I don't know what Best Buy you goto, but mine is nothing like that. There's a good sized section of movies, with New Releases placed at the front of the store. Steelbooks of popular movies do tend to sell out quickly in store, but they are a special edition item. That's why they offer preorders online, so you can guarantee yourself a steelbook.
As for movies being rereleased with different formats, nobody is making you buy them. If you're happy with the copy you already own, then just kick back and enjoy.

There is a Transformers Movies 5 Pack, available at Best Buy.

I got mine in the mail on Friday, how crazy is that? Same happened with Wonder Woman 3D last week. Preordering at Best Buy is pretty sweet!
But I watched the 4K in HDR with Dolby Atmos and it was great! I was too lazy to update my firmware and hook up my hdmi cables different to try Dolby Vision, but I'll try it one of these days. I watched it twice in theaters(once in IMAX) and it was alright, but for some reason I really liked the movie this 3rd time. Now I'm kinda pumped to get the 3D version tomorrow and watch it again.

Got my steelbook in the mail today. Will probably wait a few days to watch it but the packaging is nice.

I have a Sony 4k 3d tv from 2016. I have no need for a new TV any time soon. Haven't even had it 2 years.

First day buy for me. I have all the others on steelbook. I like that the title on the spine lines up perfectly

Worst buy hasnt had the last few steel cases in stock at the stores. (Guardians, Aliens..) They remodeled lately, if you want to instantly get lung problems because of interior use of black oil paint from their new renovation and buy a millionaires kitchen appliance set, go to best buy.. If you want to get movies dont go there. They dont even have regular aisle of the dvds anymore and video games are way in the back corner. You can only get the steelcases online.
The content producers keep all the special 3d releases for subscription only services (Frozen, Malificent) and then lament that the format didnt catch on. Well when you go into a store with money and you want to buy any 3d movies there are none or theyre $60 like for Lord of the Rings, each film, no boxed sets of the 3d ones, it tends to put a damper on sales. They want to soak us or theres zero product, thats why it didnt light the world on fire. Bestbuy cant even be bothered to carry their own exclusive steelcases. Theyre starting to do the same thing with 4k, withholding the 4k versions for pay streaming networks. They converted Top Gun and Jurassic Park and want $35 for them. Like, I already bought Top Gun 7 times. Saw at the theater. Bought on VHS. On widescreen VHS. On DVD. On Superbit DVD. On special edition DVD. On Bluray.. Like so I dont really want to pay $35 for it again.. They should have kept putting out 5 older releases in 3d each month for $15-20. Instead they had a little pouty fest and took their ball and went home.
Now theyre talking about high framerate films. Higher framerates make cgi videogames look more realistic, but in movies they make it look exactly like home videotape. Its awful seeing my favorite movies with their crappy framerate enhancing software on the tv. I turn it off, truevision, or whatever. I dont need to see the Godfather looking like it was shot on my old betamax camera.
Some of the best movies in home 3d are Prometheus, Dredd, Force Awakens, Deadpool and Antman. In Captain America Civil War theres a scene where Tonys mom kisses him on the cheek and in the 3d version you can see both sides of his face. She leaves lipstick on his cheek and rubs it off with her hand, its pretty impressive CGI that isnt present in the 2d version.
( I can tell none of youse like mushrooms/lsd.. Holy Fantasia, Batman!

I would miss HDR too much to be happy with just 3D. I saw GoG v.2 in the theater in 3D and loved it. But after seeing it in HDR at home, I don't have any real desire to see it any other way.

That's why I bought a 2016 LG E6 a few months ago, I absolutely have to have 3D. Just watched GOTG 2 recently in 4K first, and then 3D after, and IMHO the 3D BLOWS AWAY the 4K. There's so much more detail to notice because of the depth, it's just too bad it doesn't have the Atmos sound on the 3D, but still… It's just too bad people are too lazy to try home 3D, cause it's one of the best things ever. Especially on mushrooms.

Thanks for the info.

There are no new TV's that support 3D. The best 3D TVs were the 2016 versions.
My LG OLED doesn't support it since I bought the base model (B6), so I'll probably just sell all my 3D movies like GotG v.2 since I'll never watch them.
Toker
It's a fancy limited edition metal case. They're also like crack if you buy your first.

What is a steel book?
MV95
I'll be getting the 3D. Although it'll be the first 3D Bluray I'll be getting in quite some time. The 3D at home phase is dying quickly. There's barely even any 3D TVs on the market anymore.
Shizuka
Just to let UK fans know, the steelbook is available through JOB and Zavvy.
Megatronwp38
So who's getting the 3d Blu-ray? Guardians volume 2 was a best buy exclusive. 3d getting more difficult to find.

I never bought first version of any movie. Just waiting for complete pack or some kind of special edition with bonus content.
