Following on from yesterday’s IDW comics solicitations, we have a look at the retailer incentive cover for Star Trek vs Transformers issue 3. This cover by Megan Levens features the ladies of both franchises in a single shot, with Arcee and Windblade alongside Star Trek’s iconic Lieutenant Uhura, plus Nurse Chapel and Lieutenant M’Ress. This retailer incentive cover is a 1 in 10 variant – so comic stores receive a copy for every ten issues they order.
Check out the cover attached to this post.

I do really wonder how the Star Trek characters would react to the existence of the DJD.
GizmoTron
We all would because that would be awesome and fun.
Megastar
I usually am, becusce of work and family.
G1Prowl
Sure, whatever you say.
I look forward to 7 of 9 and Tarn in that book as well.
GizmoTron
Nice list, but like I said, they were probably looking for someone who gave off a "what is this fan fiction?" vibe, and none of those ladies fit that bill at all or as well as Windblade. The G1 versions of most of them are just rainbow colored personality-less Arcees, especially Paradron Medic who is literally just a green Arcee.
And anyway, much like how Glyph was a Botcon character who was added retroactively into G1, Windblade in Takara's fiction was built by the Zamojin and is a part of G1 there, so honestly it works fine.

Because. It. Doesn't.Matter. None. Of. This. Does.
G1Prowl
It was a multiperson sweep. Your portion was ignoring the whole Sunbow vs. Filmation argument, but as soon as I saw the word "retcon" I should have realized I was pissing up a rope. My apologies for attempting to explain something you wouldn't want to hear in the first place.
It looks like you won't even have to do it intentionally, or you're just always in a hurry.
Megastar
Thanks and now i'll intentionally misuse the word just to annoy you, becusce God forbidden making a mistake while being in a hurry!

Why did you make this a response to me? I didn't mention gender politics or Windblade being a girl. My accusation wasn't sexism, it was that you're taking this nothing crossover that no one should be angry about and well, getting angry about it. This like getting angry Venus was in the Archie/Ninja Turtles crossover. Actually, I think it's sillier because some people genuinely like Windblade.
Mirage00
Yeah and that was the fanbase biggest mistake, now we have to deal with her. Gender isn't even the issue it is you who is bringing that up.
Mirage00
It's a BADASS picture for sure.
G1Prowl
How is that sentence improper? The commas all correspond with natural pauses or pauses in idea, inflection, and segue, so I'm baffled as far as where you see incorrect grammatical structure? Oh, I could have italicized "this" immediately after the last comma, but it was not necessary to do so. It would simply be preference to illustrate emphasis.

If you're going to be critiquing people's writing abilities, it might be good to write proper sentences in the process.
Or were you making an ironic comment about lazy teaching?
Digger
Amen!
G1Prowl
Special mention to this one quote:
It's "we're". I'm annoyed but pretty forgiving about people butchering their homophones on this site, especially since text speak and lazy teaching help enable it, but this right here, this is in a world of its own. It doesn't even SOUND the same to fuck that word usage up.
It might be in your interest to use "talk to text", or sit down and get a grasp of the written English language, since that's what this board uses.
That may seem rough, but it has about as much contribution to the overall thread as your post did.
Okay, so let's look at the list of Sunbow G1 females that could have been on that cover:
Elita-1
Chromia
Moonracer
Firestar
Greenlight
Lancer
Lifeline (Paradron medic)
Glyph
Those are just the ones with documented appearances on the cartoon. So the crux of the issue isn't gender politics, it's the choice of character. You all nonchalantly breezed past my Counselor Troi comment as it's the most direct parallel to the issue here. As much of a fan as I am of Airrazor, I'd be just as up in arms if she was in this series.

Yeah, but he's still a canon character and he's from a different time rather than there all the time like Windblade is in IDW, she's just another Caminen. The only way she doesn't fit is with the aesthetic with this G1 toon designss, which purely the look, not the characterization or lore. There's nothing to stop them having her in it, because, at least as far I've seen, this isn't any previous universe. PLus with Primus being Vector Sigma now, there's nothing stopping them from retconning Windblade into the background of the G1 toon as the unseen sunbow Grand Architect or something.
GizmoTron
I'm aware of M'ress and her origins, but it doesn't change the fact that she's not from the actual TOS and that a feline furry alien on board the Enterprise will always seem really out of place to me, Filmation cartoon canon or no. Just overall a very oddball addition.
From a creative standpoint, though, I think Windblade was chosen because she stands out just as much when placed on the Transformers side, and she is the only female Autobot who is distinctively different enough from the rest of the cast to do so.

Just leave Windblade alone! She didn’t do anything! It’s hasbro’s fault that she’s everywhere. She’s still a cute Japanese plane girl who loves peace and is gonna change the world!
