Courtesy of NDA-Toys Website we have our first in-package images of the upcoming War For Cybertron: Siege Micro Masters Battle Patrol, Air Strike Patrol & Race Car Patrol.
These new Micro Masters come in 2-packs, and these sweet cool little toys can combine to create a weapon to be used by the bigger figures of the line. We have our first look at the great art packaging of Micro Masters Wave 1 Autobots Topshot & Flak (Battle Patrol), Roadhandler & Swindler (Race Car Patrol) and Decepticons Stormcloud & Visper (Air Strike Patrol). All of them are homages to the original G1 Micro Masters.
We are sure your optics will be please with the images attached to this news post. You can check them out after the jump, and then you can sound off on the 2005 Boards!

Lol, not being an ass, it's obviously an autcorrect but it did make me giggle.
You're correct, course, it's either sets or characters. I'm hoping for 11 sets
PrimalFury
No one is using the wrong word, character doesn't always refer only to one individual being and it's the wording that was used in the original article revealing the wave.
Smitty.1981
One of you is using the wrong word. It's either 11 characters witch means one character is in two sets, or 11 patrols witch means 22 character. I would say expect to see a "Soundwave Attack Patrol" with Rumble and Frenzy, but other than that I have no idea what they'll do.
PrimalFury
I was going to say the exact same thing lol
lonewolf96
Well it makes sense but you are wrong
11 characters across 4 waves doesn't in this instance mean just 10 individual characters plus a single packed one.
Right now know of five 2pks giving us 10 characters but we also know of 2 more giving us 14 total so that throws your theory out the Window.
Diamondback
11 Characters does not equal 11 Packs, though. At 2 figures/pack, it would be more like five packs and one extra MM packed with a playset or bigger bot.

Yup:
WFC Micromaster: 11 Characters across 4 Waves
Summary: 7 Characters revealed, 4 more left
Wave 1 (3) – Autobot Battle Patrol, Autobot Race Car Patrol, Decepticon Air Strick Patrol
Upcoming Waves (4) – Autobot Off Road Patrol, Autobot Rescue Patrol, Decepticon Sports Car Patrol, Soundwave Spy Patrol
PrimalFury
So we are getting 11 Micromaster patrols total for Siege right?

Amazon's been playing the same game with Jurassic World figures, too… then they lie about it when called on their listing for above MSRP.

For all the problems that Deluxe FOC Prime had, the sheer amount of 5mm ports he has is great fun.

I really need to start saving my pennies for these guys…
Either that or stop buying so many 3rd party items.

Doesn't it seem a bit ironic? Micromasters came toward the end of the G1 empire, likely as a novel way to introduce a new gimmick AND reduce the manufacturing costs for Hasbro.
Here we are, some 30 years later, and I see the same thing: reduce costs, new gimmick!
I've long hypothesized that the growing pressure to keep costs down and keep modern articulation/parts-count/etc. in would force Hasbro to eventually SHRINK all these toys down. Instead, the growing popularity of "collector items" has created a divergent path, where Hasbro has both reduced costs (kid/cartoon toy line) AND raised prices (adult lines), and sometimes both!
ALSO: I love these. My biggest complaint is we're only getting 3 sets at a time, with a ton of repeat Optimi, Megatron, etc. I needs more Legends figs!

So bought….Do we have a release date estimation and price range?
Hope sizewise they are not THAT far from the old ones.

The packages are really nice and the molds themselves are as well. A shame I'm so picky. But I'm fine with the Megatron and Optimus I have. But I don't think it's out of the questions these might get repainted in later years, as the original Classics Molds also have been repainted a lot. Even if they are more expensive, I would gladly wait for repaints without Battle Damage and maybe Optimus remolded a bit, so that he looks more like an Earth truck. If I wouldn't have Megatron and Optimus already, I'd be probably all over them, even though I dislike the battle damage and various color choices.
Shin Densetsu
The extra 5mm ports for extra weapons gimmick seemed to start with the 2010 Generations line with the WFC game figures. I remember that it didn't take long for fans to add guns to the extra ports that deluxe WFC Prime had.

Depends on how they were done(new construct bots), but I meant that more in how Unlimits Project, Desktop Army, and Frame Arms have extra pieces that can build other stuff besides additional power ups, and how it's limited only by what you can come up with. The V1 construct bots were great, the V2 were also better with the balljoints, but the peg system of the v1 was better than the clip system of the v2. Really it's more in the implementation and sculpt that's the issue. Like how they should have expanded into Kre-O like originally intended and measured to do on the v1, but was distanced from it in case they took off and wanted to do other wider licenses they didn't have building block rights for. If the sculpts can lean more towards the Cyber Battalion like Prowl/Sideswipe, that'd be a great combo.

Yeah, I had the red (sorta) dragon gift set from Fuzors, at least. And, I dunno what happened to that, like so many things. Though, I definitely donated my old legos, including heaps of Bionicle bits.
Now, I dunno that I’d ever be that enthused for new Construct-bots, but I am excited to see how Siege advances.
And, the only plamo I’ve been really considering is FlameToys’ Deformer Soundwave. And I’d have to get some paint & brushes and begin to learn how to really finish and not straight build a kit.

It's a relatively newer thing.
And BoJ will be looking into farther reaching cross compatibility later for sentai. But they've been experimenting with that over in the minipla for a long while already, with Kyu being the one that broke the trend, with Super Minipla also intentionally messing with the port systems to vary it up for reasons. The DX sentai are harder to do that due to how the engineering per series works, but there are possibly future things looking into that.
Mugenbine was an older thing, but it was a mild test concept too. The gunpla/minipla design teams though have been looking into self compatibility for a bit. The idea for those 4 I mentioned in particular is that it's a built in play feature of their own lines, with Frame Arms being the one that actually reaches across other lines, the rest stay self contained to their own lines. Seemingly drawing influences from Construct-bots actually as well as other sources. Zoids has looked into it in the past too, with Fuzors.

I couldn’t be sure without doing the research to confirm a mutual referencing of work by each team’s artists. Still, it’s quite the path of iteration across companies and generations to get here.
And, yesterday the Megaman X & Zero series came to mind as I was pondering what a Combiner Soundwave could like, besides Kamen Rider Kiva Emperor (DoGaBaKi) Form. Also, while a bit off topic, I’m pretty excited for IntiCreates’ Dragon Marked for Death, since it features character designs from MM Zero and ZX’s Nakayama Toru.
Meanwhile, of course, Bandai’s had Sentai to play with combination, but that doesn’t really incorporate interaction between each years’ figures, or at least not frequently. Though, Machine Robo might, and Mugenbine certainly does or did… I’m not sure if that is or isn’t a continued property.
Finally, what’s especially funny is that I’ve been thinking about Owlcons and wondering whether clip-on BirbMasters would be feasible. Instead, it wouldn’t be so unusual at all to have birds that turn into clip-on rail guns, though it would probably be easier and more useful if they had 5mm pegs and ports.
