Here’s a story we never expected to report. The Generation 1 Dinocassettes – Dial and Zaur – are getting a reissue. In the USA.
These two cassettes were two of the absolute rarest of rare Transformers toys, released back in Japan only in 1987 as a part of the Headmasters series, to accompany the re-release of Blaster, retooled into Twincast. They are notorious for commanding a significant price on today’s aftermarket – but as a part of this upcoming SDCC set, you can get the pair for $60.
They come in a retro styled set modelled on an old cassette tape with a premium gold finish version of the Studio Series Bumblebee toy, and are set to be a San Diego Comic Con 2018 exclusive, with limited stock going on Hasbro Toy Store afterwards. The Bumblebee itself looks awesome – but let’s face it, many, many fans are getting this set because we’re finally getting official, affordable re releases of the Dinocassettes. This set goes with Dairu for Dial, and Uruaz for Zaur – a play on their mistranslated English names back in the day, with a reversal for Zaur as this release makes his mold into a Decepticon.
Rock on.

These guys arrived today. There was a free Bumblebee figure included for some reason.

Saw these posted some where. Can't wait to get volume II
PoweredConvoy
Not that I'm aware of. I thought you might have based on how he looked.
Maz
No I didn't, is there a safe way to do so?

Maz, did you reverse the feet in the combined mode so that they can fold down all the way?
Thanks!

"They" who? Encore is a Takara line. These Studio Series sets are Hasbro releases.
Stepper
I rather they reissue these cassettes under the Encore series than to be release as repaint via this Retro 80s Bumblebee set.
Dudicus
They’re misassembled, the feet are swapped and consequently one of them doesn’t fold down all the way. Scroll up to Maz’s picture of the combined mode and you can see what I’m talking about.

Why are you looking to swap them? Just curious…
Dudicus
Anyone find a way to get Uruaz's neck and tail apart to swap those combiner feet?
Maz
Nothing since my last post here, eh? Must fix!

Realised I didn't take a photo of the dinos together.

Was finally able to locate my camera. I have two picture sets – one of the misalignment & one of a second order. I have also seen Uruaz with loose legs & tight legs. These are both from the batch on the back of the box 81451 – V-2976B. I have also seen this same issue in batch 81501 that represents part of the actual SDCC sold product that weekend. For those with similar issues, Hasbro does still have inventory & you can try to get it resolved if you are patient & don't mind receiving replacements:
Another difference spotted – in case this matters to perfectionists – the ports on the weapons, that insert in the cassettes – some have a plastic coating all the way up the shaft & others do not:

Thundershot
I really hope they do the other set… then all we need are Raindance, Grandslam, Sqwalktalk, and Beastbox to have all of the G1 cassettes reissued.
Maz
Still loving it. Roll on Vol 2!

Anyone still looking for these at initial SDCC street price – they are back up in HTS – Generic Error now with a limit of 2 per household. Previously this was not listed on the page.
