Thanks to our fellow 2005 Boards member Type-R for sharing in our forums some great in-hand images of the recent Takara Tomy Street Fighter II x Transformers figures.
These Takara Tomy Mall exclusive sets are the most recent Transformers crossover, featuring Ken (Titans Return Hot Rod) vs. Chun Li (Generations Arcee) and Ryu (Titans Return Optimus Prime) vs. Vega / M. Bison (Titans Return Megatron).
The images surfaced via Twitter users たごーる, 卯月ちゃん@FastLastSong!, テメノスU-R244号, アルフェス2010:ひげひげ休止中, and Planet Iacon – Singapore Transformers Fans Unite!! (S.T.F.U!!) on Facebook. The images reveal the nice extra details and paint applications, stands, inner backgrounds and homages that will please Street Fighter fans and the creative way the figures can recreate some of the iconic special movements of each character.
You can now check out the mirrored gallery after a hadoken and then sound off your impressions on the 2005 Boards.

A different group made a robot design inspired by Arcee. I gave it the Chun-Li deco, and thought some SF fans here would get a kick out it.

Ya know, that's a good idea. If this sub-series sold well, I think it would be a lot of fun for Takara to continue it.
PotP OpOp –> Zangief
TR Octane or Alpha Trion/Lioconvoy –> Akuma/Gouki. Octane's head sculpt reminds of Akuma's wild hair but it would be boring to reuse it since Ryu is already using it. Maybe A3/Lioconvoy cause the lion design reminds me of Akuma's "beastly" nature.
??? –> Guile, maybe TR Broadside, since it fits with the air force (although that mold is kinda weak).
Deathcatg
If this were to continue, I'd love to see PoTP Optimal Optimus become Zangief. Those are some serious grappler hands he has. Maybe the inner Primal could be repainted to be Mecha Zangief from the VS games. And in his chest, he carries the Matrix of MUSCLE SPIRIT!
Deathcatg
Same for me. I would have even preferred them to be single packed instead of double packed. If that was the case, I might have at least bought the Chun Li Arcee and considered the Bison/Vega Megatron.

I guess Akuma will be TR Overlord Mold.
Digger
I can understand the issue with that but I think this mold just simply fits more than the Titans return one. I think it was a good compromise. Also that mold is everywhere.
Thundershot
Oh I completely understand why they used that mold. I just like my sets to match. I don’t have a little chun-li Headmaster to go with the others.

Exactly! The fact that the others happen to be TR molds is simply a factor of what was available, and TT is clearly downplaying that aspect, to look at the packaging. The intention is to get the SF characters in TF form, and there's no disputing that T30 Arcee is far superior at evoking Chun-Li than TR Arcee could possibly have been.

"Megatron Bison" the beast wars character you never knew you wanted!
Johntimus Prime
While most of us call him Bison in the West, let's take a moment to realize how silly it is for a dictator to be named after a type of moo-cow.
Vega doesn't sound that much scarier as a name tbh, but I want to imagine the M. stands for "Milton".
The toys are a weird but kinda interesting collector's piece. The Megatron and Ken molds especially work better than they should. Too bad Ken still has the issues the mold is known for (loose hips, right arm not locking tight in car mode), but that's expected. Nice that they recreated Ken's epic eyebrows via Hot Rod's head crest.
I also like the subtle, you-won't-notice-it-at-first touch that Ryu and Ken have their black belts painted on. Also, Ryu's belt's gold lettering on the sides of the truck mode.
While they could have used the TR Arcee mold, she's a bit blocky/chunky, so I think T30 Arcee works better aesthetically. Not to mention that mold's Leia buns work too perfectly as Chun-Li's.
So I like them! Not sure TT will do more in the future, but these are a nice last hurrah for the TR molds…until they get used again for a $3,000 TT Mall exclusive set or whatever.
Thundershot
I got mine today and they look great in hand. Hot Rod/Ken’s legs are a bit loose like the original versions. I’ll fiddle with them more tomorrow.
I really wish they had used the Headmaster Arcee though, so to match the others. I understand why they chose the Generations one (for the trademark Chun-Li “thunder thighs”) but I would have definitely preferred the other mold. I also wish they had used different faceplates instead of just repainting the ones that went with the molds originally.
Still neat figures as a novelty.

Attitude Era? What about the Federation Era (1984-1992) and the New Generation Era (1993-1997)? Don't left out these two eras!
ZapRowsdower
It's too bad these sets are so pricey! I like them… maybe not $90-120 like them! Cause they do look a bit like the TFs are cosplaying!
Dammit… MUST… RESIST…
Digger
No but they could try. This line proves takar’s ability to paint well done details on unnatural sculpts. And there’s definitely one figure that can do it justice.
Digger
Holy fuck!
Johntimus Prime
I'd love to see Guile. He'd HAVE to be a jet, of course, but sadly no TF head sculpt can mimic the greatest hair in fighting games.

This is what I was talking about right here. The leader of Shadowloolaw is named Mr. Mike Bison. His henchman is Master Boxer.
Let, it, go.
RazorclawX
Mike only applies to Boxer.
For Dictator, it's just M.
Digger
Maybe jetfire? He’d be massive but it would fit the generations aesthetic.
