Well, I can't wait to read it!

their are hints of that through the whole book its just they never stick! people always forget that hotrod started off as a major badass even before he got the matrix. idw rodimus just needs to go to japan only this time we will see the result of him learning the burden hardest to bear
Fenrys
Unfortunately idw has a separate tigatron now but I’ll stick with thinking in my head that drift was inspired by him (even if it’s not true haha)
optimusmegas
interesting note on that….in the japanese dub of RiD2015 drift has the same 'verbal ticks' and talks with an ancient dialect associated with the samurai just as tigatron did in their dub of beast wars. basically both characters speak the exact same way and were both portrayed as samurai in the japanese dub of both shows.
so you may be on to something there….
Fenrys
I initially liked him because he reminded me of a g1 tigatron (the head shape helped haha), I’ve never disliked him, I think Roberts improved him a lot, but always liked him.
I think the last time we saw any hint of a furman era rodimus mentality was during remain in light when rodimus hooked himself up to the matrix to overload the kill switch
optimusmegas
yea i like drift too…he gets so much hate because of how McCarthy wrote him but i've always liked him. he was a good original creation and i really like where he's been taken to this point in IDW
Fenrys
You literally just described the exact thing I’m hoping to see. Would love to see rodimus earn his place as a leader (him and drift are my two favorite idw characters)
optimusmegas
yea…ooooo i just hope the end result is as good if not better than the hype i got with that final page last issue…i feel scorponok is going to terrify rodimus at first but then he'll slip into some crazy determined super serious mode and everyone is going to just stand there going "this….this is rodimus…OUR rodimus?" when he's taking care of business in a way that would make thunderclash look like comic relief.
i want to reign in my excitement for that since the megatron/djd fight was disappointing imo and that was the last moment i was super hyped to see. but this scorponok/rodimus/magnificence reunion has me giddy.
Fenrys
Fair enough
On rodimus, I kind of like that he’s a tantrum throwing brat (when taken in context of the overall idw continuity) but I’m hoping that the resurgence of scorponok and the magnificence (both having major ties to rodimus during the furman era) prompts rodimus to snap out of his self indulgence and become the hot headed leader we all know he can be
Noideaforaname
Regardless of whether he's right or wrong, Getaway's a thousand times more interesting than anyone else in this book. Smarmy silver-tongued manipulator willing to go to any length to get rid of the even bigger scumbags that people inexplicably grow to care about — I like that, and I really hope he's not just quickly revenge-killed off in a gruesome manner…
Rewind
Soooooooo excited to get back to the Lost Light and witness the beginning of the end for Getaway (or whatever ends up happening).
I just hope Anode & Lug make their way on board because I've grown quite fond of those two over the first 9 issues.
optimusmegas
okay fair enough about the rodimus thing…you got me there…i'm used to roberts writing rodimus as a tantrum throwing brat it's hard to remember all the baggage he hauls around from his time in IDW…
but with tailgate being socially deficient (which he is) is very very different from being a child. saying cyclonus is probably not strictly a pedophile right there says we can't call tailgate a child…if cyclonus isn't being called a straight up pedo tailgate isn't a child. child-like and child are different.
frankly naive is just as easy to say as child…and far more accurate.
Fenrys
Essentially from a purely human perspective, cyclonus would be labeled as some sort of predator, though probably not strictly a pedophile. Tailgate is socially deficient stemming from his lack of interactions for millions of years. It gives a more child like quality to his mentality than rodimus, who lived through a civil war, was betrayed by a close friend, made the mistake of helping swindle, ran away from his problems to steal back the matrix and re-earn favor among the autobots, got murdered, got resurrected by the matrix and got a chunk of his crew killed because he didn’t have enough of a backbone to tell prowl no. Rodimus isn’t immature for the sake of it, he is immature because he is mentally broken and doesn’t know how to cope with the shit that has happened to him (some of it self inflicted).
optimusmegas
he is most of the time…he and i agree constantly about things….but calling tailgate a child just doesn't represent him right. there's probably better ways to cut down his literal description other than 'child' just calling him a child warps perception of soooo many things in this book and makes alot look worse than it really is.
it just paints things incorrectly…i mean if that's the case like i said..is cyclonus now a pedophile? does this mean roberts is pro-pedophilia? it just cascades into something horrible when it's not accurate to begin with
Murasame
Fenrys
Fair enough I appreciate your faith in my understanding haha
optimusmegas
he was kept, literally, in the dark for millions of years…he's naive to the world and carefree in most of his attitude…..he's not mentally stunted…it's easier to say child but it's wrong to say child. it paints an incorrect picture of the events and makes so many things grosser than they really are based on 'it's easier to say'.
i mean when you refer to their relationship do you call cyclonus a pedophile because it's easier to say than 'ancient cybertronian in love with someone that's mentally under developed due to being in a catatonic state for millions of years resulting in him being physically aged as the cybertronian equivalent of an adult while having the mentality of a teenager at best '?
people only say this because his robot mode looks childlike and his holomatter avatar was a baby…in reality in most instances rodimus acts like a child. he throws temper tantrums and most of his comebacks are basically "i know you are but what am i??" yet i don't see anyone saying getaway betrayed a child. because of his look the perception of tailgate is that he's a child…but reality is that he's not. you can say this about many transformers in this universe…MTOs are basically child soldiers but no one constantly calls them that…
Murasame
I knew what you meant. You're one of the few guys who always gets things right, so I expected you to know and not always wanting to write a paragraph like this now. If that helps you
Fenrys
Ok fine, he’s mentally under developed due to being in a catatonic state for millions of years resulting in him being physically aged as the cybertronian equivalent of an adult while having the mentality of a teenager at best. See why it’s easier to just say he’s a child?
optimusmegas
tailgate isn't a child….
people still say this?
