Artist Andrew Griffith has sahred a very interesting IDW Robots In Disguise Soundwave Concept Art.
The image was shared via his Twitter account, and it shows how he invisioned Soundwave for “Robots In Disguise” Comic, later known as “The Transformers” and today as “Optimus Prime”. Andrew explains that this alt mode is based on a three axle communications-heavy Stryker-type vehicle.
He also details how he planned to introduce Soundwave’s little partners for this idea:
“When I redesigned #Soundwave & Co. as trucks and bikes for #RID this is how I saw Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Rumble & Frenzy deploying”.
You can check the mirrored images after the jump and then share your impressions at the 2005 Boards.

Looks pretty cool. I can just imagine the minions all tucked up snug in there.

Me too lol.

I NEED a toy of this Soundwave design! Everything about it just seems perfect!

Is there 'EDC' mark on the vehicle?

That's a shame. I love that version.

Those are pretty awesome. I really like the starscream!

The U2 is very nice. U2 and Sr-71 in a double pack. A new Sr71 not ROTF. Wishful thinking. A TF company makes Earth at War line.

Those 60\'s designs are awesome, and the idea of setting a TF story in the 60\'s, especially as a spy story, is quite appealing. I hope it happens at some time, as, though I\'m not generally a comics reader, something like this done serially, or as a graphic novel, would be fantastic. That said, while the Studebaker works for Bee, as well as his bot mode, the U2, wonderfully inspired though it is as an alt, in its bot mode doesn\'t convey the Seekers to me. However, I still like the idea, and I love the concept art- just beautiful designs. I wouldn\'t mind having high end toys of both.
As for the unused concept for Cybertronian Bee, I dig it. It works for the character, and would have made for a unique toy.

I like the Bumblebee sketch, not really a fan of Starscream. The head actually looks more like Rung.

Possibly.

I cannot wait for a third party to make a Bumblebee Aston Martin DB5

I wonder if the robot mode is this one?

"The name's Bee…Bumblebee."
Inb4 "this has been said before on the thread" and "that's not the Aston Martin DB5".
Blitz.
really liking the KG alt mode

Right? As much as I'd kill for a KG based Transformer, Bee wouldn't be the character. Would make sense for CJ in multiple ways (look up the history of the Porsche 924/944), but I think Glyph would suit the car best.

Those 60s designs look great, although, not sure why a VW bug wasn't still used… it was around in the 60s All kidding aside, they look great, and I would have bought that comic.

Omfg those are so rad. Haha. I want toys of those
