Continuing their week long Toy Fair Toy Reveals, Hasbro has unveiled (thanks to io9/Gizmodo) figures from the upcoming Transformers: Cyberverse toyline.
Confirming previously known rumors, the toys look quite identical to the Transformers Evergreen designs and even share similarities with the Transformers: Authentics toys for the budget market.
“Premiering later this year in an 18-episode run, Transformers Cyberverse follows Bumblebee as he tries to fix his damaged memory chips and remember what his mission, and purpose, on Earth is. Each 11-minute episode will focus more on character development and Transformers mythology and will feature bot designs very reminiscent of the original G1 line.
That’s being carried through to its accompanying toyline as well. In robot mode, the Transformers Cyberverse figures will bring back warm memories of the characters from the original animated series, even if the vehicle modes now feature radically different designs. Meanwhile, a new action feature called Action Attacker adds a bit of life to each toy.”

Ultimate Class Optimus Prime and Megatron
The vehicle or “alt” versions of the $30 Ultimate Class Optimus Prime and Megatron figures seem to deviate most from the G1 toys. But the robot modes, which can be reached in 11 or eight steps, respectively, will be more familiar to kids of the ‘80s. The posing potential of each figure—important for nostalgic collectors—looks great, but each toy also figures those animated attack modes, including the Fusion Mega Shot Action Attack for Megatron, and the Matrix Mega Shot Action Attack, which finally puts that Matrix of Leadership in Optimus’ chest to better use than just a plot point.
Warrior Class Starscream and Decepticon Shockwave
Outranking the Scout class is the Warrior Class Cyberverse toys featuring modernized versions of fan-favorite baddies Starscream and Shockwave. They’ll both be available in the Fall for $15, with Starscream requiring seven steps to transform, and Shockwave needing nine. With both figures the final transformation step triggers a unique attack move; the Wing Slice Action Attack for Starscream, and the Wave Cannon Action Attack for Shockwave—although the unblinking stare of Shockwave’s Cyclops eye is intimidating enough for me.
Ultra Class Grimlock and Bumblebee
Given he’s the star of the new animated series, it’s not surprising to see a couple of toy versions of Bumblebee being released. The Ultra Class version of Bee adds an extra transformation step over the Scout Class, but with a vastly improved vehicle mode, and an alternate Hive Swarm Action Attack move that’s triggered when the transformation is complete. Ultra Class Grimlock provides a little more of a challenge, with 14 steps needed to turn him into a T-rex, and a Rocket Roar Action Attack move. Both figures will sell for $20 when they arrive here on Earth in the fall.
Scout Class Bumblebee
To differentiate the amount of detail, transformability, and sizes of the toys in the new line, the Transformers Cyberverse figures are now broken down into classes, starting with the Scout Class Bumblebee. At $8 this kid-friendly version of Bee requires just six steps to go from robot to vehicle mode but still includes a Sting Shot Action Attack move with a blade that automatically pops out when triggered.

Yeah. The missile pods on the shoulders is aces to me. After finally seeing some of these in the store, I might pick up the leader sized (I can't remember what the designation for leader is for Cyberverse) Optimus and Megatron for my kid as they have a nice design and look sturdy (OPtimus' fist being enclosed by truck parts notwithstanding) and I'm sure he'll like the gimmicks.
Scoff
I think the only one I'm interested in getting is Ultra Grimlock because I really like the look of his robot mode. Less so his dino mode because of that goofy looking smile.

After watching some reviews on YouTube, this is a terrible line. It’s not even a good line for kids either. At least the 80s toys had the excuse that it was the 80s, these have no excuse.
Johntimus Prime
Ultra Grimlock has kinda grown on me, I admit. I might get him, Shockwave and Warrior Starscream (as if that's a surprise). Mostly just meh though on the other toys.

The Scouts are cheap and as long as the gimmicks work, they'll be fun little desk toys. They might even end up being more fun to fidget with than any of the Titan Masters or Prime Masters have been.

I know it's completely nuts – you just don't do that if you have any sense you make all the characters across all the sizes and each new wave you juggle them around. Released 3 Starscreams at the same time just sow's brand confusion.
They did the same thing with Nu-RID when they released a wide selection of Soundwaves in short order… very confusing.
I'm rather disapointed as when I saw the "Busy Book" designs I though… "Oh those look like they have potential" – I never imagined that art would look so unlike the toys.
It's like Hasbro wants the Chinese to take their ideas and do it better. Am I the only one who thought toys would get better over time – not reasch some high around 2010 and then get progressivly worse ever since (overall).

{EDIT}
Note on Warrior Optimus Prime.
If they had made the legs in two pieces the hollowness could have been invisible inside his legs and he could have also of had a moveable foot so he didn't have his toes sticking up in truck mode.
That toys just makes me flinch – Nu-RID had enough design compromises already – but something like Bumblebee wasn't that different from a normal Deluxe.
These are far far away from Deluxe quality – heck it terrifies me to contemplate what the Neo-WFC line will be like now. with the extensive use of Cybertronian mode I foresee design short-cuts aplenty ahead.

Go Nagai would be proud.
Venixion
Yeah they are. They look more like purple matches don't they?

I\'m half excited, and half dreading this show coming up. I hope with its (rough story it\'s not like RiD, nor as campy and rediculous. Unfortanately (like the quality of the figures) it seems it migh go that way. But you never know, they may surprise us with a high quality Transformers show (crossing fingers).
Also this is purely my opinion.
Johntimus Prime
I was thinking his backpack looks like a jet pack from a Bond film. If those missile batteries actually fired, he'd be cool. But alas
saberconvoy
Starscream looking like Sky Police.
Triggerhappy
Oh I get it, these are the 'core wave 1 characters' which retailers will over order on, meaning we'll likely not see much of the later characters
I think it's good no matter your budget you get to get the character but I can't help feeling they could have done this some other way
Johntimus Prime
Her Scout toy's gimmick is bouncing robo-boobs.
Fairlady_Z
Where is Windblade? Isn't she supposed to be prominent in this new series?
Johntimus Prime
Yep. I was considering getting NuRID Bludgeon to repurpose as CHUG Bludgeon, tbh…
Soundwave superior 21
Exactly! I'm not alone!
Johntimus Prime
IMO he'd make a great CHUG repurposed Shockwave until we get a proper Deluxe or Voyager Shocky who turns into a gun.
AndroidAnchovy
Oh yah, I'm certain too, but if they DID have proper alt modes, why haven't they just shown them off yet? Again, Megatron not having his cannon makes the idea of him turning into a full tank confusing.
Soundwave superior 21
I don\'t shockwave should have a human viechle form, but again that\'s my opinion.
