Thanks to our sponsor Robotkingdom for sharing our first images of the Takara Tomy Encore God Fire Convoy Packaging via their Facebook account.
Takara brings us a great reissue of Car Robot God Fire Convoy, better known as Omega Prime from the original RID cartoon and toyline from 2001. This reissue brings us a new cartoon accurate deco, and replaces most of the chrome of the original release with metallic paint, new sound and voice clip (recorded by the original Japanese voice actors). More remarkable is the inclusion of the enormous Super God Sword which was originally available with the exclusive ToysRus Japan 2-Pack of the same figures, but in clear plastic.
The packaging is very similar to the original ToysRUs Japan exclusive box. The ToysRUs logos of the original box are now replaced with the Encore logos. The front of the now features a picture of the reissue mold showing the new colors, and indicates that it will come with 47 electronic sounds nonetheless. The back of the box retains the cool CGI art of God Fire Convoy (RID Omega Prime), Fire Convoy (RID Optimus Prime) and God Magnus (RID Ultra Magnus).
According to the information shared by Robotkingdom, the figure starts shipping on 24th March, 2018. Great new for loyal RID/Car Robot fans like your newsie here. A great opportunity to grab two of the best molds of this line. You can click on the bar to check out the mirrored images on this news post and then sound off at the 2005 Boards!

Posted this in another thread earlier…Yes, it's happening.

Interesting. Wonder what the QC problems were
Sam
Woah. Is that a first for Takara?

It seems that the recent God Fire Convoy re-release is going to be recalled?

My mistake.

Say what? Seriously?
Might have to retrieve it from m4 4 year old LOL

Probably not since the original toy didn't include all the extras and I don't recall Brave using any of that extra stuff in the cartoon.
Plus the Encore Fort Max sold poorly, so there's that. And actually I think there's a better chance now of the new Fort Max mold getting a limited run as Brave like they're doing for Grand Max.

Yeah. The Movie The Best Grimlock and Strafe have retooled backs to accommodate their new accessories, Optimus and Bumblebee respectvely, so that they can ride them.
I think you misread my post. It's the Movie The Best line that has the retools, not the Studio Series.
Black Convoy
Considering that the original set that came with the sword can go for 1000 bucks, this new set price does not sound bad for me.

Fire Convoy and God Magnus — do we know why so Pricey ??

Yeah. I think that would be obvious from my post.

What I heard about those parts that are no longer chromed is that they are now covered with metallic paint like the Animated figures from Takara. In my opinion, this is much better and closer to the original animation model then the chrome. Also no chrome can start to flake on those larger areas and make the figures look ugly (or at least no longer that good looking).

I kinda want this set but not that price. I already have the Costco set from Cybertron which I still treasure (one of the best gifts I ever got and one I never expected) this boxed set looks really nice (and they included the spear which sweetens the deal). Apparently I might go to Japan soon so perhaps I'll pick it up there.

That'd be awesome. though Id much rather see an Encore Grand Max over a Brave, considering Brave max is still semi affordable 2nd hand.
PoweredConvoy
You're welcome.

I wonder, since the Encore Line now includes CarRobots/RID2000, if Takara would do a complete Brave Maximus with Cog/gasket/Grommet, the Master Sword, & all the Fort Max weapons? I sure hope so!
blackconvoy_D01
MP Fire Convoy and God Magnus would be more exciting.

You are talking like Japanese exclusives are the only things Takara makes. both the TLK and Studio Series figures are designed by both Hasbro and Takara together and released the same from both as well. the Movie the Best stuff is to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the movie franchise, and to give fans who missed out on those long out of production molds a chance to pick them up in nice shiny paint. and reissues have always been a thing, how can you complain about this while not complaining about pretty much every platinum edition release? that line has both g1 reissues, repaints of old as shit molds, and is overpriced just like this reissue. there was also the commemorative series back in the day by Hasbro. I just think its silly to complain about reissues like Takara is only doing em now out of laziness or something, they've always been a thing in the brand.

Oops. Guess I didn't look closely enough at the pictures when I said what I said about the plastic.

I wouldn't mind a minty fresh set of these guys, not sure at that price though. I still have my original set, even though primes tires split years ago. Plus I still have a sealed set of original plus a sealed set of the sams club exclusive ones where prime is yellow. So not sure I'll bite at these.
