is about a millimeter short. So just a little jiggle and off goes that gray tab that connects to the two red pegs on the red back panel. to the back.
So for those who have the Good Life Design version (aka the China release), some of our members attest that it has been fixed. Could it be that the red "I" connector been lengthened and the two red pegs/teeth that connects to the gray part were also lengthened?
I'm not even discussing the exploding knees or was it shoulders (thank Primus mine hasn't yet)

Right! I'd love to see XTB's take on him as well. He'd no-doubt include his human figure, much like the ones included with their upcoming Springer and Ultra Magnus. Same with Hot Rod. He needs to be redone. Fans Toys Hoodlum probably looks the best at the moment, but could use some work.
franpincho
This figure needs (an actual) V2.
It is downright crazy that after all these years, this decent-looking piece of shit is still the very best option for an MP Rodimus Prime.
Fafnir72
I don't own Hoodlum but if it is on scale with MP Hotrodimus then the face are waaaaaaaay off scale from MP09.
marioxb
Wonder if Hoodlum's Rodimus face would work/ look good?
MacrossA
It always seemed to me to be a figure that could actually bc played with.
Aesthetically, I think the eyesores on mp9 are his face and hands. I'd like to upgrade those on mine

This is what those dudes said was improved on whatever toy they reviewed:

But I guess it really wasn't that extensive of fixes as they made it out to be?
Dickyscrubbs
They weren’t KOs..I believe they were large amount of loose factory rejects that hit the market with some minor improvements made to them. Nothing earthshaking, and most had imperfections. I bought 2 from TF direct.
MacrossA
I'd say go to the groups on Facebook and make a wanted post here.. If someone is selling usually that contract you
marioxb
Any idea on where to purchase a KO? Didn't see any on ebay…
MacrossA
There were a bunch of people that modified and improved existing official and ko mp9s. There was a Facebook page.
