Thanks to 2005 Boards member griffin-of-oz we have a nice surprise for the Transformers Authentics line: The 5-inch Authentics Grimlock was found In Australia.
This is a very nice and unexpected sighting. Don’t get confused with the already known 7-inch Authentics Grimlock that is already out in the market a while ago. This is a new smaller mold which is part of the 5-inches Authentics collection consisting of Bumblebee, Megatron, Optimus Prime and Starscream.
This new toy brings us a detailed and simple G1-styled Grimlock with a transformation similar to the G1 toy. Sadly, it has no real arms since they are just molded on the body. This figure should be a new Wave 2 of the small Authentics toys. It is unknown if Grimlock is the only lone release or if the are more toys coming in the future.
You can check out all the images griffin-of-oz shared for us after the jump, and then share your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

Some studio series transformers suck like ratchet, ironhide, bumblebee, but some are amazing

I'm just trying to level with people, so I can understand their opinion on Transformers today. I'm the type of person who likes to discuss topics like these, to get to the bottom of their meaning.
I agree with you too OwlLasers, same thoughts on the matter.

Thank you! My sentiments exactly.

Okay, I'm not even an adult collector (I'm actually going to be 16 this month) but I just wanted to know, why do people think that every toyline that Hasbro produces, are for adult collectors? I feel like it's a selfish move for an adult to complain about these figures, when they weren't even aimed towards or intended for them in the first place.
Not every Transformers line is aimed at adult collectors.
There are many Toylines for a reason, in my opinion, it is to appeal to a wider range of people, differentiating between age, and background. Not everyone can afford to buy from certain toylines, so Hasbro is trying to provide options to suit the person.
I find it funny how much people complain about figures nowadays but yet it seems to me that Hasbro is trying pretty hard to give them what they want. It's just the fact that people just can't be happy one way, or another. I mean, they have Masterpiece figures for Adult collectors, which I would say are premium and highly detailed figures, perfect for collectors.
So what I'm trying to say, is why do we complain so much? can't we be thankful that Hasbro still produces TFs in general? I feel very grateful for the fact that Transformers are even around still. Anyways, I really hope I don't offend anyone, that was not my intention with this post. I was just trying to look into this subject.

You know, adult collectors get a LOT of love from Has/Tak and the Transformers line. I think we can be, you know, adults about there being some sub-lines that just aren't meant for us.

That's how I see the Studio Series line, actually.
The correct perspective, actually.
See below:
Yeah, these aren't the greatest figures and are generally "cheap", but are NOT aimed at adult collectors.
I've personally seen little kids in less well-off families with these figures, the 4 POA Titans and the little carded military figures enjoying the absolute hell out of them. Kids in lower income brackets don't generally know that they are playing with what a bunch of whiny internet manchildren deem as "garbage".
FFS, accept that not everything needs to be aimed at the collectors market and that not everyone has such "high standards" and many can't afford MP's or even mainline $20 Deluxes. If these are loved and appreciated by those with less means, then back the hell off and let them exist. Who knows, when these kids get older and can afford the "better" stuff these dollar store bots may be considered their G1 and a gateway for a new collector and fan.

I actually like that Grimlock …
the others are a pass though

They're intended to be a discount line. For dollar stores and other cheaper outlet type places. So that kids can get official transformers at those instead of non-sturdy knockoffs that break. Hence also the "authentics" name.
So reduced part count, simplified engineering, and similar aspects should be expected. They aren't supposed to be complex. They are supposed to be cheap but still accurate depictions. And some turn out pretty sweet like Megatron. The concept is to open the market share up for places like Family Dollar and similar. But major retailers and online retailers see the transformers label and order them too because anything transformers tends to sell nowadays. So they're getting a little bit more widespread release than originally anticipated.
It's because of rising costs of premium lines that Hasbro wants to make sure that kids on a budget can still have access to named characters that look like the characters at lower prices. 4 of these is roughly the same price as 1 WFC deluxe. Same as Cyber Battalion is designed in a similar way for kids that want a bigger bot for their money. (Prowl of that is freaking boss! Only one I have so far.)
Protostar
Gosh, when's predaking gonna hit shelves :c

Some of these look pretty trashy, but i picked up the megatron on a whim and it is pretty heckn great? A little overdesigned sure, but sculpt and posability is great! He makes a great legends+ megs! Strong reccomend from me!

You’ll find that not all kids are idiots. Many of them know junk when they see it. I’m sure everyone here remembers at least one toy as a kid that they felt could have been better, less cheap, more articulation, or some other thing about it that made them think the thing was garbage. Our standards for quality today as collectors probably have a basis in our experience with junk throughout our childhood. This and maybe the cyberverse line is probably one of those times
CleverNamePendingatron
I for one enjoy this toyline.
I wasn't initially planning on picking them up, but I spotted the full wave 1 of 5-inch figures in Woolworths one day for $5 each and couldn't resist. They're not the best toys ever, but I enjoy them. They're small, simple and fun, and I'll probably pick up the Grimlock if I see him.
I actually hope we get more. I'd love to get the whole G1 cast at this scale, and for $5 each, I see no problem.
scrapmetaru
But look at Bumblebee. They could have used the Legion class's extremely simple engineering to make a greater figure. That thing is over-designed into sucking. And I don't know how Grimlock's arms happened. I'm pretty sure a designer would have to fuck up a basic elbow that badly on purpose.
Requiem Prime
I'm not sure what Hasbro is going for with this line. They've made lines for little kids before. Movie and show lines are obvious. Everything under the Generations umbrella is non-adult collecting for it's own sake and masterpiece is adult collecting for it's own sake. What is this? At it's worse it's like an official knock-off effort.
Nemisispath
I feel bad for any kid that gets stuck with this stuff…
User_124141
Hasbro please stop with this nonsence
Sideways77
It's like some toys are made specifically for children or something
