Amazon have updated their listing for Transformers the IDW Collection Phase 2 Volume 7 with the planned cover artwork for the volume. This hardcover features the issues of More than Meets the Eye where Megatron joined the Lost Light – and so it only makes sense that Megatron should grace the front cover artwork! Check it out attached to this post.
Transformers The IDW Collection Phase 2 Volume 7 collects issues 28 – 34 of More than Meets the Eye and issues 28 – 34 of Robots in Disguise. It is due for a release on March 27, 2018.

i know i'm not a regular on these boards but i am very excited to see that idw is continuing to publish new volumes via the idw collection of hardcovers. i understand readers not being happy with the recent "hasbro shared universe" but i still think, overall, this eleven year old revamp has been a very entertaining and textured saga that has continued to hit the highest notes and the close to lowest lows but, all in all, kicks even the g1, uk comics on their butt. i admit to not liking the "shared universe" but i still think it works better stapled to transformers than it does with g.i. joe (where it slams the reader into a brick wall)and i enjoy stories that take place both on Earth AND in space but i have always felt g.i. joe and transformers DO NOT belong in the same universe. the stories and the fans are very different for the most part and i feel that (and i'm probably alone on this) no one has successfully created a cross-over between these two very different franchises save for scioli's tf vs g.i. joe run that fans either loved or hated. these sort of "events" should be self-contained in a seperate mini-series that does not impact any of the regularly published continuities. BUT this is what we are being given and i don't want another revamp and, at least, we still have roberts on board and it still, in my mind, is better to include these toylines than it was for marvel super heroes to pop up. as long as the hardcover collection continues i will be there.
NoiseMaker
Its not smoke or steam or.. well its the paint flaking off, like in all of the other phase 2 book covers..
Im sure you know this.
Anyways. Already pre-ordered.

Big eyes means the head looks small. Some revision needed!

This looks disappointing. I mean the stories inside are mostly gold, but this cover doesn't fit the bill for an omnibus type collection. Any idea who the artist credit goes to?
SMOG
I feel bad for slagging off the artist, but I hope that's just a mock-up for the cover.
Because it's not very good. Clumsy proportions and overly cartoonish expression, broken geometry, doesn't command the cover compositionally, awkward digital painting, detail level way to soft and simple for a cover that size. Looks sort of shabby.
I guess we're a long way from EJ Su's old exquisitely pencil-rendered covers these days…

Danforth
I was hoping for more imposing, with a less overtly angry facial expression, but at least I guessed right I guess a traditional Megatron is supposed to attract new readers (although how these theoretical new readers would react to the stories within would be interesting ("Megatron has no cannon? He's an Autobot?? Transformers are capable of love???" )
Girl Pants
That's one angry, evil-looking Megatron for the issues that cover the remorseful Autobot Megatron arc.
Heliblade
Megatron is so angry he has steam coming off his head. Truly he still is a cartoon.
Predakwon
You'd be correct (for now at least…..)
Danforth
I'd be tempted by some sort of MTMTE special collection to upgrade my trades, even as I also buy the Collections, slowly covering the same stories.
Megatron for the cover of V7, do we think?
Mercutio
All I want is some nice big hardcover collections of MTMTE. Don't care about the other series. Just MTMTE. Give us a season 1 omnibus or something. Series has been out for years and has never been collected in hardcover on its own. Come on, IDW!

Currently scheduled for Jan 2018. It has, however, been rescheduled/delayed several times.
