For our next gallery, we’re turning our focus to the flinty old Autobot warrior, Kup!
Titans Return Kup has divided opinions since he was first shown, due to his lack of resemblance to the Generation 1 cartoon. This version of Kup skews closer to the original toy’s design, with influences from the Marvel comics design added in (for those who want a cartoon version, Takara-Tomy has you covered). The robot mode has a nice look to it, with a good amount of poseability including a waist swivel, although it is a bit lacking in the paint department. As mentioned, the head is inspired by the Marvel comics, specifically Andrew Wildman’s work. Transformation is clever with a good chunk of the vehicle mode folding up into the boots. Vehicle mode is a good update of the original truck mode, with all the hard angles that comes with it. What is particularly cool with Kup is that his robot mode is very clean, with very few parts of the vehicle mode hanging off his frame.
We really enjoy Kup, and he is a figure worth checking out, whether you get the Hasbro or Takara version. Check him out below:
Alphard
The paint color on that Kup is really pretty… I'd love a Moonracer in that color….

LOOOOVE Takara Legends Blurr!!!!! Looks so much like the cartoon. Didn't think that color would make such a difference.
Sol Fury
Yes, I generalise. The Legends one is a lovely toy though, with a fantastic deco. Maybe he'll get his own gallery, one of these days.

I've got this Kup & the Generations Deluxe Class too. This one looks a little wimpier but overall not too bad. Glad I've got two Kups at least. I've got Blurr too but will pass on this lines Hot Rod (he looks way too primitive), plus I'm more than happy with my Takara MP Hot Rod & am planning to get the Power of The Primes Rodimus anyways. And although I do have the thrilling 30 Arcee & Chromia, I'm mostly looking forward to Fans Toys MP Arcee (FT-24). Would looks great together. If they would only hurry up, shesh…
Autobot Burnout
Waiting for the inevitable Crosshairs retool – I like the Retro-future Earth truck of the Generations too much to replace him.

@Sol Fury : Ummm…Thats not TR Blurr.
Automorpher
Bought the LG version so I am covered on this piece. But I may still purchase the Hasbro piece if it goes on clearance as I like his guns.
Was considering getting the Orion Pax release for those but I aborted that thought when POTP Orion was unveiled.
G1 Deconstructor
Gray hands and Takara headmaster would have made this release perfect
unicronic
I was going to say something similar.
For anyone unsure about this figure, this 'figure' (put the character to one side) is one of the best mainline deluxes in a long long time. We haven't exactly been swarmed with poor deluxes either.
Zylly103
The way this toy transformers is practically sorcery.
I enjoy both this and the Legends version. A rare double-dipping for me.
Fallout
i never realized how gran torino-esque the g1 toy's face is… shit
Sol Fury
I'm not intimately familiar with that series. Cool to see it referenced though.
TyrantLizardKing
No mention of how his physical appearance is based on Guido Guidi’s All Hail Megatron design?
Sol Fury
Rounding out the Titans Return incarnations of the 1986 Autobot trio is this iteration of Kup, who has a healthy dose of toy / Andrew Wildman inspiration to him.
