Via Magic Square Toys Weibo we have images of Magic Square Toys Strongman (Legends Scaled G1 Huffer).
This figure is a very cartoon-accurate representation of Trailbreaker in both modes. You have the option to display him with both hands or the arm cannon in robot mode. The images let us see the size compared to other Magic Square figures like Sideswipe and Sunstreaker in alt mode. Another picture shows Trailbreaker next to Beachcomber, proving that the scale between these figures works very well. Another very nice addition to the growing options of unlicensed Legends scaled figures.
No information on release date yet, but you can check out the mirrored images after the jump, and then share your impressions at the 2005 Boards!

I see, yeah I was wondering if they used a different material. Nice!
juggins
Sweet, hope they make this the standard in the future. I never minded the matte finish but I can't deny that the paint looks better.
Huub
Yeah, this newly painted TB is a big step up for fans of paint.
Couple of days ago MS announced Ironhide EX, which uses the same paint technique as this TB.

Just got him today and at first it feels he is cast in a different plastic than previous releases, but mid transformation you can tell the plastic is the same when you find a non-glossy finish portion. (I’m still trying to find the second and first releases to compare).
Except for the midriff pin joint he is very well toleranced.
In my opinion this version is a must have.
juggins
Huh, didn't know that, thanks. I wonder why they did that, maybe it was to make transformations easier? At least it seems they ditched that, their later figures have much better mobility.
Phase Sixer
Pretty much all the early MS molds didn’t use ball joints for the head.

Just got the new painted version and it looks great, the gloss of the paint is a big step up from their usual matte material. I hope they continue to paint more figures like this, as it'd largely fix people's biggest complaint with their figures, being the matte/"dull" appearance. I never had an issue with the material, but I can't deny that the paint makes it look better.
I just REALLY wish they could've given his head a ball joint. I know his head is on a pin because of the transformation, but him not being able to look up naturally is the only thing keeping me from loving this mold. Even the Earthrise Trailbreaker's head can look up further than this guy lol.

Yo, I really hate when companies package them in bot mode already. It's stupid. They are robots in disguise after all. They supposed to be in alt-mode. It almost ruins the fun. Magic Square is just weird with that.
TIKnTIN
yeah, i just saw the update in the jazz thread. magic square is always such a mystery.

Yeah, i had the same issue, the backpack joints isnt well toleranced, way too thigh, i had to work it until i could transform it or lock it in better even for Bot mode. My side leg panels are super loose, i will have to apply Kiki fix it joint, and it will be perfect.
Man i LOVE the paint on this guy. Who knew i would ever say that on a MS legends product…
The posted pictures online dont show how nice this looks in person.
Ravewind
When mine comes in I'll do comparisons with the last painted one they did (missed the original first release).
Galdelico
Snap… I stored the previous release without taking any comparison shot. :/
In all honesty, this A repaint looks much nicer than expected. Huge disclaimer, when a figure comes packed in bot mode, I never transform it basically (to this day, TF are pretty much robots only to me) so I can't really judge tolerances and how it all comes together in alt mode.

Paint looks solid, even and sharp and overall this character stands way cooler than its predecessor on display. My only nitpick is that the backpack doesn't seem to sit as flush but it doesn't give the impression to remain misplaced either, so no big deal.
Godzilla 13
Have there been photos anywhere comparing the new version with the old one?
zfarsh
yup, even says the model number with A (version A) on the card, with strength / speed and all those other stuff.
SuperDaddyo
Awesome! Thanks @zfarsh for confirming. The collector card wasn't listed as included on the MS website so I feared they left it out of this release. I really like having the little tech specs cards so I was hoping I could get one with this version. (I've dropped hints with my family so I'm hoping I get this Trailbreaker for a Christmas gift.)
zfarsh
Jazz missed the boat on their new repaint…
Hound seems to be, but would like fans confirming if it will have the same smooth surface as trailbreaker A.
Wanting Prime / Ironhide in full paint next personally
TIKnTIN
hmmm…sounds promising. been waiting for MS to continue providing the paint quality and finish from prime v1 metallic v2 and metallic soundwave. ever since then they never have seemed to replicate those in future releases.
don't really care to pick up another copy of this. i'm happy with the prior re-issue that goes well with the original hoist.but i hope to see this level of repaints on newer releases. now i'm wondering if the new announcements of hound and jazz are on the same lines, and if we'll see prime v2 and mirage soon as well.
zfarsh
yes
SuperDaddyo
Random question: did this version come with a collector card?
zfarsh
Got my order in last night
Had the original one way back when, and sold it years later when i was getting out of legends. Happy i waited for this repaint, looks like the KO MP i ordered
Got my copy this morning from Show Z, and… SOOO GLAD I WASNT ABLE TO CANCEL IT!!! Damn this thing looks MUCH nicer in person than these pictures.
SMOUUUUUTH surfaces all across, beautiful dark grey / light grey / Red / Silver / Blue metallic window. Wow, IS THIS MAGIC SQUARE?
Now the tolerances arent anywhere as good as the original on my copy, but mostly good. Some loose, some way too tight.
Maybe i should have waited before buying MS Mirage A…
