Our team are at New York Comic Con 2017, where Hasbro have their Power of the Primes lineup on show. Here for your viewing pleasure, we have:
- Power of the Primes Terrorcons: Hun-Grrr, Rippersnapper, Blot / Blight, Cutthroat / Windrazor, and Sinnertwin / Twinstrike
- Power of the Primes Dinobot combiner Volcanicus
- Prime Masters Metalhawk, Landmine and Submarauder
- Legends class Windcharger and Skrapnel aka Shrapnel
- Leader class Rodimus Unicronus aka Black Rodimus Prime aka Shattered Glass Rodimus Prime
Yes, Shattered Glass lives on in Power of the Primes, with Rodimus Unicronus sporting the black and silver with purple flames look that the old Botcon exclusive used. The smaller robot looks more like a black version of Hot Rod, but the larger Rodimus Prime figure gets a new head sculpt, with a visor and a beard – reflecting the original character’s “street tough” persona. The Terrorcons look sharp, shown here as painted prototypes, with a very faithful to Generation 1 look – Cutthroat and Blot, or whatever they’re being called this outing, look particularly good. Skrapnel is looking to be a straight re-release of the 2013 toy, while Windcharger’s third Legends class outing is quite probably the most faithful to the original Generation 1 look yet, although his head looks a bit flat and his torso seems a bit long. Windcharger and the reissued Shrapnel’s collector cards are shown, indicating that part of the line’s gimmick will be that the collector cards will show which of the Primes individual bots are aligned with. Windcharger, for example, is of Liege Maximo’s line, while Shrapnel is of Onyx’s.
Also: in the back of the display, you can see Predaking’s wings, and they look nicely detailed with the possibility of hinging to let them flap. We can also see the box of Grotusque, which confirms the bot himself as an Autobot, so we think either the description of his Headmaster as a Decepticon is wrong, or Grotusque is such a rough, tough guy that he beat up some Decepticon and forced him to be his head. You decide!

I wouldn't put a lot of faith into the dates on that rendering. It appears to be an early rendering, as the knees are unlikely to be the dragon heads.

Good news, the other three Terrorcons are going to be packed together. Bad news is, they will be out late 2018.

But that is wrong. They had a good reason several in fact. They were trying to redo all the remaining triple changers (plus Blitzwing due to the terrible T30 mold) as well as many of the TFTM characters (that started in CW) and which all got caught up in their effort to redo the headmaster gimmick. Confronted with multiple competing objectives they decided to make compromises to get all of them done.

DEFINITELY. I'm onboard for that!

I really hope we get some of these after power of the primes as other Pretenders. I would love to get a pretender Bumblebee with the in a robot turning into a Bumblebee toy style head.
Robogeek28
Because that's his pre-puberty form of course.
payres
You spotted that's one not shown before today? Waverider.
Dinobot Snarl
Can we have these in transparent plez Takara!
Smitty.1981
Blitzwing would disagree…

Hasbro just shoehorned the triplechanger gimmick in headmasters line for no good reason.

Black Rodimus looks like George Michael (may he rest in peace).
He actually looks good – and a definite purchase if you ask me.
