Dude, you just nailed what it was I felt about Roberts' work post S1. S1 gave us things like Senator Shockwave, other pieces of the mythos that Barber would riff off of. Now Roberts' stuff doesn't even seem connected to the overall narrative anymore and the things that I thought were so compelling about S1 are things that don't even make sense anymore in the "shared universe".

I enjoy the new shared universe, but a think a lot of the blame lies there. When MTMTE and RID started, it was just Roberts and Barber, free to do whatever they wanted, as long as they didn’t step on each other’s toes. Now there’s a dozen different writers contributing to the universe, all with different ideas.
Now it’s like they’ve moved away from large scale universe building to just quietly sitting in their small established part of the universe and trying their best not to rock the boat. It doesn’t have to be that way though. The universe is huge. Just because we now have space knights and Visionaries flying around out there, doesn’t mean we’ve suddenly run out of room to introduce new concepts.

See, and that's frustrating as a reader because those grand ideas is initially what kept me coming back (besides the cast and comraderie). Like I still love MtMtE/LL, but I miss that larger world-building and big ideas that he was throwing out there earlier in the series.
Plus, I imagine all the crossovers aren't helping either.

I suspect that somewhere in the tail end of S1 Roberts realized he might not have as much of a “guiding hand” (pardon the pun) over the franchise in IDW as he might’ve considered, and dialed back some of his grander ideas. As I’ve noted before, there was a very large faith vs science overtone in the first “season” that, in light of the subsequent seasons and other stuff in the other comics, doesn’t make sense to be there at all (ie they weren’t things you’d write into the script if you knew the direction things were heading).
I suspect he’s been – admirably – making the best of a situation he doesn’t totally control. I’d be frustrated or hit and miss too.

The Functionist Universe read better for me in a binge. Reading it as released it felt like it was unnecessarily dragged out. But I recently re-read it together and the pacing worked a lot better for me.
A lot of Roberts recent MtMtE/LL work has been that way for me lately. I think part of it is that in either series, there's a lot going on issue to issue so trying to keep up with all of the details is rough reading it monthly but in a binge, all the points and parts line up the way he intended.
Or I'm getting old. I prefer the former.

I'm a huge geek, so I read all of the Hasbroverse stuff. As such, I find it easy to follow Optimus Prime. However, I can imagine what it would be like without reading all the other stuff, especially the crossovers. It wouldn't make a lot of sense, so I don't blame you for finding it frustrating. More so than any other Hasbro comic, Optimus Prime seems to suffer from the crossovers. There is an interesting story in there, it just keeps getting put on the back-burner while Barber deals with whatever crossover's coming next.
As for Lost Light, I can't fault that one too much as I'm one of those annoying fanboys who thinks James Roberts can do no wrong. Having said that though, I feel as if the Functionist Universe storyline was a little long. It was a good idea for a story, but probably not a 6 month long story. The Mutineers Trilogy has been great though. Here's hoping the rest of the series can keep this streak going.

Windblade\'s TR toy had a flatter broader chest and was \"thicc\"
maybe just trying to swing with that or?

Agreed. I find in the wake of the whole multiverse I've lost interest in Optimus Prime (which was already shrinking anyway) as all of a sudden I had no idea what was going on anymore because I don't read crossover comics. It's frustrating to the point I'm considering cancelling my subscription.
Lost Light has been SUPER hit and miss lately and I feel it almost is suffering from a lack of direction. The alternate universe arc just felt like filler that didn't do anything for the characters aside from get Megatron off the ship. The Mutineers Trilogy is the first time I've enjoyed the book in a while. But again, it seems so aimless and largley fan pandering to me now.
Till All Are One however actually had good intrigue and character development going. It was the only book of the three where I actually was excited for the next issue.

In a perfect world, this would outsell every other Transformers comic ever made, IDW would immediately approach Scott to keep the series going, and Till All Are One would run for another 10 years. However, given that we don't live in a perfect world, RIP Till All Are One. It was fun while it lasted.

You're not the only one. She seems to even share some of the same bulkiness Elita has like how Windblade's well.."bust" isn't as big as it used to be…I can't help but wonder if that's a sign that we may get a Windblade out of POTP Elita 1 later on since POTP Elita 1 seems to evoke a lot more of the IDW design as opposed to their original G1 look.
Omegashark18
Is it just me, or does Windblade look bulkier?
