We’re taking a break from bringing you galleries of the Titans Return line to spotlight one of the new releases from the Robots in Disguise line. Warrior class Twinferno might be the last new mold to grace the Warrior size class for the line, and he’s a different and quirky concept for a figure, which sums up the original characters of Robots in Disguise as a whole.
Our second Twinferno of the year does not turn into a dragon, but rather a bizarre spaceship / stealth jet… with dragon heads. It’s a different type of airborne vehicle mode, and it’s nice to get some variety into the Robots in Disguise Warrior line which has mostly consisted of ground vehicles so far. Robot mode is solid, if a bit generic apart from the dragon hands. The head is particularly plain, and looks a bit like a background character rather than a named character. While very simple, the transformation is also a little frustrating as the legs proved hard to peg into place, and we’ve got concerns that the leg mechanism – which swings down on one plastic arm – may break in time, as it seems overly stiff and a bit of force is needed to make it peg in. The flame accessories are fun, plugging into the dragon hands for fiery breath in either mode, and also attaching to the jet engines for a blazing engine trail – and these also work in robot mode, if you have ever wanted to pose a robot delivering a fiery kick to his enemies.
Overall, an interesting and different figure with unique accessories, if a little flawed and generic in his robot design. Check out the gallery to see if he should go on your wants list when he hits US retail.

I'd take it as IDW Dinobot Strafe if it was a voyager.. Maybe still take it this size
ProjectShocwave
Yup! Sad but true indeed.
MegaMoonMan
Such a lazy design, they could have at least added a couple more joints to give him a dragon mode too.
Crim
My biggest issue with TR was how they now look more like RID figures then Generations figures. I've got a few RID figures mixed into my collection (will have to pick up this guy too) because they match the current Generations stuff…. Sadly.
cutestprincess
Looks surprisingly cool! I might actually pick him up if I see him. Wish I could have gotten the generations Twinferno in this color scheme instead of "g1 accurate" colors
Satomiblood
A 2-headed dragon jet? That might be the stupidest, yet coolest, idea ever. Sign me up.

Here's hoping he and his wavemates eventually hit US retail or Hasbro Toy Shop or BBTS or somewhere.
Black Convoy
I may grab him if he shows up in Peru retail. The fire swords are a nice detail.
BubbleMax
Two Headed Stealth Bomber Charizard. Definitely making that.
kmopotato
I'd just like to see it retooled as a stealth bomber like BB or something. Never really cared for Doublecross.

He looks awesome. I honestly don't mind the hollowness at all. Just got Blurr and Soundwave the other day as my first Rid15 figures and they're actually a lot more fun than I expected. They look pretty good despite the hollow plastic. Simple but clever transformations and pretty decent articulation. Can't wait to get some more of these figures.
Stormshot and Twinferno are definitely the ones in looking for next.
ZapRowsdower
He looks great! Fantastic photos and comparison shots!
The only concern I have is the fragility/troubling-transformation mentioned in the review! But on the bright side, at around $15, I can give this a go and deal with the issues (cause Doublecross is effing AWESOME. ).
I think it's tougher when you spend $150 on Trypticon and have issues there!
ProjectShocwave
lol true & good point. I guess what bugs my transisters is they tend to do it to many non RID bots too.

Aren't all main line items riddled with hollow and cheap feeling parts now though?
ProjectShocwave
Looks decent enough (i like the color scheme), but Gawd just look at all the cheap visible hollow parts – based on that alone it'll most likely be a pass 4me (although im not really collecting RID stuff, nontheless Hasbro has gotta smarten up with this never ending visible hollow nonsense, cause Im not buyin' it).
Nemisispath
He looks like he\'s ready for Chinese New Year.

He's one of the RID molds I definitely need to get! Love how he turned out and looks really fun!

A year ago if you'd told me we'd have not one but two new versions of Doublecross, I wouldn't have believed you.
But, here we are.

Robots in Disguise Twinferno with Titans Return Twinferno. That flame doesn't peg in on TR Doublecross, I just wedged it as best I could.
Robots in Disguise Twinferno with fellow Autobot flyer Stormshot. Stormshot is frankly a lovely toy, and one I intend to do a random shoot of one day if time allows.
Turns out The Last Knight Dragonicus is a decent stand in for Movie Doublecross… ?
