We had previously reported that the Transformers Authentics line will have some bigger and more articulated toys like: Grimlock, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. Thanks to several reports from our 2005 members, we can inform that these figures are already out at Philippines retail.
2005 Boards member vproject found the new big carded Authentics Grimlock at Toy Kingdom store in Manila for 599.75 Philippines Pesos which is 11.61 US dollars approximately.
2005 Boards member payres also shared more images from Snakas Blog which show Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, and comparison images next to the small Authentics figures. As an extra bonus we have some in-hand images of Grimlock. You need to assembly some parts of the figure, but it seems to be a simple but fun toy.
You can check out the mirrored images after the jump and then join to the discussion at the 2005 Boards!

Are these the evergreen designs?

Honestly the head looks really good. But I'd rather buy something like this off mcDonald's, they come with burger and fries.

That\'s actually not too terrible aside from the hollow legs. I\'d love to see this design in a better quality figure.

Oooooooh.

God fricking damnit, I want Orange Arms. Living in the UK sucks so badly. Well, off to eBay…

I think he's like me I'd rather buy my son something pricier that does something instead of something that will get old quick.

When did this line start being called Authentics?

Those Voyager-sized figures are of no interest of me. Kids will like them, but there's little one can customise out of a mostly empty shell. As budget toys they're okay. Hasbro had worse in the past.
The Legends-sized versions of same designs, though…
Also, you know how screwed Toys'R'Us is when Hasbro starts doing contingency plans for the retailer's demise.

Are those holes in Grimlock's fists 5mm?

I admit , Hasbro's last hope might be the Evergreen/Authentics if they are going to keep themselves afloat

I wouldn't have minded a proper Generations version of the Grimlock figure. I guess they got someone to come up with some cool concept pics and then hired a designer to turn it into a hollow chunk of plastic with minimum articulation.

They don't. Transformers: Cyberverse toys will replace RID content at the end of this year.
Evergreen/Authentics are categorized by Hasbro under Generations line. That doesn't mean they'll replace POTP or what comes after. Authentics is all about bringing the characters to the budget market. They'll be mainline Generations toys of Evergreen designs later for Collectors who love the new designs.
This is true and I have facts to prove that. A journalist friend of mine got invited by Hasbro for a preview show of their booth at UK Toy Fair. He told me that Hasbro is preparing for a "life without TRU". Transformers and other products are brokendown to cater various types of retailers. Some retailers can order the best highend stuff, while others can have toys like Authentics. Hasbro is also planning to offer quite a large number of exclusive stuff for retailers in the future including exclusive content to small retailers and not just to TRU, Walmart etc.
They are also introducing more app-driven toys. Even for Transformers. The initiative is called 'Phygital' (Physical + Digital). This'll help to re-capture the toy market which is now heavily damaged by Smartphones and apps. If Hasbro doesn't keep up, they know they can never win. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
Generations line won't be discontinued or anything, as far as I can tell. Hasbro is trying to figure out what to do next.

Makes me want to buy a Happy Meal.

2018 ; Not year of the Dog ; Year of the Sub-standard Grimlock toys.
I don't mind these things existing so long as there is a fire wall between them and Proper Generations toys ; I don't want them dragging the brand quality down into the gutter with them.
I'm much less impressed with these than I am with the South American Stuff – the only thiing wrong with that was a few missing joints – these things are super hollow and Knock Off looking (no insult to KO's intended).
I will likely buy them if only because they are so terrible I find them facinating. I expect they will get clearanced with in an inch of their lives just like the lower end of RID does. I don't actually mind the designs it's just the implementation that is poor.

I bought on impulse 3 of the Universal Studios/Walgreens exclusives. These look roughly like those in terms of size and quality. I sold/gave them away almost immediately.
Brief discussion point, sure. But these simply are not 'Generations' figures aimed at our attention. That is likely why there exist distinct sublines to Generations these days. Prime Wars is the popular G1 line that is clearly aimed at collectors. Generations is expanding, so it needs subline distinctions.
Another example on the opposite side of the price spectrum and most certainly for collectors is the new Mega Action Series, this subline is also Generations.

One can hope we'll get things like Pretenders, Seacons, new takes on BW characters, the Horrorcons as you mentioned, etc.
Deadend
They've also said that the lines after the Prime Wars trilogy will use engineering from the trilogy, and also that we may see stuff like the triple changing headmasters that weren't made yet with them also compatible to POTP and TR. Same as how any new combiners done will be compatible to Combiner Wars too. So I think it's safe to say Generations isn't going away anytime soon, and that they indeed will cover more characters that the trilogy didn't reach and are already planning that. They've also said they already have the next 5 years worth of material planned across several lines. So unless any plans have since changed, we're good.

This Grimlock design is so damn cool, I really hope we get to see more characters in this awesome style.
