I thought it was funny.
This could be a fun issue. Probably filler but fun nonetheless
Danny-Boy
Well it was originally titled "Revolutionaries First Strike," hence why the Revolutionaries are the driving force.
Also… seriously, people? You're complaining about a dumb little reference that has nothing to do with anything? Are y'all THAT desperate to complain?
ultramagnus1
Its as random as it gets. Don't think its supposed to add anything in the greater scheme of things. This feels like a filler. First strike and its so called wow moment is gone. Its like oh optimus prime got a first strike tie in and taao is no more so let's do a transformers first strike tie in.
Its how it feels to me.

The only thing weirder than Kup knowing who Alanis is would be Action Man knowing who she is. I mean, unless he's supposed to be 40.
But the real question is, why? Why even make an Alanis reference at all? It adds nothing to the plot. It's not clever. It's dumb on every single level. Lampshading it as a "dated reference" doesn't somehow make it cool.
Man, Barber just gets worse and worse. I really have zero reasons to come back to IDW it seems…

ultramagnus1
Yes it does.
kaijuguy19
Who knew Action Man has a thing for Cybertronian ladies? lol
RazorclawX
The fact that any of us knows who Alanis Morrissette is dates us horribly.
ultramagnus1
I find kup knowing who alanis morrissette is as funny.
Look forward to seeing what happens here

Yeah, we know, you've said more or less the same thing in every single IDW related thread for the past few months. It is now abundantly clear that you, BB Shockwave, do not like the IDW Hasbroverse, you can stop repeating yourself now.

Than just go away and let the people who do enjoy these stories enjoy them. Hell none of the crossover stuff is in MtMtE, so just go read that and if more fans read TAAO than you'd would've had another only TF comic to read.
BB Shockwave
Sigh. I am waiting when the comics get back to stories I actually care about, even though that likely never happens.
WilyMech
Actually Kup's reaction sums up Action Man hitting on Arcee.
Heliblade
Everybody \"likes\" the pink robot.
IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN~~~

Having read just the few pages here… there's really no discussion about the cringe-worthy dialogue?
Yikes… I guess it's standard comic book, but… yikes. It needs more editing, and probably a lot less dialogue. Most of it is either stupid or generically derogatory. I guess the standard is to mock the guy "hitting" on Arcee because sexuality is immoral? They're tracking a group that's God-knows-how-far-away, and Action Man is being unprofessional by having a personal conversation with Arcee? Ugh, that's some horribly generic "humor".

I'm curious to know what's going to happen to all the characters post-First Strike, because Revolutionaries was a great series. Action Man and Kup in particular make a great double act, so I hope we see more of them soon.

Let's be fair here, it's not an IDW thing. Labeling one-shots with just a single "#1" is pretty much an industry standard.
Jalaguy
Nah, it's just a one-shot. The labelling of one-shots as #1s is a frustrating habit of IDW's indeed.
For reference, the full First Strike checklist is:
– First Strike #0-6
– Optimus Prime: First Strike one-shot
– Transformers: First Strike one-shot
– G.I. Joe: First Strike one-shot
– M.A.S.K.: First Strike one-shot
– Micronauts: First Strike one-shot
– ROM: First Strike one-shot
The one-shots go together in pairs (OP & Transformers, G.I. Joe & M.A.S.K., Micronauts & ROM) to form three two-part side stories.

On the first page, Kup sorta reminds me of Robert Freeman from The Boondocks
TyrantLizardKing
While I always defend Tramontano’s pencils, Arcee looks really strange in this issue.
hardlurk
all the revolution & first strike one-shots are "#1"s for some reason
