Paramount on behalf The Transformers Movies is holding a March Madness style bracket tournament pitting Transformers from all the movies against each other. The site is live now and voting is already underway. You can jump in and cast your votes, each round kicks off at set times using Facebook Live tech. Who are you voting for? Sound off on the 2005 Boards after the break!

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be either Megatron or the fallen vs prime? Both of which he will win hands down.
Galvatross
The people who vote in these things must have very different tastes from me. WTF to Nitro Zeus beating Lockdown? If it were me I'd vote for Lockdown to win the entire side of the villains' bracket, but hey, I'm not most people.
Granted, I'd still vote for Nitro Zeus over Barricade, Dreadbot, Berserker, Devastator, etc., but not Lockdown or Megatron.
As others have said, this is a bracket meant for fun. It's not worth taking it too seriously.
Lord Dcast
Same. My guess is they just attached an existing name to it.
Multiple TFs can have the same name within the same universe, just as there are a million James' on earth.
Prime135
I just can't believe they used that creepy wrecker hybrid to represent topspin…
BR3AKDOWN
Holy crap, Nitro beat Lockdown. I'm glad too, I loved Nitro and I hope this is enough for him to return in TF6 or pop up in other Transformers media.
Prime135
Updated bracket?

How long is the voting up for? We have a countdown of ~2 days, and then you can vote for, what, a couple of hours, if that? Dumb. I've missed all of these so far.
EDIT: Apparently it's up for less than 20 minutes. I just missed another one.
Lord Dcast
Should've mentioned I still like the design. Just saying we don't usually like these movies for the effort put into the characters.
But fair point.
MnemonicSyntax
I don't recall anyone saying otherwise? No one has stated how much of a work of literature these films are.
You're pretending like voting in a poll requires some sort of in-depth back story and a deeper personality than the basic archetypes that are commonly known as a "shallow personality" allow. And it doesn't. You pick who you like. It can even be based on appearance alone. Or that one time Decepticon Bird-guy turned into a smaller Pink Camero-dude. Or the other time when Blades McGee pointed out the obvious about a "Mexican standoff."
It's all relative. People go into this poll voting for their favorite characters, not what the general consensus' favorite character is.
Purple Heart
I have fun all the time. I like a lot of things that would normally be considered bad, but just because I like something doesn't mean I'm going to pretend it is something it isn't.
MnemonicSyntax
Bingo.
AutobotAvalanche
The point that Syntax was making was that the person he quoted said that all the characters are devoid of personality (which is true for some of them) and that we shouldn't (and can't) care about them. Well if he doesn't care about them, why is he bothering with forum posts about them?
MnemonicSyntax
Jesus fucking Christ. This isn't a debate about the characters of the movies, but a poll meant for fun.
Try having it sometime, instead of riding on "rules" or making comparisons to other films. Fuck.
Purple Heart
Thats my point though. You can describe some of those characters with just 2-3 words. It's 2 dimensional. A character that has depth is more complex, and that takes more effort. If James Gunn can give depth and emotional to a talking Racoon and a walking tree theres no excuse why any movie shouldn't have characters with depth as well. Anything less is just isn't as good. Thats not a debate either, it's the standards and rules of literature. That standard is set and your dropping below it. There is a clear lack of effort and talent among those who do this as their "profession". Granted, it's perfectly fine to love these movies but that doesn't change the fact that they fall well below the standard of what they should, or could be.
MnemonicSyntax
Yes, let's pretend like he was going to vote anyway. It's just thinly-veiled movie bashing.
As far as "depth" goes, there's enough to know that they have enough personality to vote in a bracket poll for. It's for fun, not to write a five page essay on why Drift is a samurai or Sideswipe is a cocky hotshot.

You
Purple Heart
But he's right. Whether you like or dislike the movies you can't ignore what they are. Very few of the Cybertronian characters in these movies ever get any form of personality beyond 2 dimensions. Therr is no depth to their character, only what you see.
Thats not up gor debate, thats just the rules of literature and storytelling.
AutobotAvalanche
Yeah, at least when Sqweeks says "fuck you" he actually DOES something to back it up.
MnemonicSyntax
And yet Sqweeks is still somehow more productive then coming into a thread dedicated to the topic of the live-action films and bitching about the live-action films.
Lord Dcast
To be fair, writing this post probably took more effort than coming up with the idea of Squeeks.
